I could be wrong but based off what i heard, the spell he has been using to trap people in mud since she started studying magic, its name is quagmire or something like that. So his nickname is based off that spell. It’s basically become his signature spell.

A "quagmire" is: "a soft boggy area of land that gives way underfoot."
Rudy certainly uses this frequently. So he based his nickname around that. So, yeah, that is correct. Not sure if the attack is actually named "quagmire" though.

It depends on the story but traditionally drakes and dragons are two separate mythological creatures. They may look similar but so do crabs and false crabs and those aren't related to each other.
