Horizon: Zero Dawn is such a gorgeous and underrated game - it is one of the most beautiful, serene, relaxing and sublime games I have ever played. A heavily underrated masterpiece that lived up to the hype. I welcome a remaster. Can't wait to finally play Forbidden West someday.

yeah its so underrated it has a 89 metacritic score (87% user score on steam) and sold 20+ million copies.
@@alextyc3I think they mean that many people just hate on the game for no reason without ever having played it. And mostly just repeat the same silly arguments like "robots look silly and don't fit in a tribal world" and "Aloy is too annoying".
And because of these comments many many people haven't ever looked at the game at all.
@@jurassik0449 tbh the game is mid, its your basic ubi style open world but ubi didnt create it. Its as far from a masterpiece as possible if you compare what games get that rating at all.

The last PS4 game I want remastered, upgraded, and expanded upon is The Order 1886. That game should get a second chance.
I want that more than Bloodborne. It's legitimately one of my favourite gaming experiences, although I understand why people were disappointed.

I will say kudos to you for admitting this. I felt it was absolutely ridiculous for all the negativity surrounding this remaster considering nothing was officially announced until now. I feel there is a very toxic culture to bash games before knowing ALL the facts first and this must stop. It isn't fair to the people like myself that was really excited to hear about a remaster/remake of this game. The Horizon series is one of my all time favorites, so yes, I do want the best version of this game. And it really worried me with so much negativity that Gorilla might have decided to withdraw releasing this, and I am soooo glad that is not the case.
people will complain about anything you have to realize this.people complain about gaming companies redoing games in g in general. someone will have a problem with whatever they decide too do with a game it just shows how many people bought the game to have that many opinions.i will be upgrading my copy wene this comes out. i will watch game play first however.
I don't think remastering HZD is the issue. It's the lack of NEW PS5 genre games by companies like Guerilla when they have Killzone in their library. PS5 is suffering from a lack of a diverse library compared to PS3/PS4 so all these remakes seem like a waste of resources when they have a ton of old IP's sitting and wasting away that haven't been done in the PS5 era yet.
To be fair these games cost MILLIONS and we are still getting good exclusives from Sony. Sony is setting the bar while the best Xbox can do is Hell Blade.😅
PC is solid but you aren't getting the triple A Sony experience there either until way later. Imagine if Sony didn't exist what would we be left with? It's a beggars can't be chooser type of situation.
@@OTG1776 Nah, totally disagree. I am a PC gamer (w/ a 4090 getting max fps and maxed out setting playing in 4K HDR), have an Xbox Series X, and a PS5.
Both consoles collect dust (I should have skipped Series X since Xbox Game Pass is on PC) as most of their games are on PC. I have a whole catalog for PS5 on Steam and just picked up Ghosts of Tsushima on it, and Ragnarok also just came out.
I have HZD and Forbidden West in there and BOTH look stunning because for HZD PC, you already get a lot of visual upgrades over the base PS5 version. Hence why I said the remasters are a waste of time. Sony needs to make NEW games and stop with the remasters. Only games I have for PS5 are Stellar Blade, and gonna pick up Astrobot. The exclusives for the console are lacking bigtime.
Horizon Zero Dawn was my first ever platinum i went for, and I remember it's reveal trailer back in 2015 so it holds a special place for me. So if this gives me an opportunity to get another platinum for $10 I'll do it.
Darn it... I just played the entire Horizon franchise a few months ago, the two games and both DLCs... and now I have to play H:ZD again? 😄 Seriously, it's one of my favorite games of all time, so I will definitely get the remaster... I want to have this in the best possible quality.

Mind you what they showed were cut scenes. In Forbidden West Aloy does look different in cut scenes than in gameplay.

People didn’t complain about remasters back in the day. It’s only now that Sony is the top dog and people are always trying to tear down the crown. Nintendo does like 5 remasters every year. Xbox did the master chief collection, the gears collection of 1 and 2. And so many other studios have remastered their own games multiple times. It’s been a thing for a long time. And remasters have never been a major improvement until the last few years and I’d say that Sony is making some of the best remasters ever. Sonys remasters look like borderline remakes. Making a last gen game look like current gen? That’s incredible. Back in the day, a remaster was some scam HD texture fixes and that’s it. It barely looked different. Look at the old shadow of the colossus ps3 remaster. Barely a difference. Naughty dog made Last of us 1 which came out on ps3 look like a ps5 game. That’s insane. And for people thinking that this is taking time away from other games…yeah it is. So? Forbidden west just came out a few years back. You’re not getting a third game for a couple more years at best. A remaster of the first game is a great idea since they’re really just repurposed assets. And do you people really think that the main talent is working on remakes and remasters? Come on people use your brains. They’re probably side teams or contractors that are not used for these remasters and remakes. How do I know this? Because it’s been done for years.

