Not related to spinnerbaits but I did catch a new PB yesterday and had to let the tactical family know! 5.12 on BFS setup with the Karashi. Thanks for the info as always. You guys are the best
I have a wooden willow blade spinnerbait I brought in a Sante Cooper bait shop in South Carolina. It had Jimmy Houston on the package and it's over 35yrs old
Reinforce the R-bend with braid or a plastic zip tie, and also replace the split ring on the back BB swivel with an appropriate sized snap (allows for quick back blade changes). Go single bigger willow for slow rolling deeper but still maintaining faster cranking speed, smaller blades to run deeper, add soldering wire to the hook shank for more weight to run deeper... Tons of old school tricks long forgotten.
Something about getting some new Heddon Torpedo’s, Spooks and Jitter Bugs to fish at the farm pond as a kid made such an impact on me that it’s one of those core memories that I hope I’ll never lose. Boy what a lifetime rabbit hole that sent me down hahaha
Thanks for the great info. My son has a high school tournament on lake Eufaula next Saturday. Our home lake is Guntersville. As his boat captain I really want to pass good tips on to him. Tight Lines and wish us luck!
Fishing the California Delta with Spinnerbaits is great. Blue Fox use to sell the Best Spinnerbaits that came with a Trailer Hook. Can't find them anymore. Chartus was the color of choice at the time I used a 1/2 or 5/8 oz to give me a slow sinking retrieve just enough to get the Blades turning and Bang, got him. I still use Spinnerbaits and can cover a lot of Water. It is definitely a go to Bait. It is all about reading the Water, placement, and presentation. Go out there and get-em guys.
For colder water, darker skies/lower light, windy conditions, discolored water, and/or when you need a more compact silhouette, run a Double and single Colorado, remove the skirt, run a Yamamoto Spider Grub or something of that nature...no need for a trailer hook. FWIW, all these techs were long lost in the 1990s...and especially running swimbait bodies on spinnerbaits since the early 1990s, back then it was usually just a chunk of Slugo lol. Good to see the classic and timeless lure get some respect.
I literally grew up on old school H&H single blade colorado and willows fishing ponds. Those and Texas rigs did more for me than anything from the bank. Still love the H&H to this day, 30 years later.
Great video man, I love the information about water clarity and cloud conditions for spinner bait fishing! Every time I doubt the spinner it shows me what’s up🎣
@tacticalbassin Tim I gotta tell ya.. I want to thank you and Matt for continuing to bring content and keeping me pumped about bass fishing. I work labor job so it's hard to find the energy sometimes but when I'm getting ready for work in the morning I'm watching your show I'm pumped I'm putting poles in the car I'm going at lunch or I'm going after work. I don't think I would have had the night I had tonight without learning a lot of stuff that I learned from watching you guys and even though I'm older I'm bass fishing since I was old enough to talk. You can always learn and you guys are great teachers. Tonight on the rip rap about 2 hours after the sun went down. I caught a three and a half, two knucklehead catfish that are over 10 lb each, after that a drum in the 5 lb range and a monster 9.7 oz bass. personal record by about a pound. On a weightless soft plastic stick bait I don't want to say which kind. I've been killing it with this soft plastic that I found watching you guys show. Anyways I just wanted to say thanks.
Enjoyed all of this! 🤙Got a bass by dead sticking a spinnerbait in 42 degree water last weekend in ME, and got one to chase it too. Insane how much they love a spinner.
It's been a long time since those K mart days as a kid. Braid was just spider wire and there was mostly just stren on the selves. There's this smell certain baits had ( I can't remember what they where) and every now and then I use a new bait that has it.
My first fish on an artificial lure technically came on a Texas rigged worm BUT my first fish on a hard, moving bait was on a spinnerbait and it was epic. I fished a small, shallow, grass field reservoir for the first few months and the spinnerbait was about the only lure that I threw and the first day, I walked up to the pipe at the dam and saw a 4 and 5 pounder cruising and I went on that day to catch a 6,5,4,3 and a 2.5lber all on the spinnerbait and I was HOOKED!!! I've been a fishing freak ever since that fateful day. 😎🇺🇸🤙
I love spinnerbaits because a bass will hit those damn things like none other, every single time, they hit it like a freight train. I have damn near lost grip of rods before.
I’ve absolutely smashed on a spinnerbait since early February. 😁🤙🏽 So much so that I decided to start making my own lol got sick of buying em and not having all the features I like so… now I’m just making them dialed. Such a fun bite man. 😎🤙🏽
