The guitarist should not have been switching pickups if we wanted to hear an accurate comparison. At minute 3:15 ... the guitarist is using the bridge pickup on his Stratocaster as the narrator is saying that a microphone in the center position will give you a brighter sound. (Well of course it’s gonna sound brighter, he’s using the bridge pickup) Then when he moves the mic to the right side of speaker, the guitarist switches to the neck pick up which sounds a lot “warmer” or “smoother”. The narrator in this instance says “now the guitar will sound smoother” (well of course it is, the guitarist switched to the neck pickup) I would have rather had the guitarist stay on the same pickup to better compare the difference in microphone position. I am not throwing any hate, whatsoever. I’m a proud Neumann microphone owner. The TLM102 and KM184 are amazing!
Hi Jorge, thanks for your feedback. In principle you are absolutely right. However, the video is not set up as a comparison here, but rather as a sound example: Which microphone position is better for which style and for which sound. Greetings!
I noticed that as well. That is NOT an honest way to state a point even if it's true. I am now curious what's the actual difference in microphone position.
Love the video. The hosts voice tone sounded way to sharp in these 2 videos. Need the vocal chain from the mics video. Just my opinion. Great videos though I would love to see tons more of these recording techniques tips and trics type videos. Thanks guys
What I do to help find a good mike position if I'm recording alone is use a looper pedal. I just play a part of the song and loop it, and then use the headphones to find a mic position that sounds good. Then I do a test recording to see if that mic position is gelling with the other instruments.
Thanks for your great suggestion, but I prefer so much the binaural sound provided by KU 100 'dummy head', infact I use it since 2001 for almost all my recordings, not only for testing..!! ;) [several examples on my humble channel] So, thanks forever to Neumann and to his astounding KU 100, for having done me a very very happy man!!! :)))
C'mon guys, you talk about bright sound based on mic position and then you change pick up selector during the recording. Bridge position is always brighter than neck!
Hi Jeremy, the volume on your amp will actually only control your perceived output volume, which does play a factor when miking up the amp. However, try adjusting the gain to add more background noise. Hope this helps!
I have a TLM 103 and I use it to record amplifiers, but sometimes I'm afraid of high gain levels that it receives from the amplifiers, can it spoil? Is there any parameter I should follow, any tips?!! Excellent video, great

@@GeorgNeumannGmbH Entschuldigung Neumann, aber das ist doch dann gar kein Klangbeispiel, wenn es nicht so klingt, wie es klingen würde oder könnte.

The technique to compare noise is incredible. I've been studying recording for years and this is the first I heard of that. Thank you, I subscribed!
Thanks for this well made presentation
The best channel for understanding the recording stuffs. and what a presenter he is!
Thank you for this series of videos about how to record a guitar sound
Excellent video & Advices : Thanks a lot to Neumann, Sound engineer & guitarist ;)
Thanks!
swear to god I thought he was gonna play slow dancing in a burning room
you dont need the amp noise
play in to a looper and let the looper work so its play something through the amp and now play with the mic position
That's what I was thinking from the start 🤔
And there I was, thinking, I've seen it all. Great Vid, thank you!
Thanks for this team, really well done all round! Cheers
Wow I just learned how to mic a guitar amp!!!

Very useful information and great presentation! Thanks! 😀
Amazing video !~ both of u did great job, that trick of the noise background is sounds very interesting - i'm gonna test it for sure
Great video. Easily digestible info. Thanks!
What a brilliant video!!
very visualy and interesting
Thank you!
Excellent! I've been looking forward to more of your videos.
I love these tutorials

We are very happy to read that, Franko. Thanks for the great feedback! Have a nice week!
@@GeorgNeumannGmbH You too! :)
Amazing work. Thank you!
Excellent. I learned.
3:22 shouldn't have switched his pick up to compare a mic placement
Yeah that is very true
Seriously. That was infuriating.
Great tip. Very good!
YOU ARE GREAT!!!
What a good Videos!!!
GRACIAS
Great video thanks alot!
Love the video, can you do a video on how to record bass and drums to? 😊
Hi Daniel, thank you for your feedback. We are actually working on more tutorial concepts. Stay tuned...
Great video!!!!
Awesome video! Did you pad the signal in that case? Thank you

How do you record a tube amp without picking up the natural feedback from the amp
If ur guitar is loud enough u won’t get much of the feedback. And a lil feedback is unavoidable and tbh kinda essential to the sound of a tube amp
Nice vid. Did you pad the signal when recording with the condenser mic? Thank you
What did you change on the amp to get the background noise? You just turned volume all the way up?
Hi Jeremy, the volume on your amp will actually only control your perceived output

Finally!
I thought he will play Slow dancing in a burning room by John Mayer 🤣

Nothing can happen
How would I bring up the white/ pink noise in the amp ?
Hi, you should be able to make the white noise more audible by turning up the gain. We hope this helps! 🙂
What mic are you using in this demo? Might be good to mention that somewhere since you're trying to sell them...
Tlm 102. Just watch part 1 where it was mentioned
bonito :)
I dont get close to a good Tone. Just dont work. Try to record my Distortion Guitar but it always sounds sratchy and has 0 lows.
4:59 normal mic
9:32 Binaural
estuvo mamón!

Wow that guitarist is small…. 😂
Talks about artist originality, the. Plays nothing but covers songs lol
Soul patch = only plays covers
So weird to hear the guy talk, and then a voice over of the same guy talking. Very unnerving. Good mic'ing tips though.
