It’s interesting music usually gives you a push into on direction of emotion like hype or depression or rage, whereas the quran gives you a blissful peaceful state of mind, I think if you get bored when listening to quran chances are you haven’t found a qari that you really like so listen to alot of different recitators find your favourite qari , mines abdurrahman mossad and sherif mostafa.I quit music just 1-2 weeks ago and my mental health is so much better I can’t describe , now I don’t even feel like going back It’s also such a difference when you look at lyrics written by junkys and garbage people promoting sex drugs violence to the word of Allah

Nāfi’ narrated that Ibn ‘Umar رضي الله عنهما heard the sound of a wind instrument playing. As a result of this he placed his fingers in his ears and turned his riding camel away from the road (on which the music was playing). Ibn ‘Umar said: “Nāfi’ can you hear it?” I said: “Yes”. Ibn ‘Umar continued riding with his fingers in his ears until I said: “I can’t hear it anymore.” After that, Ibn ‘Umar removed his fingers from his ears and changed the road he was riding on. Then Ibn ‘Umar رضي الله عنهما said: “I saw the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ place his fingers in his ears when he heard wind instruments and music playing.” ● [أبو داود ٤٩٤٣ ،احمد ٢\٨ ،صححه الألباني] as-Suyūtī رحمه الله said the example of Nāfi’ is a proof that there is no sin upon the one who listens to music unintentionally.
This channel has to be seen by my fellow classmates, not only do they believe in zodiac signs as a muslim but dance and listen to music and just call me crazy for stopping them. May Allah guide us all to the right path.
Nowadays with the technology advancing and music becoming more and more common, we would have to put our hands on ears all the time, which is impossible. It became impossible to not commit sins nowadays, because even if you don't listen to music someone else does. My house is full of music because my siblings scroll social media all the time.

We are so brainwashed that if there is music and we put our hands in to our ears to block the sound ppls will call us crazy. I remember i was talking with my friends on the phone and i said I don't listen to music because it makes me depressed and they made so many jokes about it for so many times.
I live in Italy and I am the only muslim in the class. When the teacher asked to a boy if they listen music and he told he don't listen to It, all the people laughed
Jazakallah brother for the information! But quick note guys: You don't have to put your fingers over your ears EVERY time music is being played though. What I do when hearing music is try not to listen or focus on it too much. Remember brothers and sisters that there is a difference between hearing and listening, but if the music is really bothering you can probably cover your ears. It's not really mandatory to do that but ig it's recommended to? Idk but anytime I focus on the music too much I'll probably direct my attention to something else or ill cover my ears.
Ye sunnah means highly recommend because the Prophet Muhammad PBUH did it and you get good deeds for doing it BUT you don’t get bad deeds/sins if you don’t do it.

i am muslim and i cant help listenting to music its my therapy and makes me happy ppl say it changes you but it doesnt change me i believe in Allah and love him i know there are artist who make devilish videos and i dont support it ill try to stop but its so hard
We Catholics believe music can be used for very good things, such as praise to God and to convey stories, but its often misused as well. I believe we tend to naturally like music and beats because God created it that way, and music is often structured and orderly. Music is like many sounds, can be very heavenly like a lot of nature.

And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, 'Return to us tomorrow.' Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection." This is one of the main reasons I’m not a Muslim. I don’t believe God would tell us to avoid ALL music. I prefer God as told in the bile who encourages us to sing and dance appropriately.

Many comments say music is haram, while others instruct that listening and singing music is ok. This is the problem with Islam and the Hadiths which were written 200plus years after the death of Muhammad . But the Holy Bible on the other hand is perfect and consistent when speaking in music and all matters. Addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart. With all due respect i dont understand anything you are talking about coz im not a muslim and i like music because it helps me to calm down . I dont think covering your ears when music is playing is something anyone should do as long as they are human beings . You guys are religious i respect that but you cannot always brag about your religion everywhere you go brother ,you gotta fit in with other people in different surroundings and adapt yourself. Listening to music is not a sin .You guys are taking these religious stuff too seriously . . Ok so for historical context, this was during the time of belly dancing and dancing women and music to attract the men. You can argue that's what's happening now, but as far as I can tell they were referring to string music and music that was intended to entice. Poems were often sang and during weddings there would be drums and other music instruments to celebrate not to allure.