I've found painting 1 side if the blade black when they are hitting the blades, I've seen that it will cause them to go after the hook at the last moment
I know it's spring when I start getting TacticalBassin videos recommended to me. Gotta wait for the ice to melt before I can actually get out fishing, though.
Something I've never seen. Clear blades on a spinner bait. could be super effective on really clear lakes. Or maybe clear blades with stripes painted on them
I NEED HELP! It's been HOT, sunny (NOT A CLOUD), and slick calm. I fish from shore, so where I fish only gets to about 7 to 8 feet deep max. My water is still in the Prespawn range, upper 50's, maybe still under 60°F. I'm getting skunked other than a few small buck bass on wacky rigged stickbaits. Weeds are barely starting, there is some shallow slimey green algae. What would you throw???
Been throwing spinners, lipless cranks and jerkbaits with a lot of success given the dirty water and rising temps. The air temps have been high, boosting the water temps over 50 now, but that cold front next week will have them pushing that spawn back a bit.
@WadeLife Thank you both for replying. Where I fish, I believe the bass bury into cover when the sun is blazing and there's literally no clouds. It's been hard to get big bass to chase anything. I do appreciate the water warming up, though. Thanks for the advice!🎣
I got an old spinner bait box with six or seven terminator T1 spinnerbaits 3/8- 1/2 oz my problem is the skirts are falling off. I have another ten or so unopened. The skirts look ok but I don't know for shure. what brand replacement skirts would you suggest? should I open the new ones and check the skirts to? I got them at walmart around 1997/ 2005 time frame.
A spinner bait stays on one of my rods so often because you can throw it anywhere without worrying if it will get hung up. Fish it fast, slow, through trees, grass, open water. It just gets through everything. Also i know Tim is an expert, but for the newcomers to fishing, dont think you can't catch a boatload of bass on a $1 walmart spinnerbait.
This may sound silly, but I just cannot agree to the using of an A rig. Throwing out an A rig is like throwing a rake into the water and see what you can snag.
In the beginning with giant rigs on huge line and heavy rods, I can see that. But today's rigs (our tactical mini flex. For example) is hardly bigger than a full frame spinnerbait, weighs about the same, and requires no special gear.
All the spinnerbaits I have that have long skirts, always get tangled up in the blades. Isn’t it better to run a trailer so there’s more for them to suck up?
K-Mart was a youngster store. Gibsons is old. Gibsons had the best tackle selection of anyone when I was a kid and cheap. We’d buy cards of H&H spinnerbaits for 19 cents each.
What part of Texas? We're well aware that South Texas and Florida are too far ahead of the rest of the country to be accommodated on schedule. It just leaves the Northern guys too far behind. Our timing is intentional for the core of the country and just a little early for our Northern friends.
@tacticalbassin would love to see you guys come fish in South Dakota. Whole different animal up here, but I take what you guys are using and modify it for the time of year and water quality.
@tacticalbassin I didn't know you wrecked, glad you are doing well now! If you make it out this way again check out some of the west river lakes. Pactola is beautiful in the mountains and you will have a blast trying to get past all the northern pike to find the bass. Water is pretty clear and would make for some cool underwater footage as well.
I used to always fish spinners, but as the man said the minute I bought a " jackhammer" it's literally never came off. Has it's own pole!!! Lol . But every once in awhile I'll toss a spinner into the wind and come out with a fatty!!!
Not related to spinnerbaits but I did catch a new PB yesterday and had to let the tactical family know!
5.12 on BFS setup with the Karashi.
Thanks for the info as always. You guys are the best
Yes!!!! Thats so awesome!!
Congrats Bud! Thats awesome!
Hell yeah bro @Alex Williams , congrats brotha!
How was the eat with that Karashi? Big blow up?
Sheesh 5.2. Nice catch
Spinners in the colder muddy water has been PERFECT up here in MI. Those largemouth have been hunting them down!👍
Spinners are slaying down here in TN been reping War Eagle spinnerbaits dressed with a Missle Bait swimbait..👍🏻🎣
What colors are you throwing in MI? Water is just thawing up here in SD and is pretty muddy this time of year.
Jackhammer has been doing well for me, past 2 days I've gotten 9 in a couple hours
They have wanted a spinnerbait up in Maine a little after ice off too. Insane!
Which colors bro?
My Tactical Bassin senses were tingling! Just what I needed

