If pauses bothers you so much, just listen to the audio version.cuz mv has a story to tell and needs those scenes of pauses to create a cinamatic tension.. . cinematography is an important aspect of BTS due to their storyline and eventually became a trademark of their label BIG HiT.

Correct. Hybe is not and has never been a part of the big 3.
The big 3 is SM, YG, and JYP.
Sometimes Hybe is called part of a ‘big 4,’ but the influences of the four companies are quite different.
SM, YG, and JYP have deep roots and power within Korea. Their artists are significantly more privileged domestically than Hybe’s artists from a media and music perspective.
Hybe has more money of course and has been more successful at breaking into the global market, so their artists typically are better paid and do have perks still.
But it’s kind of like the same between an ‘old money’ and ‘new money’ family? Old money has the connections, new money does not, they’re just rich.

You said more than once that your intention was to critique the music, not the music videos, then proceeded to get pissy about the music videos & claim that they hampered your ability to listen to the music.
So, the obvious question that any reasonable person would ask is: why did you choose to watch the MVs? There are multiple options for listening to music without watching the accompanying video, so the complaining makes you seem churlish and, frankly, either lazy or obstinate.
BTS' agency, Big Hit Entertainment, is independent and, until quite recently, they were desperately lacking in financing. Although BTS is very much a music-first group of artists that have now transcended the industry, KPOP is where they began & as a whole it's a multimedia, visuals-first commercial product. Given their options at the time, they chose to make a way within the KPOP industry and spent several years struggling to meet South Korean fans' expectations around production quality while also being almost solely responsible for their agency's solvency. Despite the lack of resources, hey were always looking for ways to infuse more meaning into what they were creating. Compare BTS MVs from debut until now to those of their peers in KPOP. For that matter, compare them to MVs by Western artists in Hip Hop or Pop from the same time period. If you still can't grasp that their music videos are both an integral part of their artistic vision and standalone works of creative expression, then I don't think you're qualified to offer a useful, informative or interesting opinion.
Lastly, the man on the left has a distinct tone & attitude of condescension that left me with the impression he wasn't approaching the music with an open mind. As others have pointed out in the comments, BTS' music - just like any other creative endeavour - should be viewed within its sociocultural context. Without demonstrating any substantive effort to know or understand that context, your commentary doesn't convey erudition or expertise, it sounds petty & high-handed.
TL;DR Arrogance & ignorance are a disastrous foundation for critique & not very entertaining to watch.

also, i know i’m spamming the comments sorry, but i totally agree with the last comment. i always have a profound respect for artists who self produce + write, which is why im a massive hip hop fan. the expectation for rappers to write their stuff is the bare minimum to me and i really hope that becomes more common in the pop industry. and i think when u explore more of bts you’d appreciate their involvement even more, because they always put in their best. their concepts are very well thought out out, they drop in easter eggs of really hidden, less known hip hop tracks, they pay homage in the best ways. that’s honestly why despite how crowded the kpop industry is, the rappers from bts are always acknowledged by their actual idols. jhope’s last song before enlistment had a feature from j.cole, his all time idol, where j.cole also alluded to his musical break. namjoon, worked with pharrel (someones he’s looked up to for decades) and suga was honoured to meet and work with famous japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto just before he passed. it’s the same with the vocalists, who’ve worked with coldplay, usher, justin timberlake etc. bts’ dreams have come to fruition after decades of authenticity and working to get to this place, it’s really satisfying. they didn’t have the media or the influence beforehand, they weren’t part of the big3, who even now, have the biggest hand in kmedia, but they actually built themselves up with their talent

BTS write their own music for the most part, so it grows up with them. This was 2013 and their comeback right after their debut. Plus they have all improved. I LOVE they make technically correct songs, and I love they aren't afraid to make a song that takes you to a good ending. Jin's solo is the bridge. Danger.
RUN, is part of the BU story. I agree with almost everything. In the beginning I feel like they were overprocessed . IMHO RUN is one of their songs that is best listened to live.
Blood Sweat and Tears tells a story. When you have a guy with a IQ of 148 you'd be stupid not to use it. This is not a banger or a pop song, so why would you judge it as such? This is the song that pushed me into BTS. But then, I was a theater kid. Also, It made it into the billboard charts. Plus the song took a book written in the 1800"s back on the best sellers list Damien, a story about growing up and picking good or evil ( nutshell). Questioning religion. They had to reprint the book in 5 different languages as it sold out.
NOT Today is a banger. written to all the haters that were trying to break them and their A>R>M>Y> You should see this in concert. You are the first reactor that doesn't get hyped. The fact that you even try to compare it to Blood Sweat and tears, is just nuts. sorry, you got this REALLY wrong musically. All opinion's are subjective. For example, Danger, BST, and Not Today, are for start concerts or present in shows as main attractive performances. On the other hand RUN and Black Swan are a little different for the main ideas they want to deliver. Also, the pauses in the MV, are occurring to do a cohesive story, although it is difficult for people who are used to MV with unrelated topics. In the case of Black Swan the autotune reverberant is doing because it is the shadows talking to the soul, so that was in purpose. Maybe, b-side songs are better for you, especially those that are less attractive to the general public.

