Eddie Vedder was the lead singer of Pearl Jam first. Chris Cornell is the lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave. Both were members of Temple of the Dog as a super band.
In the reaction you did of Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog, Eddie Vedder (here, of Pearl Jam) sings the lower voice and Chris Cornell (of Soundgarden and Audioslave) sings the higher voice (while also playing guitar). Great reaction! Thanks! 🔥🤘😎💯💕👏
Great reaction Pearl Jam is my all time favorite band. I am a child of grunge. Eddie Vedder is the singer of Pearl Jam. Chris Cornell is the lead in a few band throughout the years. Audioslave, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog. He and Eddie were neighbors in Seattle, Eddie was in studio for the recording of Hunger Strike when Chris suggested it be a duet between them. The rest as the say is history. You should check out Pearl Jam, Evenflow, and Jeremy. Pretty much any song on the Ten album there is no bad track.
To extend further in the Grunge family rabbit hole: The bass- and rythm guitar-player of Pearl Jam where first in the band "Mother Love Bone", of which the lead singer (Andrew Wood) was the room mate of Chris Cornell. All the early grunge bands were incredibly close to each other. I can highly recommend the documentary film "PJ20" to snuggle on a couch for. Very entertaining and insightful!
i am so proud of everyones polite and respectful comments about his confusion of the singers. A lot of people get them confused when they are first jumping into the genre. everyone gets things wrong now on then lol, nobody is perfect. But the respect shown here is a beautiful thing to see!!!
No need to be an ass over a simple mistake, especially when I am just glad to see the man picking great music to explore and react to. I do agree though, I fully expected to see some pretty nasty comments about that but I’m happy not to have.
I also expected those familiar to this to be impatient in the confusión in the names. It's great to hear that people are kind when someone makes a mistake 😊💕. That smile though. It's Beautiful .
@@MayanMercernary welcome. The best thing to do when something like this bothers you is to take a sec and think back and see how many times you made a mistake lol. Deann Dragoun bennett No problem at all. I just enjoy helping people discover, learn and appreciate rock/metal music that I’ve grown up on. Music is probably my #1 passion and the reason I like watching reactions is seeing the joy and amazement on people’s faces when they first hear some of these artists that have paved a path for my life.
“I know someday you’ll have a beautiful life, I know you’ll be a star, in somebody’s else’s sky, but why, whyyy, whyyyyyy can it be, can it be miiiiiine” Those lyrics hit me in the feels every damn time.
Yep! I used to think it was: "I know some day you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star, In somebody else's life. But why? Why? WHY? How can I be mud?" ..... like he's lost all self worth. I still kinda like that lyric 😄
Grunge music saved my life too. I lost all 3 of Mt kids in 4 years. I was lost in a dark bad place. I couldn't sleep and I wanted to die for a while. I stayed up all night and watched videos of depressing music. Alice in Chains is my favorite. But Pearl Jam and Chris Cornells bands, all the darkness was what I needed.
When you start with "I felt it in my soul " before you see this performance, I think walking off without a word at the end is pretty much the only place you can end up.
Dude, I so appreciate your enthusiasm and naivety on this. It's so fresh. Pearl jam was the soundtrack of my young life and its nice to see people discover it now. Peace.
Yup....You just got to walk off after that incredible performance and sit with it for a while. Eddie GAVE IT UP on that song! Those lyrics were real for him, they come from a deep place and that's where he went on that performance. Truth!
One of the best reaction videos to this song ever, you took the song in and didn't interrupt it I mean at the end there are no words for a song that is as amazing as this. When I first heard this song years ago I thought it was amazing, then a few years ago I became the man who stars were in someone else's sky. But thankfully now I can look back and listen to this song and appreciate once again how amazing it is.
This was by far my favorite reaction of yours! You could see that you were super into it, feeling every nuance. That performance by them , Eddie in particular, was so emotionally charged....it gives you goose bumps. He is a phenomenal vocalist. Cheers!
Lol, more channels need to end videos like this, some times folks can make things worse by reaching for words before something is absorbed, but you got the best reaction here, especially how you lined up the headphone cables neatly, laid em down, walked away, lol. Well done, great channel too!
Your reaction nails how I feel every time I hear this song. Must have screamed this out loud a hundred times by now. Good for those moments when you need to connect with some angst, insight, and hope all together in the mix. Hard to shake that nostalgia in this pandemic tyranny time.
LOL!! I had the same reaction the first time I watched this video, I know exactly that feeling of being totally dumbstruck by the sheer awesomeness and depth of this song. Went outside and smoked a fatty then came back inside and watched it a least a dozen times more to let my soul marinate in the words and music. This was maybe 5 yrs ago...... BTW, this is the best reaction to any song by anyone doing reactions so far, hands down!
"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be the sun in someone else's sky, but why can't it be mine?" That lyric never fails to rip me up. Like 30 years later, I'm still floored by it.
