I appreciate the insight you gave. Really enjoyed how you broke it down and gave a good sense of what was goiong on, how you set yourself up and how you anticipated their momvement to a T. I'm a new hunter in Florida and i was searching youtube for some Florida hunts to help me get started. Ive watched alot of yals videos and its awesome seeing how you guys make it happen here. Keep it up guys, youre fueling the fire for new Florida hunters. I'm hitting the woods this weekend for my first hunt. Do you have any tips for a newbie? open to all the info i can get. im concerned about my meat spoiling in this heat especially . Thanks for the vids boys, have a good one.
Thank you for the feedback. As for the meat spoiling part I'm assuming you mean getting to the deer quick after the shot and getting it cleaned. We just try to take really ethical shots and if it's a long ways from the road we will pack it out in backpacks. If it's gonna be awhile before we can get it out we will field dress it and submerge it in a flowing creek until we can get it out. Florida is tough for alot of reasons but it's a fun state to hunt and has alot of diversity.
@@FloridaCountryOutdoors yessir that was my drift. That’s a pretty clever idea to help give you some time, I’ll keep that one under my hat. Thanks for reaching out and giving me a few pointers. I’ll be watching boys , keep it up.
This one was 6 1/2. A buck that size is rare there. In other places farther south a buck would be that size at 3 1/2. At 5 1/2 this buck had the same frame but was only a 7 point. The average buck here weighs about 125lbs. This one was 170lbs.
I've been hunting since 18.... I'm 41 nobody really taught me i just learned what i could and applied what i thought worked.... i haven't seen many bucks of day under 10....i hunt public and private land... how do i start to focus on buck's...i always find rubs n scape.... just trying to learn what i can from successful hunters
@Superjacksonjames I'd recommend Dan Infault videos, his Channel is The Hunting Beast, you'll have to look through and find what applies to where you hunt, but you could probably learn more that way than me trying to explain it through text. We have the same hunting style so we agree on most things. If you have specific questions you can reach out and I'll try to help.
What do you look for to find beds in the swamp? I've been watching this big 8 point for almost two months and only have 5 daylight pictures but literally daily night time pictures and good bit of them will be 10-30 minutes after dark. I have him bedded down in front of my camera many of nights but by 6:00 am he's up and gone. The terrain is swamp, palmotts and thick thick galberries and where I get him on camera is on a dry stretch of ground where he feeds on acorns. Last year was the the same but mid November he's gone and might get a picture here and there but night time. Just wondering how you go about locating a buck that does this.
What time were the daylight pictures? If you weren't getting pictures 30 minutes before dark the end of September and the first week of October then I'd say he's a good ways away. I'd wanna know if there were more acorns dropping within 300 yards or so of your camera at the time you were getting the pictures right after dark and if so it's likely he's laying close to more secluded acorns while they are dropping and will move somewhere else any day when the acorns run out so you won't get any more pictures of him. I'd wanna try to guess his age cause a lot of times a old buck has a favorite bed and won't roam much early season but 3 1/2 year olds and under may move to another bed over a mile away this week and you'll only get night time traveling pictures. A buck going to bed will walk around 4mph sometimes so a picture at 6am may just mean you're within a mile. Hope that helps. You're welcome to message me and I could look over your area maps and probably narrow it down to a couple of spots. There will be at least one unique feature where he is laying but that could be anything from a down tree to a wind bowl but it will have food within a few yards most of the time.
Man that's a nice joker how much did he weigh I figured 155 to 170lbs seen this video about 4 or 5 months ago just subscribed a few days ago may not be answering on this post anymore
I live in central Florida but have a place in Apalachicola where we grew up hunting. We run dogs in the forest too. There are some video's on the channel of running dogs in the forest.
I live in north Florida also Crawfordville. Where the best place to go appalacacola National forest. My first year hunting down here. I'm use to North ga woods
Son! Congrats. That ain't easy, especially in the dog woods.
Awesome
Wow! What a great Fla. buck!! Great strategy brother. That area looks real hard to nail down where they’re at. 👏👏👏
Nice deer. The way he ran off, tail up, is usually indicative of a miss not a kill shot. Grats
I agree, however with the heavy arrow setup and really sharp fixed blades I've seen this a few times now with the perfect shots that don't hit bone.
Thats a great buck! Congratulations on him and all the hard work and planning you do to make it successful! I could hear the mosquitoes on camera lol
Awesome buck!! Congrats!
Great Work Brother! Awesome video!
Awesome. Congrats man. Your hard work paid off.
Good judgement brother. Hell yea. Got you one🤙🏻
Nice swamp buck
Nice one!
Very nice!!!
Good job! Great hunt and buck.
That’s a stud congratulations
How much do you think he weighed after field dressing him?
Congrats!!
170

Hats off to you man.
Awesome buck! What's your best guess for how old a buck that size would be in your area?

Thanks, my best guess was 165 to 170 but I didn't have scales to put him on.
I live in north FL. The Apalachicola Forst is my play ground to hunt. Just asking about your area you hunt. Nice deer you killed .
