If it wouldn’t be for the fact that I can still get a small square baler for 10% the cost of this round baler, I’d probably go for something like that. Looks like you’re getting great compaction. Plus to know I can run it with my compacts without additional hydraulic functions definitely makes this something to consider.
Hi @tallfarmboy1975. I’m curious to know if you can share the model of a mini square baler. I have a subcompact Kubota BX2200, and the only mini square baler I could find was by an Italian company for over $20,000. I would prefer to get square bales, but assumed I would need a round baler because of cost.
I think it's pretty cool to play around with sqarebalers sometimes have problems with so many small parts that could break. But I agree sqarebalers half the price
Square bales stack easier. Round bales (the big ones) are slowly becoming obsolete. Big squares are easier to stack ship and handle. If it weren't for the cost difference of the machines, big squares would already have gone the way of the small square.
Brad and Deb, I enjoyed watching you both on using that new baler. A Very Good learning experience and now know what changes you need to make on future wind rows. Great work to both of you. GOD Bless You Both
Nice work on the review! Really like that little baler for what its costs! Not sure why everyone keeps saying "for the cost of that thing i would just buy a used square baler" On the website linked it clearly only costs 8k US NEW and even less if you buy more implements together. Ive not seen any new square baler near that price and ESPECIALLY that can be run by a subcompact.
We have the same baler. The drawbar is a great addition, without it the baler is very close to the tractor, and you must lift the baler at the end of every windrow. We have well over 800 bales and no problems.
@$7.50 each that's $6k Fun toy though You haven't even broke even on the cost yet. Even if you said $15/bale you can't break even when you figure fuel, twine and your time.
@jpoppinga8417 there are aspects of doing your own hay that are not accounted for in price per bale. At 10k bale life expectations, I think we will be satisfied with our purchase.

@@bettycollins3914 Your comment is hateful and misinformed. You can certainly feed cows and horses this size bale. It's basically the same as a square bale....and millions of square bales are produced each year.
Hey Bud, why not just crank the 3pt all the way up, and then crank the dial that's between your calves when you're in the operator's station tight? That will keep the 3pt up no matter what you do, and prevent you from inadvertently lowering it onto the PTO shaft? I'd be willing to bet that Summit tractors (like all other brand tractors) has that knob. It's meant to adjust or stop the hydraulic flow to your 3pt. so that you can adjust the drop-speed when you have heavy implements on the rear, so they don't hit the ground too hard.
