Love Petra! Gone are the days with the greats like them who had such a powerful gospel message while playing amazing music! #anointed #truth #MessengersoftheLord
This album and More Power to Ya are my favorite ones of Petra. I listened to them over and over again as a new Believer and still enjoy them today, many years later as an adult :-)
Praise God! Awesomeness at its best. God always chooses the best servants to spread His news! Thank you for uploading. Blessings to you and your family!
Yes it is, and thanks so much for reminding us. Especially guys like me who can't remember where I parked my car! So many are going to be glad you cleared that up!
They dont make Christian music like this anymore, thank you for helping make such an awesome album. God bless you. I still love Petra, have since 1982.....
I grew up with these guys they helped me through a lot of hard times when I was a kid in the early 1980s my dad was a traveling evangelist and they were strict Pentecostals they weren't too keen on Christian rock definitely not secular rock that was absolutely not allowed Christian rock was almost as restricted but I talked my parents into buying me the Petra tapes and we would travel in our fifth wheel trailer from revival to Revival town to town state to state and I listen to Petra and one played the drums and whatever respective church we were at at the time good memories great memories I finally saw them in 1984 for the first time at Six Flags in Arlington Texas Morgan cryar opened up for them was amazing I was mesmerised I can't believe Greg Volz still has that same voice he hasn't lost it
First concert I ever attended was Petra in 1984 and never looked back...now 34 years later, I run into Greg at a local grocery store, find out he lives in the neighborhood where my parents live, and his wife works where my sister and mom visit every month. So crazy to run into one of your childhood idols right where you live. Thank you for posting this, as it brings back so many great memories!!!
Me and some friends ushered and took tickets at a Not of This World concert in '83-'84 in MN. I have listened and loved their music for so many years. I just got together with those friends, last week, at a baseball game, and we reminisced about those Petra memories. I put together a cd of my favorite Petra songs and listen to it today. Thanks for this great "Blinded Eyes" video! As always, their songs had a great sound and message.
The message is so profound for our day now! Too many blinded eyes. I have followed CCM since the beginning with groups like Love Song, Larry Norman, Imperials, Chris Christian, David Meece, Dallas Holm and Praise the list can go on. I still listen today but I prefer the groups of the past.
Great video- appreciate the tech work way ahead of its time. Thank you for sharing. What an amazing instrumental bridge with no guitar solo. We didn’t realize it in the moment but that was revolutionary. The video to the bridge makes it even better. 😊
I loved this video when it first came out and still love it!! Brings back so many great memories of seeing Petra live, twice on this tour! Thanks for sharing.
I honestly didn't know there was a video for this amazing song from this wonderful band that I've loved since I was 11. This instantly became one i if my favorite song from Not of this World. You did an amazing job on this video. I love the way you did this video and that you listened to the Father. I've shared it with my brother and some other Christian friends who actually never heard of Petra, Resurrection band, etc. Some got saved in the late 80's. Can't believe that my buddy wasn't introduced to how awesome Christian rock and metal was back in t the 80's. Love Pat. God Bless brothers. ❤
Thanks brother, I appreciate the kind words! I did it in 1984 and when I updated it to HD a few years ago I was glad Petra still believed and supported the message of the video break I did! Some Christian bands don't stand by their strong convictions of the 80's today and that saddens me because God's standards never change!
Great juxtaposition between 3'-20" and 4'-03"!!! Did this back in '84? You were a trend-setter! The 'images' you could toss out there today in 2022 would make the '84....STUFF....look tame. Bro, how I miss Petra....most CCM today...ain't got no 'edginess'....LIGHT vs DARK contrasts as J.C. pointed out.
Thanks! That section is the blinded eyes of the world. I picked this song to do with that in my mind. I was really glad Petra still stands by the message. So many groups from back then have watered down their message today!
I've listened to this album thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of times since discovering Petra around 1984, but I've never seen this video. Glad to get some good shots of Louie's kit in this time frame - I'd kinda worked out that Pied Piper sounds like it has some 5 tom fills at the end. (I know it's Keith Edwards on the album, but still - it's helpful to get a good look at his kit for the Live performance.)
Yes Word Records put it on their very 1st music video reel that was sent to literally thousands of Christian Bookstores, TV stations, etc. And Petra used it for any station or anyone who needed video of the band. I'm glad my original Standard Def is not on RUclips. The quality of this one is so much better in HD. I had so many more tools to use today to do that than I did in 1984. Thanks !
Interesting seeing Rob on keys. John slick left after the Not Of This World tour ended and John Lawry joined right when Beat The System was almost finished. I didn't see rob work on Beat The System album so I guess he was just a tour guy before John lawry came around. And even though Bob is playing his Yamaha guitar synthesizer, this most likely isn't from the System tour, probably just something Inbetween Not Of This World and System.
@@pshimmons Yes! I forgot what the whole name is but it's Yamaha something. Bob used it on the Beat the System tour. It had a special midi pickup, he could blend guitar and synth tones at the same time. There's a video of him soloing where he puts that into action
I like how Greg throws the cowbell and drumstick just in time to grab the microphone. Did he do this during the tour? One of my favorite all time Petra songs.
Derek, I came up with the idea and directed Greg to do the big jump in the beginning but the cowbell was all him. Whether he did it the whole tour, I don't know.
@@RoccoDeLauriSr I saw them play in 1984 at Magic Mountain - Valencia, CA. John Lawry was playing with them. Yes, Gregg used the cowbell there on this song. However, he did but it down on the floor gently when he was done.
Awesome video, awesome song, life-saving message. Thanks for making a great video! Question, do you have anything from their Beat The System Tour, from which the live album was recorded, such as the video? It used to be on RUclips, and I can no longer find it. Total shot in the dark.
Love Petra!

