OMG isnt this a 1929 jewel of a tune?!! It's almost pre code! The modern audio presence it has is amazing to me! Hope this finds you well and doing good. Thankyou for your exceptional jazz channel Prozoot! You're the best promoter of 1920's hotcha out there 😍 🎶
......thanks, yes this is a great record, and yet it never got the attention it deserves. Wonder why! Glad to see you are still tuned in and enjoying the music. As always, I appreciate the kind words.
Isn't it amazing how much more quality sound is on these old 78s than the playing machines back in their day could reproduce! We have over 3,000 78 records dating back to 1911 and they play well on our state-of-the-art Zenith hi fi, vintage 1966. But that machine still doesn't reach this level of prefection. I know its your secret, prozoot, but we'd appreciate if you'd give us some hints someday as to how you do it!
There is also a non-vocal take of this...supposed to be for German issue but I have it on an American Brunswick as well. Cool record, with or without vocal!
I wonder if the arranger could be Gene Gifford? The brass ascending phrase around 2:34 sounds exactly like one heard in Casa Loma's Okeh version of "San Sue Strut". Could some of these guys have gone to Casa Loma the following year? Just conjecture...
I assume no one here has any idea who the members of the vocal trio are? I have it on rumor that Roy is the lead singer here (not just the bandleader) but what about the rest of the vocal crew?
The tricky thing about it is that the label is the same as the regular vocal issue...I didn't realize what I had until I played it. I think it must have been some mistake at the pressing plant...lucky me!
a slice of heaven.....thanks.
OH! HOW I LOVE YOUR BEAUTIFUL POSTINGS!!!!!!!!! This Is Fantastic!!!
The vocal group sounds good, a great recording. I love the roaring '20's, great dance music.

Wow, great music and I envy your record sleeve collection there.
Also Love The Photo Of Harold Lloyd From Safty Last. He`s One Of My Favorits.
By the way of this great tune: Congratulation for this fantastic collection !
I have quite a few non-vocal Brunswicks, but have never heard of "Me and the Clock" with no vocal. It must be great!

Just realized how apropos it was for a guy named Ingraham to play a number about clocks...
I think the guys at the Brunswick pressing plant must have been doing a beer break. I have an Isham Jones with the same label on both sides.
I have 3 like that!

Yup...he was over a neighboring roof while filming this-but it was still three stories up-with no safety net:-)
Recorded in April 1929.
