    Ok are the pipes under the ground that you’d put for dirty kitchen. Next the blue room , will the post for the upstairs go on top of the pipes , should have moved the pipe out or did the post first

    Great lumber choices… it’s fascinating how they cut lumber with a chainsaw… a little too much waste for my liking… But you use what you have. Buy more of that lumber… it’s too great of a price to pass up 👍🏻

    Is the mahogany termite-proof? Are you using it for framing? I've only seen mahogany used for furniture here in the States.

    • @offgridislandfamily
      @offgridislandfamily  16 дней назад

      Right. It's basically insect proof. They go for lots of softer woods before mahogany. And with a little treatment, it's pretty sure they won't chew into it.

    Shame on you Aaron, force feeding Jhaja like that. The way he was using that chainsaw is a textbook kickback situation, you know head splitting technique. That timber was nice looking stuff.

    i get confused about "mahogany".....from what i read there is no real mahogany in the Philippines.....it is a different species....... there is some good reading about it. I think they said real mahogany is an invasive species and grows fast but does not support wildlife

    • @offgridislandfamily
      @offgridislandfamily  15 дней назад

      You may be right about that. The other hardwood is Jamalina (probably / certainly spelled wrong), but still the 'mahogany' they have here is far more beautiful and does resist insects and rot.

      You may be right, however, RUclips is HARDLY making us rich. We are building as finances allow and we often have to take breaks in construction. Our friends and neighbors around us also know we are not rich and simply doing the best we can with what we have.