Awesome!
Thanks for sharing. I love Petra!
Awesome video! My wife and I just saw Petra this past weekend at the Illinois State Fair. They STILL rock!
Praise God! Awesomeness at its best. God always chooses the best servants to spread His news! Thank you for uploading. Blessings to you and your family!
what an original riff this song has got and the powerful lyrics! Praise the Lord!
One of my favorite Petra's Song
PETRA GREAT SONG YES BLESSING YOU FOREVER AND FOREVER. 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍.
The coolest Petra JAM. And I'm a dedicated fan.
That's Rob Watson on keys. (If I do say so myself)
You sure got around.
Yes it is, and thanks so much for reminding us. Especially guys like me who can't remember where I parked my car! So many are going to be glad you cleared that up!
Thank you, Rob, I was wondering. I knew it wasn't John Slick or John Lawry.
They dont make Christian music like this anymore, thank you for helping make such an awesome album. God bless you. I still love Petra, have since 1982.....
Whoa!! All these years I just assumed that was John Slick!!

Thank you so much for sharing this! Hardcore Petra fan, and I thought I had seen all of their videos and video clips. Well done video.

Holds up really well for 3/4". Good job Rocco.
Thanks. I put some super sauce on it when I updated it. Multiple effects, film look, etc. Looks better now than the day I finished it!
2022 the same emotion !!!....
It's one of my favorite Petra songs with Greg.
Excelente, esto es increíble, vídeo nunca antes visto. Gracias
Cool video,i never thought there was a video for that song.
Amazing classic video from 80's christian rock ! Great job
Thanks, appreciate it!
Greg X. Volz!
Great song!!!👍

I really like this video. Thank you for making it Rocco! 😁
Wow it’s been more than 30 years since I’ve heard this song.
YEAHH MAN! GOD BLESS!
I was at that concert!!!!!!!!
Que bueno
Wow!! Great to see!
Thank you so much for posting this. My husband and I love Petra and this was thrilling to watch.

Great job, I’m from Newport News Virginia. Had no idea this was shot right around the corner from me :)
I remember this tour like it was yesterday? Kind of? Still have the fully signed poster.
BEST. PETRA. ERA.
Best Christian band
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing it
Sensacional!!!
Petra Means Rock 2020
Wow! A Petra video with John Slick. I had no idea such a thing existed.
Michael Tifft My first thoughts exactly. My first Petra concert was May 1985, so I never saw him perform before.
That is not John Slick. John had already left the band by this point. If you look above you'll see it was Rob Watson on keys in this video.
Oh ok. Interesting. I just assumed. I was wondering about the date because I thought Slick was gone by that time.
I had no idea they had a video of this song. Very awesome find. I love finding early (ish) era Petra video. :)
Glad you liked it Mark. Please share cause most people don't know about it! Thanks!
Ahhhhhh, Christian music with biblically based lyrics actually about Jesus! The good old days!
Thanks David. That is exactly why I picked this song to do the video on. I had it visualized in my mind before I shot it!
Greg's voice though. Just one look at Jesus!!!!

I shot this during the Not Of This World Tour. I have the poster framed on my wall from that night, I was the promoter for it also.
Who is Rob? I just assumed that was John Slick.
@@Jsmall80 Me too.
Wait… that’s a guitar synth? The things you learn on RUclips!

Based on Matthew 15;14
1 Corinthians 4; 3-6
Ephesians 4;18
Cool. Greg is a bit like a mime - but with words :-) 🤣
I didnt know this existed.
Who's the mystery keyboard player?
The Beard of Greg X Volz was the primary inspiration for my beard.

Thanks Big Green. No I only did this 1st video for them. I suggest you contact them on their Petra Facebook page or Greg X. Volz's page. God bless!
Did Bob ever do any guitar synth stuff with that GR-77?
Go to Petra's Facebook and ask Bob, I don't know.
