this was genuinely so motivating. i’m currently in a massive reading slump (as is the usual for me this time of year), but your motivation for reading inspired me to actually open a book for the first time in weeks 😭 so thank you very much ! p.s. the idiot is one of my favorite pieces of literature. i hope you enjoy it 🤍
i read a lot of classic literature (and also have no one to talk about it with) so this video was really enjoyable, i loved the haul. a lot of these books are also on my TBR list, like i've been wanting to read "Oliver Twist" for the same reasons lol. i will say "The Old Man and the Sea" is the only work by Hemingway that i can say i enjoyed, so perhaps you might enjoy it as well (and if not, it is short after all). i really enjoy ur videos, they're always so relaxing.
As someone with ocd, it also bothers when things are uneven. But then I remember that nothing is even in wonderland. Most candles would be uneven and even upside down in Alices’s world. 😊
What a great haul 💕 I hope you have a good time Paris! You may have already read it but I have to recommend A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway, its about his time in Paris in the 1920s and the authors, artists and people he knew, he goes to cafes and art galleries, and describes Paris in such an interesting way. It's not very long, but I found it to be very satisfying.
I saw a video of you few days ago where you talked about how much you did want to go to paris, amazing to see that yo're going soon. And also, i want to thank to you 'cause I started reading Sylvia Plath and she become my litterally favorite writer (after virginia woolf and joyce), so, thank u, I hope the best for u
I also have a dream of having a home library! But I do l get rid of books that I read and didn't like(which rarely happens) but still, it makes me feel better about the way I consume books lol. Dorian gray is the only classic i've read so far. Will definitely be adding some of these to my list!
"The Plague" is brilliant. A very powerful novel. Turgenev's "Spring Torrents" is very good as well as is the c. 1990 American film version, with Timothy Hutton. I do love Joan Didion''s novels, especially "Democracy". Eve Babitz's "Slow Days, Fast Company" is an old favorite of mine.
вы так приятно и интересно рассказываете 🙇🏼 несмотря на то, что почти все книги из вашего списка я прочитала, было очень интересно смотреть 🙏🏻 спасибо! 🤍
There's a great selection here! I'm currently reading a 700 page biography of Queen Elizabeth the II that I think is going to take me a while but I hope I finish it soon so I can tackle more books in my tbr.
The book about Thoreau in jail is hilarious. I can’t believe his one night could take up an entire book, even as a play. He mentions his jail time in his short book Civil Disobedience if you’re interested in his thoughts around that. It might be more interesting. lol.
after you read The Double check out the Jesse Eisenberg movie by the same name, it's based on it. Amazing film, super strange but in a good way, everything from the acting to the aesthetic, severely underrated imo
I always hated reading plays as well and then at the end of the year I had to read A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams for class and actually and really really liked it! So there probably is hope. I honestly feel like if you like poetry and find a play that is written lyrically, you‘ll enjoy it.
Naaaaah!!! The accusation in misogyny hurted me:) Read the Pot-bouille by Emile Zola you'll get the male version of Nana! (And if you liked it, continue with the Au bonheur des Dames -- The Ladies' Paradise... and you will find yourself in the rabbithole of the Rougon-Macquart) Very nice haul!
also I realized that for some reason my brain keeps equating Zola with the character Muffat so I think that’s where my misogyny accusation comes in the play - I definitely have so more reading of his to get to!
@@romneyellen I understand, Zola is definitely good in writing hateable characters (and loveables too). Oh, and the Ladies Paradise or The Belly of Paris are very interesting for the history of Paris! But if you want some lighthearted French contemporary cuteness for the lightweight moments in Paris read the books of Antoine Laurain!
romney I recently watched the before sunrise trilogy and I feel like you would really these films! I wasn't sure if you had already seen them but I thought I would recommend them if not! also this video was so lovely, have the best time in paris 💌

“The idiot” is such a crazy but sad book. I feel soo depressed every time I read it. Nastasya Filippovna is THE IT GIRL!
Lovely video...just confirmed I really need to read Women Who Ran with the Wolves. Thanks xo
I promise you will love it!!

Such a perfect video! We have such a similar taste in books
thank you so much! 💌
on the topic of books - have you seen the manuscript editions of jane austen’s books? they are so aesthetic!
I don’t think I have! Do you know what the publisher is?

Haha same here, I finished it last week for my AP English Literature class-totally life changing. I’m now reading The Glass Menagerie for pleasure.
I hated reading Shakespeare in high school but I got into ancient Greek drama and comedy and loved it. Aristophanes is my favourite!
okay good to know!! 💌