The Remaster looks good but I’m not sure if I’ll upgrade or not yet. I’m a fan of the franchise but having this and Lego Horizons the following months feels a bit much. By the way are you gonna talk about the DLC for Prince of Persia the Lost Crown?

For those who don't understand and whine with a big WHY: Sony wants to sell Horizon 3 not only those who played 1 and 2. So they must push a PS4-level-graphics Horizon Zero Dawn into the throat a new generation of players who just bought their first PS(5) and never owned a PS4 or a gaming PC that runs the PC version. They are here, they grown up, and they can buy games. And Sony wants to sell Horizon 3 them but they can't make them eat the original 2017-released HZD. A huge generation-change has just cut the franchise half (third, but you get the point).

I was sold when it was leaked las week without even seeing the trailer. I tried going back to Zero Dawn (on PC) after HFW and it was too much of a downgrade. This looks really good and they’re getting my $.

Yes exactly. Horizon Zero Dawn really never was an example of good graphics. The game was worth every penny and awesome in every other aspect but if you had unfinished business like a final trophy and you're back from Forbidden West, wanting to relive, to replay, it feels like ZD was from 2002 and FW from 2022
completely agree, playing zero dawn after forbidden west just feels like somone cut off a leg. don't get me wrong, zd is still an incredible game, but forbidden west is just better in every single aspect.
+ the pc port for hzd is not the greatest thing ever.

Zero dawn has way better characters, story and lore than FW.
The face animation was the only thing in zero dawn that was ROUGH the fact that they are redoing it makes me exited to try this. Even though I agree that other older games could better benefit from a remaster..
I got into games recently when I bought my PS5 and one of my first games was Horizon Forbidden West. I looked at Zero Dawn and I was considering buying it just to see the first part of the story. Now I'm convinced, I'll get the remastered version, so for me it's a complete win.
And it´s only 10 bucks . Really hope the machines are hard to kill . Ultra hard and machines that don´t go down easy I WILL LOVE IT

Looks promising than I thought. 10 hours of recording is great since the main complaint was still movements in cutscenes
I think Guerilla games themselves wanted this remaster just based on their PS Blog, idk maybe I’m wrong. But all in all as a Horizon fan I’m happy with this remaster. Was it necessary? no. But I can appreciate the devs taking their time and effort on making this. I’m excited to play as It’s like experiencing it for the first time again, atleast that’s what I feel 😅
I'd say it's highly likely that Guerilla wanted this so that once the trilogy is complete the 1st game with the most importance won't be visual whiplash compared to the other 2.

This is false. You seem to be wildly misinformed. TLOU 2 remastered added a native 4k30fps mode and while on a vrr/120hz, it bumped up the framerate to 40fps with highly upscaled 4kimage quality, this being another seperate mode. Then, they added a rougelike game mode. PLUS they added 3 new levels to the main game. It wasnt stupid, you just didnt know about this stuff, obviously.
@@dripfoe_3307 modes should be in free update not paid one, roguelike is fair enough and they didn't add new levels these are just unfinished levels that they cut from they game, they are still unfinished in remaster

I will give them at least some props for honoring those who got the game for free during the Play at Home programme a few years ago, i wasn't expecting that.
I remember when Atlus released Persona 5 Royal on PS5, they made you pay full price again, with no upgrade path whatsoever, not even save file transfer, which was really bs
I’m actually excited I have the first game and have not touched it(I got it from GameStop for some deal I think it was a buy 2 games get one free sometimes like that) , it was the same situation for the last of us part 1 and 2 remastered and the 10 dollar thing was expected ( due to them doing it with the last of us) was expected. I thankfully have a ps5

I hope they redo the balancing, in HFW they made it so that you have to actually charge your bow before shooting to ensure high damage/tear. In Zero dawn the most efficient method is jumping up and spamming arrows while in bullet time.

