  • In this episode, I get a fancy new intro made and replace the gas tank on my bike with a much better one, but it takes some work to make it better!

    Looking forward to doing this on a 95 honda magna gas tank, hopefully turns out well like on this vid! Thanks for the tutorial!

    It would seem rolling the tank around the concrete would cause more work (paint and structure) damage. Unless of course your repainting, and perhaps adding some bondo.

      It most definitely would cause a lot of damage to roll it around on the ground, but I only shook it around while holding it in the air. There was no damage to the tank whatsoever.

    one more question.. Did you ever try to undent metal with hot water? If so, does it really work as people say? Or not exactly.

    I'm sorry if you mentioned it, but what is the origin of the mattress topper and why was it so rusted?

    • @RonaldFinger
      @RonaldFinger  6 лет назад +2

      It was the only used tank I could find online for this bike! It’s not too common so parts are pretty scarce, especially gas tanks. Rust is just pretty typical for old tanks that have been sitting for years

    But why do you spill so mutch fuel on the ground. I get that tha bucket is not so easy to pour everything in and spillage will happen, but it is a lot. But especially, how do you clean it up.

      Old post i know but always remember, fuel is made from oil, so use a degreaser or something that removes oil, also don't leave it too long.

    When you let the vinegar sit should you keep the cap off or leave it on. Also how full did you fill the tank?

    • @rjswas
      @rjswas 3 года назад

      Old post i know, but the vid showed how much kind of when he showed the inside after filling and letting it sit., fill the tank and leave it for a few hours to a day at most leaving the cap off, once ready cap it then shake it a bit to excite the stuff that has settled.

    not sure why you'd put vinegar on a mattress topper? why not laundry detergent?

    Hey, I have the same bike as you and I managed to pull the hose off the line that goes down into the carbs that is hooked up to the prime on the petcock, would you have tips on getting this back on?

    • @RonaldFinger
      @RonaldFinger  6 лет назад

      I’m not sure what more to tell you than to just put it back on... did it come off on the petcock side or the carb side?

    • @LordRevan365
      @LordRevan365 6 лет назад

      Ronald Finger carb side ☹. The clamp is gone and I have big hands so not sure if I could just try and wiggle it on? And either way thanks for such a quick response on an older video

    • @RonaldFinger
      @RonaldFinger  6 лет назад +1

      Ah yeah that’s a little more difficult to get to, at least with the carbs still on. If you don’t want to remove them, you should probably take it off the petcock as well just so it’s easier to deal with. But as long as the tank is off, you should be able to just wiggle it into place. It might help to go to an auto parts store and get a longer piece of fuel line and cut it to length once you get it in. But either way, it would help to add some oil (motor oil, marvel mystery, 3 in 1, doesn’t matter) to the end of the line so it slides on easier. It’s annoying to put back on, but definitely doable! I’ve had to do it plenty of times. I hope this helps!

    what size fuel line is on the bike. I got a zr7 lately, but the fuel line has a small leak

      just take the line off and bring it to a supplier to match the bore

    Kinda disappointed in the way you displayed putting the gas tank back on..I was trying to use this video for reference because I wanna make sure I put the hoses back on in the right spot but the video was very unclear.

      @@RonaldFinger didn't mean to come across as complaining just was posting feedback. I appreciate the video and quick response. I was able to get everything back together and it ran great. Just tend to second guess myself. All the extra hoses I was concerned was overflow drains for the carbs.

      @@oztinc To be honest mate, if you pulled it off and couldn't work out how to put it back then I'm scared for you.... lol joking, but at the same time i know you worked it out.. here is a hint though and also what i do when working on bikes or cars, use your phone (if it has a camera) or something that can take photos and snap shot it all.

    @Ronald Finger. Hello mate, I own a ZR7S as well and I am struggling to work out why my fuel gauge shows "full" all the time. Have you any suggestions?

    • @RonaldFinger
      @RonaldFinger  5 лет назад +2

      It’s likely that it’s either the float arm being stuck up and reading that level constantly, or it could be a bad level sender (the potentiometer) and no signal automatically reads full. It’s possible there’s something else but those are the first two things that make sense to me!

    • @brewmyteabag1830
      @brewmyteabag1830 5 лет назад

      @@RonaldFinger Hiya mate, thanks so much for the reply. So riding back from work today the fuel gauge kicked back in and was around 3/4 full.
      If it happens again should I replace the entire unit, like what you've done in this video or is there something else I should do?
      It seems like this "full" thing is happening randomly and will spring back too the actual level without me doing anything.