Meant with respect, honesty and kindness, these points sum it up in plain language: 1) Both the vibration of vocal chords, known as singing, and the vibrations caused by playing instruments, are music. 2) The Qu'ran (considered in Islam to be the complete, authoritative and unadulterated word of god and its holiest book) does not outright forbid music in the form of instruments or singing.

Imam al-Ghazzali, one of the most famous Muslim scholars, writing almost a thousand years ago, reported several Ahadith and came to the following conclusion: “All these Ahadith are reported by al-Bukhari and singing and playing are not haram.” Al-Ghazzali also convincingly answered many critics who had raised such objections in his book, “Ihya Ulum al-Deen.” Those who are opposed to music, quote this Hadith: “Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 69, Number 494v: Narrated Abu ‘Amir or Abu Malik Al-Ash’ari: that he heard the Prophet saying, “From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful. And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, ‘Return to us tomorrow.’ Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection.” It is dangerous to form an opinion on the basis of one or two Hadiths, and Hadith literature should be considered as raw data. Each Hadith should be evaluated and compared with other Ahadith as well as with other historical sources. The problem is that we usually don’t know the context of each Hadith, and it is difficult to know under what circumstances the Prophet (s.a.w) made certain statements. The above Hadith most likely refers to musical instruments used in drinking parties during the period of “jahiliyaa” (pre-Islamic era) in which even men wore silk clothes and orgies included illegal sexual intercourse. Taken by itself, the Hadith should also ban silk, but that is not the case and silk is permitted for women. That is why it is important to look at all Ahadith and not come to a hasty conclusion. There are other Ahadiths which clearly show that musical instruments are permitted: For example this Hadith: “Volume 6, Book 61, Number 568: Narrated Abu Musa: That the Prophet said to him’ ‘O Abu Musa! You have been given one of the musical wind-instruments of the family of David .’” Critics also argue that music instruments are ONLY allowed during festivities. They quote this Hadith: Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 15, Number 72: Narrated Aisha: Abu Bakr came to my house while two small Ansari girls were singing beside me the stories of the Ansar concerning the Day of Buath. And they were not singers. Abu Bakr said protestingly, “Musical instruments of Satan in the house of Allah’s Apostle !” It happened on the ‘Id day and Allah’s Apostle said, “O Abu Bakr! There is an ‘Id for every nation and this is our ‘Id.” That Hadith again has to be studied in proper context because the Prophet (pbuh) not only permitted singing on other occasions, he recommended it. “Aishah narrated that when her relative was married to an Ansari man, the Prophet (s.a.w) said: ‘Aishah, did they have any entertainment? The Ansar are fond of Entertainment.” He didn’t say they were fond of entertainment only on festivities or that it was wrong but allowed on some occasions. In another Hadith, “Ibn Abbas said, ‘Aishah gave a girl relative of hers in marriage to a man of the Ansar. The Prophet (s.a.w) came and asked, ‘Did you send a singer along with her?’ ‘No,’ she said. The Messenger of Allah then said: ‘The Ansar are a people who love poetry. You should have sent along someone who would sing, ‘here we come, to you we come, greet us as we greet you.'” Music-haters also reference this Hadith: “Anas ibn Malik related from the Prophet (saws) that, “two cursed sounds are that of the musical instrument(mizmaar) played on the occasion of joy and grace, and the woeful wailing upon the occasion of adversity.” It is not difficult to find contradictory Ahadith. However, almost all scholars of Islam are of the view that singing is not only permitted, it is recommended on the occasions of Eid, weddings, births, aqiqahs, and on the return of a traveler. {See Yusuf al-Qardawi’s “The Lawful and the Prohibited in Islam.”] Qardawi in the same book also states the following: “It is reported that many Companions of the Prophet (may Allah be pleased with them) as well as second generation Muslim scholars used to listen to singing and did not see anything wrong with it. As for the Ahadith which have been reported against singing, they all are weak and have been shown by researchers to be unsound. The jurist Abu Bakr al-Arabi says, ‘No sound Hadith is available concerning the prohibition of singing,’ while Ibn Hazm says, ‘ All that is reported on this subject is false and fabricated…he who listens to singing intending neither obedience nor disobedience in doing something neutral and harmless, which is similar to going to the park and walking around, standing by a window

