What a lovely place. Cities or towns near the sea have their unique, special charm. I have a beloved Portuguese friend whom I had met in the US and through her, I was able to explore Lisbon and Porto (where her father hails from) in the mainland. Later on, on my own through the course of overseas work, I was able to travel to Spain's Canary Islands and to the nearby Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. Those were amazing times. If only I can experience them again. Anyhow, thank you for showing us Jardim do Mar.

Beautiful video... Did you get a chance to swim? The water is great. Also Joe's bar is a great place to eat and have a few drinks. Mind you the time to get your food might be a little long because they make their food from scratch but it is worth the wait, delicious.

You were at surfers' paradise, until they killed it.

Why/how they killed it. I'm interested, tell me more.

@@MarkkuAlamaunu It's in the video. That retaining wall with the promenade were built after the wave was 'discovered' in the early 90s and basically made it unsurfable on smaller swells and at higher tides. In fact the wave in this video is barely breaking, back in the day, before that wall, it would have been breaking on that same swell. If you are interested in the whole story, you should read "Barbarian Days" by William Finnegan. He was a regular at Jardim Do Mar in the 90s and gives a great description of what happened there when they built the seawall. It was a scam to get EU money basically. That wave is a shadow of what it used to be.

It's a ghost town. Nobody around; not even kids. I wouldn't go there if they paid me. Why? To look at other tourists? The same desolation is in Spain; all poverty stricken and abandoned, even before the virus blight. You can keep it.

But Jardim do mar is beautiful. No cars, lots of flowers, clean, no debris, beautiful sea, etc.

I think we all know who clicked that dislike button Mario. So what if there is nobody around. I think it's relaxing to clear the mind, and romantic with no ruckus going on. Not everywhere has to be like St.tropez, or amalfi.
