Yoshiki is about 7 years younger than I am, and that puts him in a similar generation of impressionable kids who were blown away by KISS in the 70s, but when you took away the makeup and the stage theatrics they were hardly Dream Theater musically, were they ? Other than AC-DC, we had very few genuine rock bands onscreen here in Oz - even the legendary Aussie pub rock bands of the era were pushed aside by crap like Abba and the Bee Gees - and from memory that first KISS clip exploded before Van Halen released the Kinks cover that gave rock fans some hope down here. Yoshiki has done exceptionally well with music that - for the most part - I don't find particularly memorable compared to many of KISS' contemporaries.
Greatest artist out there so much meaning to each sound such perfection he is. No one can imitate yoshiki and his way of creating music the way he does the god of creativity to music

I don't know why this version of Black Diamond isn't more popular. I've been a KISS fan since between Asylum and Crazy Nights releases. I was born the same year their first album came out so I remember glimpses of the band in the 70's but I was too young to really know anything about them. I became a huge fan of a lot of 70's era bands in the 80's because there was so much fluff you had to discover KISS, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, The Ramones and others. Anyway I have been in conversations with fans and people who didn't like KISS but Black Diamond was always an exception. They didn't like KISS but they did like Black Diamond. This version with the instruments playing the lyrics and even the explosions is incredible. I've loved it since it came out 30 years ago and it still makes me wish I could play piano every time I hear it