I’m a Black Baptist from the United States. Music gave us comfort as slaves and set us free when out time came. His eye is on the sparrow , and I know He watches me. I have been debating Islam and find it comforting in some ways. I enjoy the five daily prayers and I don’t drink alcohol or eat pork. However the religion seems full of rituals and regulations that doesn’t make sense. I believe I am going to Heaven based on my belief in one God and my devotion to that God through prayer and good deeds. Excuse me while I turn up the radio and dance.
Music did not set you free, Allah set you free. Perhaps music was the very reason your people went through these calamities, Allah knows while you know not. It is important to not close your heart or eyes once you see something that opposes you. We are from two separate cultures. Yes I believe in Allah and I believe Jesus is not divine. When I meet my Maker, He will judge me based on my deeds. Listening to music that gives Americans Black People hope is not sinful. Have you ever been to a Black Baptist Church? I have been to several mosques and I respect the beliefs and actions. For me Muslims and Christians need to stop bickering over music. Many Muslims do listen to music so I feel you all are slightly hypocritical. By the way, I took my shahada three years ago. I pray five times a day, don’t eat pork, and I don’t drink alcohol. I have been homeless three times and have prayed in Walmart parking lots in America. I am far from perfect but no one will guilt me out of something that is a part of who I am. What if I demanded that the hijab should come off because you are in America? My frustration lies with the legalistic approach to religion. Christians are just as guilty. I am not interested in researching whether music is harem or halal. My interest lies in doing actual good deeds. My interest is in finding homes for the homeless. My interest lies in the genocide of Palestine. Evil and Evildoers are everywhere. To me Satan is distracting us by having us wonder if music is evil? God created music. Allah created instruments. There is music that is definitely harem but listening to a Symphony or sitting in a Black Church listening to heartfelt singing is truly giving God the Glory. I enjoy aspects of Christianity and I think the Islamic religion has been of great benefit to billions of people. The discipline of the prayers and the cleanliness of the food is beautiful. No, the nasheed playing over this video is not haram. It's completely vocal, what is haram are instruments and the words being used in the song, and music has instruments with bad lyrics.

It’s interesting music usually gives you a push into on direction of emotion like hype or depression or rage, whereas the quran gives you a blissful peaceful state of mind, I think if you get bored when listening to quran chances are you haven’t found a qari that you really like so listen to alot of different recitators find your favourite qari , mines abdurrahman mossad and sherif mostafa.I quit music just 1-2 weeks ago and my mental health is so much better I can’t describe , now I don’t even feel like going back

Nāfi’ narrated that Ibn ‘Umar رضي الله عنهما heard the sound of a wind instrument playing.
As a result of this he placed his fingers in his ears and turned his riding camel away from the road (on which the music was playing).
Ibn ‘Umar said: “Nāfi’ can you hear it?” I said: “Yes”. Ibn ‘Umar continued riding with his fingers in his ears until I said: “I can’t hear it anymore.” After that, Ibn ‘Umar removed his fingers from his ears and changed the road he was riding on.
Then Ibn ‘Umar رضي الله عنهما said: “I saw the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ place his fingers in his ears when he heard wind instruments and music playing.”

as-Suyūtī رحمه الله said the example of Nāfi’ is a proof that there is no sin upon the one who listens to music unintentionally.

Nowadays with the technology advancing and music becoming more and more common, we would have to put our hands on ears all the time, which is impossible. It became impossible to not commit sins nowadays, because even if you don't listen to music someone else does. My house is full of music because my siblings scroll social media all the time.

What I do when hearing music is try not to listen or focus on it too much. Remember brothers and sisters that there is a difference between hearing and listening, but if the music is really bothering you can probably cover your ears. It's not really mandatory to do that but ig it's recommended to? Idk but anytime I focus on the music too much I'll probably direct my attention to something else or ill cover my ears.

Ok so for historical context, this was during the time of belly dancing and dancing women and music to attract the men. You can argue that's what's happening now, but as far as I can tell they were referring to string music and music that was intended to entice. Poems were often sang and during weddings there would be drums and other music instruments to celebrate not to allure.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“Among my ummah there will certainly be people who permit zina, silk, alcohol and musical instruments…” (Narrated by al-Bukhari ta’liqan, no. 5590; narrated as mawsul by al-Tabarani and al-Bayhaqi. See al-Silsilah al-Sahihah by al-Albani, 91)
Meant with respect, honesty and kindness, these points sum it up in plain language:
1) Both the vibration of vocal chords, known as singing, and the vibrations caused by playing instruments, are music.
2) The Qu'ran (considered in Islam to be the complete, authoritative and unadulterated word of god and its holiest book) does not outright forbid music in the form of instruments or singing.