Spinnerbaits are a favorite of mine!
I'm a fanatic on spinnerbait fishing, I've used them all and the best for me are the War Eagle, Megabass, and the Nichols.
Same. Love spinners

Thanks for the tips. Not had any luck this spring on a spinner bait. Caught 15 yesterday on a money badger 🎣
Hooking the boat up & heading out .

same here spinnerbaits are what started me, i feel the same way how they are ignored in a way. Love the videos keep it up
Use the spinnerbait catch the fish everyone is passing up

Caught my new pb a couple weeks ago on a 6th sense spinner bait with a trailer I made myself. A 3.75" hammer by angling ai. A 5lb 5oz large mouth.
I love Angling AI molds, super high quality.
1️⃣🥇🏆Good morning TB family!🌅🎣
Morning from Minnesota!
Great work guys!
Love the classic Tactical Bassin hat !!!!!!
I grabbed a couple of those mega bass magdrafts today, looking forward to trying those. Thanks man

Pink mister twister trailer on there 🐟🍻
I love spinnerbaits because a bass will hit those damn things like none other, every single time, they hit it like a freight train. I have damn near lost grip of rods before.
Love all the info in your videos! Thank you so much. I'm new to fishing so if you could help with cadence it would be very helpful!
Like always the best videos TB the best u can wach if u are a true fisherman I learned alot thank u guys
Definitely needed this😂 as you can see from the title of my last video, I’m not having any luck. Just the info I needed!
I’ve absolutely smashed on a spinnerbait since early February. 😁🤙🏽 So much so that I decided to start making my own lol got sick of buying em and not having all the features I like so… now I’m just making them dialed. Such a fun bite man. 😎🤙🏽
Great video thanks for sharing
Throwin glides, spinnerbaits and senkos at Clearlake tomorrow bud!
Could y’all possibly do a video on your top search baits and when and how you go about choosing which one to use?
KMart, now thats a good childhood memory. Didn’t know they sold fishing tackle.
I've found painting 1 side if the blade black when they are hitting the blades, I've seen that it will cause them to go after the hook at the last moment
I know it's spring when I start getting TacticalBassin videos recommended to me. Gotta wait for the ice to melt before I can actually get out fishing, though.
Spinnerbaits catch giants! No trailer no nothing. I like to slow roll it or “Twilight” it right under the surface of the water and they come get it!
I been throwing a blade for 25 years and have never laid it down. From slow rolling to burning, 1/4oz to 1oz they all get bites. Aint nothing like it.
“Don’t be fancy, catch a bass on a spinner bait” -B Lat
Thanks!
I love fishing spinnerbaits with a 5 ft 6
Something I've never seen. Clear blades on a spinner bait. could be super effective on really clear lakes. Or maybe clear blades with stripes painted on them
My first bass ever caught was on a similar spinnerbait watching KVD win tournaments always throwing a spinnerbait
Supposed you didn’t have the Swagy strong from Shimano in the line up. It has been my new favorite spinner bait!
My first 5lb'er came on a K-mart spinnerbait.
I always thought of spinnerbaits as being a "chunk and wind"😊 bait until I saw Clunn catch a monster on the St. John's.
I NEED HELP! It's been HOT, sunny (NOT A CLOUD), and slick calm. I fish from shore, so where I fish only gets to about 7 to 8 feet deep max. I would have to agree with Live 2 Fish been throwing pretty much the same things...
@WadeLife Thank you both for replying. Where I fish, I believe the bass bury into cover when the sun is blazing and there's literally no clouds. It's been hard to get big bass to chase anything. I do appreciate the water warming up, though. Thanks for the advice!🎣
Don’t forget drop shot. You can fish super calm conditions with slimy bottom and present lure inches from bottom
Might try a Carolina rig fluke or 1/2 spinnerbait that matches the forage
Yeahhh... and I miss Kmart we no longer have one 😂
@1:42 KMart 😳 That took me wayyy back lol
I thought Matt preferred the Metanium DC for fighting the wind with the spinner’s
I got an old spinner bait box with six or seven terminator T1 spinnerbaits 3/8- 1/2 oz my problem is the skirts are falling off. I have another ten or so unopened. Tim, when using a trailer hook do you attach it to the trailer?
First bass of 2023 up here in Wisconsin was on nothing other than a chartreuse/white spinner.
0:22 Back in the day when I was hoping he was going to whip out a doob to seal the deal.
A spinner bait stays on one of my rods so often because you can throw it anywhere without worrying if it will get hung up. Fish it fast, slow, through trees, grass, open water. What knot do you use for braid to fluoro?
Muddy water trailer: methiolate trick worm 😉🤫
All the spinnerbaits I have that have long skirts, always get tangled up in the blades. Isn’t it better to run a trailer so there’s more for them to suck up?
Sounds like you're using spinnerbaits that aren't running flat, that's how the blade is getting close enough to the skirt to draw it in.
Did you say 'K-Mart'? 😂
Yup, your old! 😂😂
K-Mart was a youngster store. Gibsons is old. Gibsons had the best tackle selection of anyone when I was a kid and cheap. We’d buy cards of H&H spinnerbaits for 19 cents each.
Being from Texas all the Spring videos are a month behind 😂

@tacticalbassin would love to see you guys come fish in South Dakota. Whole different animal up here, but I take what you guys are using and modify it for the time of year and water quality.
We've done an Oahe video 👍🏼 We were actually headed to some of your smaller lakes a few years ago when I was in my head on collision.
@tacticalbassin I didn't know you wrecked, glad you are doing well now! If you make it out this way again check out some of the west river lakes. Pactola is beautiful in the mountains and you will have a blast trying to get past all the northern pike to find the bass. I used to always fish spinners, but as the man said the minute I bought a " jackhammer" it's literally never came off. Has it's own pole!!! Lol . But every once in awhile I'll toss a spinner into the wind and come out with a fatty!!!
My spinner baits tend to lean left to right when being reeled in. I tie the line directly to the bait. What am I doing wrong?
I never use a trailer on spinnerbaits & RARELY miss a fish...same with buzzbaits....🤷♂️
Lol I caught my first catfish as a kid with a spinner bait
Do you guys ever fish a spinnerbait with a trailer and no skirt?
Caught my bp on a spinner went from 5 to 8 he ate it on the fall soon as it hit the water😂
Matt said u were doing a bed fishing video...
Soon 👍🏼
Все в Астрахань за воблой
I don't think I ever say either one of you throw a spinner bait😂I guess it is spring so let's talk spinner baits🙄
I've caught more bass on a spinnerbait than anything else.
