Did not expect this one to hit so hard, their lyrics are unreal (also maybe unpopular opinion, but other than "I wanna be your slave" no other english songs of theirs bring up the same emotions as their Italian ones, and actually seeing the meaning now - they're all pure poetry, hope they keep writing in Italian as they gain more international fans!)

    • @dia6olo64

You are not being unpopular because I concur and suspect many others do too.
Their English songs are very good but for me personally they are radio friendly and have a kind of sound you could easily lose amongst a lot of similar sounds, no doubt far more radio/chart friendly though.
That said the Italian songs are very different they are emotional, you feel them without even knowing what they are saying, they just hit harder.
Thinking about it, that’s exactly the difference between the two, you hear the English songs and by that I mean you basically only really hear a tune with little connection whereas with the Italian ones you feel them, they kind of stick with you, songs you feel are the songs that tend to stand the test of time.
Of course it's not black and white with their English/Italian songs in terms of hearing the English ones and feeling the Italian ones because one or two of the English songs can also be felt and one or two of the Italian ones heard. That said and in my opinion of course I mostly hear their English songs and mostly feel their Italian songs.

Honestly I went to check out I wanna be your slave after you mentioned it and I found it very mediocre. Nowhere near the level of Coralie in my opinion and they really should stick to their Italian origins as it's clearly what they are most confortable with (generally speaking, not that they speak English incorrectly pronouncing of the language is clearly good enough)

This is a very good translation, not perfect because it does have some tiny errors but they are really insignificant.
When I say not perfect it’s more because when reading translated Italian lyrics to English, it doesn’t quite carry the same weight, you have to use your imagination a little and interpret some of the words, some of it is just not translatable in that while the words are they are interpreted differently so some meaning is lost.
It’s no doubt the case with a lot of languages but it definitely is with Italian which is quite a poetic language were the words often mean more in Italian than what their face value say they mean in English.
So in this case and for the English speaking community, don’t just read the words here, you kind of almost have to read between the lines and interpret some of what is being said rather than what is actually being said via the translation.

Yesterday Maneskin performed this song on national television in Italy. After the performance Damiano started crying (like me lol). Today he thanked several people who were somehow involved in the making of the song. Among them, he thanked Giorgia, his girlfriend. So, she is 'his' Coraline. Idk if you know about Giorgia, she is an activist and feminist. She has explained several times that she has been in pain since forever, and that pain severely affected her life. Recently, she has been finally rightly diagnosed, and that is why she started talking about her diseases and the path to finally giving them a name. She is a very strong young woman :')

It hurts me so much listening to this song because it reminds me of who i was before. A little kid searching for pure love and kindness in this cruel world. All i wanted was to make everyone happy so i forgot about my own happiness. I always listened to other people's opinions. I thought i had to change myself in order for people to like me. I had done so many sacrifices just to keep people in my life. I was afraid of being alone. After all this emotional damage I became numb and unable to communicate properly with other people. I was afraid of being rejected or thought as weird. And I felt that way until now. This morning I woke up and I realised none of this was my fault. I did my best but it didn't work out. And its fine. I can't make everyone love me. But I can love me. I realized i deserve happiness and true love. I really believed i was the worst person ever. I thought I owe apologies to so many people for who i was. But the only person i owe an apology is myself. I hurted myself more than anyone else ever did. Only because I believed them when they said all this horrible things to me and made me believe I am the problem. All the "bad" things I did was because of trauma. I should stop blaming myself. What I know now is that I always had pure intentions to anyone. And i will always have. So I'm hoping I will find the courage to heal. And for everyone reading this i just want to say: Everything will work. You're not a failure. You're not a fool. You're not the opinion of someone who doesn't know you and who doesn't know what you've been through. You'll heal. You'll be happy again. Just give yourself time.

    Ma dimmi le tue verità
Coraline, Coraline, dimmi le tue verità
Coraline, Coraline, dimmi le tue verità
Coraline, Coraline, dimmi le tue verità
    Coraline Coraline
    Coraline bella come il sole
    Guerriera dal cuore zelante
    Capelli come rose rosse
Preziosi quei fili di rame amore portali da me
    Se senti campane cantare
    Vedrai Coraline che piange
Che prende il dolore degli altri
E poi lo porta dentro lei
Coraline, Coraline, dimmi le tue verità
Coraline, Coraline, dimmi le tue verità
Coraline, Coraline, dimmi le tue verità
    Coraline, Coraline
    E Coraline piange
    Coraline, Coraline
