The closest a team has ever come to doing that were the US women in 2000 after winning the WWC the year before. Unfortunately, they succumbed to Norway 3-2 in the final in Sydney, Australia.
After Spain won the Women’s World Cup last year, that’s why it’s not easy on trying to win back to back for the first time to win an Olympic gold following a World Cup.
