I had a best friend who stopped talking to me one day, and I didnt understand so I had a lot of anxiety but this allowed me to reevaluate my other friendships
For years I've always been somewhat distant from people, knowing not to go all out because I'm INCREDIBLY easy to get overly attached

I had a best friend and it ended back in junior year. We were absolutely inseparable...eventually she and I grew apart and the final blow was when she told me one thing and her boyfriend another and it all came full circle. It's hard to get over it but after a while you just gotta let go

I had a Best Friend back in the day and we were like 2 peas in a pod. Everyone around us kept trying to separate us saying we shouldn't be friends. At the time I didn't understand it, but as we grew older I began to realize we really didn't have All that much in common. Our phone conversations were boring. She called me more than I called her. After a while we just stopped talking to each other. I lived my life and she lived hers.

What's the point of this story
I’ve had best friends who I hang out with all the time but I got stabbed in the back numerous times, they stole from me, lied to me, ditched me and used me as a bank account when I barely had any money to my name! I got guilt trip so many times by them… All I wanted was to be a friend and help out and that’s what I gave to them but when I needed a friend to talk to or ask one of them to help me out, I got pushed to the side, ignored, attacked physically, emotionally and mentally, threw me away like I was trash when I had nothing to my name and made fun of me behind my back and on social media… I moved on and I’m glad that I have better friends who look out for me and those who treated me “like a friend” are begging me to be friends with them and are willing to do anything but I gave myself so much time to forgive and forget them for good! Starting right now…

I can definitely see why both girls were told their too much. Because they are too much at times. Especially Diane. Her whole life is an example of doing too much with being unnecessarily mean and disrespectful to everyone including her own family.

Eh. I feel that nobody is ever too much for people that genuinely support them. You can say "hey, sometimes I need space & time to myself" but when you tell someone they're "too much" its misplacing the accountability. Sometimes people DO need a break, but to push it off on the other person rather than take accountability isnt a trait any good friend has in my opinion

This has happened to me before, and looking back, I probably was too much, but it hurt when I called her and she pretended it wasn't her. I moved on; I refuse to be friends with someone who refuses to be friends with me.
She pretended it wasn't her?! That's wild and so foul! I am so sorry.
This happened to me but I don't think the break as organic as it seemed because it came on the heels of the good friend not being guarded with my personal possession. Looking back I think that was a way out of being held accountable of whatever happened to personal things valued at almost $5k. In talking to the person's mom they gave me insight to what they may have done with them and I partly blame myself because the person has never really been responsible and now I am not handcuffed with always getting them out of jams. I do not miss them as much as I used to but it is just the way it went down that still stings but not as much as it used to.

You're ruining someone's birthday just to have the final say, that's literally only solidifying why the girl does not want to be friends with her. I get that she's a character but it's sounds kind of like you identify with ruining things for other people just because it didn't go your way. Which is weird. Some advice, talk to your friends, stop being petty because it's "just something you'd do". If none of this applies to you just ignore it but I'll leave it here for anyone else who thinks it's okay to be petty.

Second, if someone tells you that they don't want to be your friend because you are "too much" and they walk away, it is horrible advice to tell a teenage girl that she needs to keep pestering a person for them to tell them how to change just to keep a friend. What is too much for one person may be just enough for someone else.

This girl and me had been friends since the 6th grade, we would fight but always make up until one day in the 6th grade. It was during gym class where she told other girls and one of those girls told me that she thought I was "a pest." It broke my heart, and it still hurts to this day, and I hate her now, but I'm glad it happened. I was reintroduced to anime at that time, and I was able to meet people who as liked it and one of them has been my best friend/sworn brother for 20 years.
When people give you criticism, sometimes you should take it and look introspectively. Diane is a mean person in the show, and that WOULD be hard to be friends with
@Kadeem Henry i think people somtimes use "keeping things real" as an excuse or a defense for their harsh and cold behaviors. People can keep things real, without being harsh / cold. You can be warm, and still "keep it real".

@Kadeem Henry yes perhaps... But kindness and warmth in a person makes them easier to be around. I only say this from my own life experience. I have had friends like Diane, and they're not good energy, and they're tough to bring to other social events.. they give off cold vibes that makes it harder for others to approach them, even for small talk.
