Yes both of those things, plus a lot of people who are in the same place for 52 years of their life… They need a change. That alone is reason enough for him to take this job. The portion of Providence fans who are whining need to get over it and live up to their name of being friars… Because friars practice forgiveness. Ed really doesn’t need to be forgiven for taking this job… But to the extent that the whiners think it was wrong, they need to forgive it and move on.
The Big East was another motivating factor. Although Syracuse and Boston College sailed on, there's always a sense of pride when coaching in the conference. It has something unique about it. Ed Cooley understands that. When Georgetown wins, the Big East wins. I attend Georgetown but grew up as a Villanova Wildcats fan (Philly native). Chasing academic success while maintaining Big East pride motivated me to attend Georgetown.

Georgetown needs to be investigated for tampering. Rather disgusting situation. It is shocking that they would tamper during the season, totally unethical. I never expected Cooley to stay at PC but Georgetown is a disgrace. I hope he fails.

Everyone can say it’s about money and it is, but don’t tamper with a coach during the season with a team contending for a big east title and playing in the NCAA Tournament.

A lot of coaches at Jesuit schools swear, and many of them use far worse words than hell. I think most people agree that the word hell is just about the tamest swear word there is and I think about half of people don’t even consider it a swear anymore especially if you are not telling a person to go to hell.
