  • This video explains in detail how I make Native American inspired 5 hole pvc flutes using pvc pipe in a key of A. It also explains how to get the simulated wood grain finish. These types of flutes are easy to play and require no maintenance. And best of all, these PVC Native American style flutes sound beautiful.

    Thank you for sharing this. First, kudos for including the simple clarifier of "inspired", as it shows you respect the Native Americans ... it may seem like a small thing, a small difference to some, but it's a big deal to others and not all videos honor the distinction. Like the other poster, I have watched several other "Make a Native American Flute from PVC pipe" tutorials and yours is one of the best - both in its clarity and thoroughness, and the quality of sound for the final product. I like your choice for the "bird/block" ... many others use the couplers and I don't like that solution. It would have been nice to see you play the flute, for two reasons: 1) so we could hear the entire scale. The Fundamental (root, tonic, ... you called it the Bass note) notes sure sounded crisp and clear (and ready to jump the octave "on demand") and I assume the flute plays as nicely through its range - was the intro music played on that flute? 2) it would have been nice to see your face, your smile and get to "meet" you in that way. Thanks, again. It you ever get inspired to make a similar tutorial on making a larger bore F#4, E4, D4, or even a C4 ... well, it would be appreciated by many, I'm sure - I would point folks to it in a heartbeat! Take Care, Sir - best wishes for 2021!

      Thank you. Yes, the finished flute was played for the intro and outro of the video. As with Native American flutes, this is not pentatonic scale. But here's a short sample: ruclips.net/video/9Cafp-7xU44/видео.html

    You did a wonderful job showing all details but you did not tell the length of the flute when you finish thank you for your video

    • @stoneyrunva
      @stoneyrunva  3 года назад +1

      The overall length will vary slightly with each flute once the key is dialed in by filing it down. Start with 16.5 inches overall length. The finished flute will be about 16 and 7/16ths or so.

    Good video, but can make this shorter than it is now.

      I tried to speed it up where I wasn't providing narrative. And the included staining/sanding process lengthened it significantly. I want to leave it as it is to preserve the in depth detail. Thanks for your comment.

      I stopped making them about a year ago and ran out of them last month with the exception of a couple that are not for sale. Thanks for your comment and interest though.

    How much would you charge for a flute just like you made in this video ? But you don't have to stain it .