As someone who was basically raised by MTV in the mid and late 80s when music videos became more of "a thing" - the pauses and storytelling is BEYOND the music, an extension. Back then we mainly heard the songs only on radio and when we got videos to accompany the music it brought a completely different perspective. With today's culture where we are basically force fed the music and impressions and not able (or allowed to) think deeper and for ourselves I can see why someone might not appreciate repetition, pauses and longer parts of unattentiveness... I disagree with the critique here in some parts but, hey, each to their own. ☺️

Mr. Kazinho wants music videos which tell stories to replicate album tracks. He for some reason feels being dramatic by not looking somehow enhances his criticism when it actually acts to make him feel critical without engaging. K Pop is an amalgam of the visual and the auditory. Just as one goes to concerts not to hear songs exactly as one could hear them at home, music videos in K Pop often create a presentation which is unique. Pauses are there to be part of an entirety so looking away comes off as a Chauvinistic rejection of an entirety when an active effort is made to show I am not looking. Putting breaks down after looking is fair review. Looking down is being snobbish. Guess it is because there is no attempt to interpret the lyrics in a full hour of react.

Run is part of The Bangtan Universe (B.K.A. "The BU".)
If you're not into the full story that runs through several albums' worth of videos - plus liner notes, a webtoon, a couple books, and more - of course, you're not going to understand those breaks, so I guess I can understand how they would look oddly placed, or even unnecessary, to a non-ARMY.

I've seen some other videos from this channel. They always complain about MV pauses, but never react to only audio. They try to pick apart every other thing for no good reason, yet completely blind about art. Can't even name the music genre correctly that they are trying to critic(hate)🙄 It's clear that they are just reacting to kpop for views. These "hater reacts" tagline videos have become so cringey at this point.

If you only listen to their songs you won't understand why they have a fan base of 50 millions people, because what comes in addition to their various talents is the love they are sweating, the love between themselves, the love, respect and care they show to everybody. They are a breath of fresh air on this crazy industry. I am a 72 years old French Army Opera lover and I adore them. Your comments are intelligent, keep in mind some of these MV were filmed when Bangtan was broke. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉

Hey there. I enjoy honest reactions like yours & that you take the time to listen to BTS' songs, so thanx for that.
I just wanna add that - blood sweat & tears is indeed deep & artistic, just like the mv. I get it if on the surface it doesn't appear so to you guys. While if musically the pauses may be pointless to you - they really are not. BTS (+their company) put SO much meaning & effort into a) the music they make, both lyrically & melodically and b) into the whole concept of most their mv's & albums. So if they add a pause to fit into the mv, it's there for a reason. They have a storyline that leads through the majority of their music. There are a lot of connections, Easter eggs etc. There even are some explanation videos out there to help ppl understand what their lyrics or mv's are about. We'd appreciate it if you solely acknowledge that fact, that's all.
PS: There are also lyric videos out there, which exclude the mv's & with focus on the music only. Maybe you guys would prefer those?
Apart from that: keep doin' your thing 😊💜

BTS videos has a hidden message to discover and BS&T is one of the most intrinsic in itself cause you have to look for the clues.
So, if you are not enjoying your craft let them others do it. Thanks

Adios y buena suerte.

I agree about the pauses in MVs unless it makes absolute sense to their concept tbh. I see why danger wasn’t needed but for blood sweat and tears I liked it. I miss bts’s older songs. I don’t find their recent songs as good. Imo

Their recent songs were all more “off the cuff” - as in not planned. The pandemic wrecked all their plans, so everything done after MOTS: 7 was them flying by the seat of their pants, basically…filling time as they tried to wait out the pandemic, and then ran out of time (because Jin did). The songs are all still great, but the depth of their usual music takes a lot of planning, which takes a lot of time. I always hate it when people complain or say they miss their old music without providing (potentially even considering) an iota of context.

@OT7_DopeOldARMY Yeah I mean when I see people saying they miss the old bts or that they music has became westernized. I'm sorry but what? Like they released only three songs in English and the fact that in the same year Life goes on and ON were realeased too and they think they making sense? No way even their last music is take two so how would take them seriously

I think Not Today is the best of this first group of songs. I used to agree with you that the extended pauses contribute very little to the other songs, but then I came to understand the bigger story. These were early in BTS history, so I guess everything was a learning experience for them, doing the best they could with the limited funds and equipment they had. I have heard discussions were Suga said he didn't ever want to reissue improved versions of older tracks. They are what they are.
Then Black swan is also one of my favourites, not just for the music and singing but for the wonderful dancing too. BTS in Kpop is not just about the music it is a feast for the eyes too which is something you have not acknowledfed or perhaps understood.

Well maybe this wasn’t videos for you… these videos have a whole story line… these are part of the BTS World… this world contains MV, books, even a video game that gave us a big story that we love… even now we have a kdrama of that story… that’s why the videos and the pauses… maybe you need to listen only the music and not watch the MV.