You know.. had this came out earlier like around the time when Tsushima, Stranding, and Uncharted 4 got remasters and they added some new content, I think people wouldn't be as complaining as much.
I feel like it’s just ok overall I feel the last of us part 1 I get that was 10 years and for this game it’s been a few years
If you don't own this game yet (in any way) then £50 is a bloody good price to pay for what is still one of the best games I've ever played.
Add in the amount of work needed to re-work something like this (a team of 40 for a year is 81,000 man hours of work.) to turn it into what will be the best version of the game to date then that £50 is perfectly reasonable. The £10 upgrade path is truly a damn good deal, but I'd happily fork out the £50 even owning two legit copies of the game already .
I will also point out that 10 hours of new dialogue and motion capture data doesn't mean you only needed to to hire the studio for a couple of days.. NO this was probably a couple of hundred hours of work in the studio just recording to say nothing of the processing and getting the new data into the game.

I have/had on physical and on PS5 digital (I think). The $10 upgrade is kind of normal, a few others have done that. I see the $50 range to be saying something if you don't have this then is $50 ok for a "new" game or at least new to you. How much would you pay for Zero Dawn original version if buying it new?
Zero Dawn is a great game, I got in to it because it was part of a bundle package. The games are set in the same world and some same characters, so they should visually look the same or similar
For me, they justified why the Zero Dawn remaster should exist with all the improvements they made to the game.
As guerrilla has called out in the blog, technology has come a long way in 7 years.
With the 10$ upgrade, it isn't as bad could have been.
This is Sony with no competition, and this will be the horse armour pf this gen, and next will be $10 for updates for more and more games......and there is no defence for this, people who bought it already should get the updates free, those that did not already buy for it then have to pay like the original owners did.

useless remaster, it really did not need it at all. Go make new games instead of just remastering games you can already play on the PS5... Seriously this is why I stopped going console and sold the PS5.
Has any one ever played a remaster of a game they best just last generation. In a huge linear game fan but in all honesty, without a game with different outcomes and places to explore, I'm not playing it again.
Tbh, the game doesn't need a remaster. But I haven't played it in years and never got the dlc. So 10$ for the updated visuals, loading times and dlc is an absolute win for me

The deal breaker for me (and this sounds like such a tremendous nitpick; but it's something I simply hated about Forbidden West) would be if they get rid of the muscles/toned bodies of the planets' populace and replace them with the Ken/Barbie doll physiques (no definition, whatsoever).
These people live in a physically demanding world - they should have bodies that reflect that. How am I going to believe Aloy can scale the side of a mountain - pulling up her own weight - when she has no muscle tone to speak of?
an ugly unrealistic character is the dealbreaker for me.

Out of all the open world games it had some of the strongest animations.

Yes, is a very good Remaster and so was TLOU part 1. However, they got away with calling TLOU part 1 a “Remake” and charging full price for it.
For the record, Demon’s Souls is also a Remaster. It was a graphical overhaul and nothing more. $70.
It’s almost like they know they can’t get away with using the word Remake so frivolously anymore.
Whilst it's £49.99 to new players if they wanna buy it outright 'as is', there's nothing to stop them picking up the PS4 version used for about £10-15 and then getting the upgrade for a tenner, so overall £20-25 so saving £25-£30.

The other question is should they have fires most of the Guerrilla games staff after Forbidden West? Remasters are generally done as training and to maintains staff while you are in preproduction as preproduction teams will be between 20 to 70 people.

How do people not understand that it would take Sony like 5 times more resources to remaster a PS3 game as opposed to something like Zero Dawn where they already have all the assests from Forbidden West they just need to implement them. So when people are saying Sony should have used the time and money to focus on other stuff, trust me, they didnt spend nearly as much resources as you think, this can only make them money so its a no brainer for them

The $50 price tag for people who don't own it is actually great. It's the SAME PRICE as the original version, but you're getting all of the enhanced features WITHOUT having to pay even a dollar more!
I played a friend's copy and would gladly play full price to play it again.

How great the graphics were on the original. It does look like a last generation game. It doesn't surprise me that remaster would look noticably better. I played Horizon Zero Dawn six years after it was released, and noticed how less detailed it looked compared to PS5 games. Did it need a remaster? I don't think so. But I will be purchasing the remaster.
I will be getting that $10 upgrade, it's not that much for basically a new game.

Probably cost close to nothing compared to a new game, puts new staff to learn the ins and outs of the engine and how to work with a major PS Studio, gives new comers a chance to enter the franchise with up to pair graphics and just 10$ for the fans that wanted to play the updated version. Also Guerrilla didn’t lose focus as it was made by other small studio and Sony gets to profit a bit. I don’t see how this is not a win for everyone involved

I did notice they made fattened Aloy up making her less pretty than the original. I was taken aback by some of the scenes they showed were her face is very round