Imam al-Ghazzali, one of the most famous Muslim scholars, writing almost a thousand years ago, reported several Ahadith and came to the following conclusion: “All these Ahadith are reported by al-Bukhari and singing and playing are not haram.” Al-Ghazzali also convincingly answered many critics who had raised such objections in his book, “Ihya Ulum al-Deen.”
Those who are opposed to music, quote this Hadith:
“Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 69, Number 494v: Narrated Abu ‘Amir or Abu Malik Al-Ash’ari: that he heard the Prophet saying, “From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful. And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, ‘Return to us tomorrow.’ Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection.”
It is dangerous to form an opinion on the basis of one or two Hadiths, and Hadith literature should be considered as raw data. Each Hadith should be evaluated and compared with other Ahadith as well as with other historical sources. The problem is that we usually don’t know the context of each Hadith, and it is difficult to know under what circumstances the Prophet (s.a.w) made certain statements.
The above Hadith most likely refers to musical instruments used in drinking parties during the period of “jahiliyaa” (pre-Islamic era) in which even men wore silk clothes and orgies included illegal sexual intercourse. Taken by itself, the Hadith should also ban silk, but that is not the case and silk is permitted for women. That is why it is important to look at all Ahadith and not come to a hasty conclusion. There are other Ahadiths which clearly show that musical instruments are permitted: For example this Hadith:
“Volume 6, Book 61, Number 568: Narrated Abu Musa:
That the Prophet said to him’ ‘O Abu Musa! You have been given one of the musical wind-instruments of the family of David .’”
Critics also argue that music instruments are ONLY allowed during festivities. They quote this Hadith:
Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 15, Number 72: Narrated Aisha: Abu Bakr came to my house while two small Ansari girls were singing beside me the stories of the Ansar concerning the Day of Buath. And they were not singers. Abu Bakr said protestingly, “Musical instruments of Satan in the house of Allah’s Apostle !” It happened on the ‘Id day and Allah’s Apostle said, “O Abu Bakr! There is an ‘Id for every nation and this is our ‘Id.”
That Hadith again has to be studied in proper context because the Prophet (pbuh) not only permitted singing on other occasions, he recommended it. “Aishah narrated that when her relative was married to an Ansari man, the Prophet (s.a.w) said: ‘Aishah, did they have any entertainment? The Ansar are fond of Entertainment.” He didn’t say they were fond of entertainment only on festivities or that it was wrong but allowed on some occasions.
In another Hadith, “Ibn Abbas said, ‘Aishah gave a girl relative of hers in marriage to a man of the Ansar. The Prophet (s.a.w) came and asked, ‘Did you send a singer along with her?’ ‘No,’ she said. The Messenger of Allah then said: ‘The Ansar are a people who love poetry. You should have sent along someone who would sing, ‘here we come, to you we come, greet us as we greet you.'”
Music-haters also reference this Hadith:
“Anas ibn Malik related from the Prophet (saws) that, “two cursed sounds are that of the musical instrument(mizmaar) played on the occasion of joy and grace, and the woeful wailing upon the occasion of adversity.”
It is not difficult to find contradictory Ahadith. However, almost all scholars of Islam are of the view that singing is not only permitted, it is recommended on the occasions of Eid, weddings, births, aqiqahs, and on the return of a traveler. {See Yusuf al-Qardawi’s “The Lawful and the Prohibited in Islam.”] Qardawi in the same book also states the following: “It is reported that many Companions of the Prophet (may Allah be pleased with them) as well as second generation Muslim scholars used to listen to singing and did not see anything wrong with it. As for the Ahadith which have been reported against singing, they all are weak and have been shown by researchers to be unsound. The jurist Abu Bakr al-Arabi says, ‘No sound Hadith is available concerning the prohibition of singing,’ while Ibn Hazm says, ‘ All that is reported on this subject is false and fabricated…he who listens to singing intending neither obedience nor disobedience in doing something neutral and harmless, which is similar to going to the park and walking around, standing by a window

I’m a Black Baptist from the United States. Music gave us comfort as slaves and set us free when out time came.

I have been debating Islam and find it comforting in some ways.
I enjoy the five daily prayers and I don’t drink alcohol or eat pork.
However the religion seems full of rituals and regulations that doesn’t make sense.

Music did not set you free, Allah set you free. Perhaps music was the very reason your people went through these calamities, Allah knows while you know not. It is important to not close your heart or eyes once you see something that opposes you. Rather you should be open and look at things from a justified perspective by looking at all the evidences and reasons.