Steven Col not only that, he puts his heart & soul into his performances. The entire band does. They’re just as entertaining & produce just as much energy in a concert where they’re all just sitting on stools playing as they do at concerts where they’re moving around. Not many musicians can do that. They feed you energy & make you feel the lyrics, yet another thing many can do
Hands down the most appropriate reaction to this performance. You just gotta bow your head and walk away. Eddie is beautiful 😍 Not even in a sexual way, everything he does is beautiful.
It's Eddie Vedder. He and Chris Cornell sang together with Temple of the Dog. Chris was also lead singer for Soundgarden, then later lead singer for Audioslave. All these guys came up together in the Seattle clubs, playing and singing together and basically created what those outside Seattle called grunge.
This song was about a relationship Eddie had and the lose of that relationship. He actually never wanted this song to be popular. He said it still brought back memories when he sang it. That is why you feel the lyrics and the song progressively gets harder and angrier as it goes in.
The best and most deserved reaction you've showed so far.👍 Just speachless at the end. But please🙏 never ever confound Eddie Vedder with Chris Cornell.😂
Eddie Vedder is the lead singer for Pearl Jam and Chris Cornell was the lead singer for Soundgarden and later fir Audioslave. Chris did a tribute to the late singer of Mother Love Bone, Andy Wood, which also had a couple of founding members of Pearl Jam, which was Temple of the Dog (taken from a lyric from a Mother Love Bone song). Eddie joined in on a song or two. I hope this helps. Pearl Jam are still around and touring- check them out if you ever get a chance.
Lol your walkoff was very appropriate. This is one of the best live performances of all time. You can see the emotion and the sorrow in his voice and his mannerisms. You can tell that Eddie is in another place when he gets groovin like that. Lots of respect for Pearl Jam.
You are so right in commending Eddie Vedder's talents on display LIVE here. There's a reaction of this particular video by a professional voice coach and she just eats this up and almost has no words.
Pearl Jam was born out of the temple of the dog project. Pearl Jam consists primarily of a previous band called Mother Love Bone, who’s vocalist Andy Wood died. he was friends and roommates with chris Cornell. Temple of the dog was a band that recorded one album primarily written by Cornell and was a tribute to Andy Wood. Eddie was brought in for one song “hunger strike” Pearl Jam thus was formed by I believe three members of mother love bone and temple of the dog, only to go on to create massive contributions of great music for generations to come.
You can really see that this song made u feel something, Van. Isn't it awesome when a sing can take u straight to a moment or feeling in time? Knocked one off my bucket list when I saw these guys live a few years ago. He sung "Black". He still sounds just like this. It was an amazing experience. I might've cried. Eddie Vedder is a whole vibe.
pearl jam nirvana and alice in chains all had a night on mtvs unplugged. . and three of the best shows they ever aired. . . nirvana if im not mistaken had the biggest viewshiip, and famously nirvana didnt play any of their major hit songs, instead choosing to a string of covers of bands they were influenced by . . it was amazing

Your true enjoyment of the song and the fact you listened to it lyric wise overpowered the mention of you thinking this might be Chris Cornell another amazing voice. Most ppl concentrated on how you were wrong it didn’t matter. This song is a masterpiece. You got that. 🤘
This is Eddie Vedder who was very close friends with Chris Cornell, they sang in Temple of the Dog together but Chris has black curly hair and a mustache and goatee😉 but yes Eddie was featured on "Hunger Strike" by Chris Cornell and Temple of the Dog....RIP Chris!!

People confuse the 2 a lot. They were both in the Seattle grunge era. They were both in Temple of the dog for Hunger Strike, which was created by Cornell. it was a one time project. It was for his friend that died from heroin. (The lead singer of Mother Love Bone) also amazing singer. You should look at more MTV unplugged artists, Alice in Chains is a good one.
That hat has its own personality. LOVE IT!!!! I pulled up this song and sang along with it for my wife. She cried, and said my voice is as incredible as his... 🤷🏻♂️
LFR FAMILY She's pushed me to get out from behind the drums, singing the occasional backing vocal, to audition as a Lead Singer. Once the Stay At Home Order is lifted, we'll see how it goes. Keep RAWKIN' man!!!
Chris and Eddie were roommates at one time, during the grunge , Chris, Eddie, and Lane of Alice and Chains, were my favorites Chris and Layne, could sing high, the higher the more they could do with it. But Eddie is so into it with a beautiful baritone voice. They sang their buts off. That’s why I went from classic rock straight to grunge.
You are a mess! 😂😂 that's Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. Low voice on Hunger Strike singing with Chris Cornell. Soundgarden/Audioslave = Chris. Pearl Jam= Eddie Vedder. They did a band mashup in Temple of the Dog so I understand your confusion.
@@LFRFAMILY 👍 I hear ya. I got a kick out of how excited you got about Chris Cornell singing in yet another band, like man, this dude is everywhere! 👀 But now that you've opened up this Pandora's box, you know you are going to have to dive down the grunge rabbit hole. Get ready for a million requests. I'll start, Pearl Jam Porch live at Pink Pop. That way you can get to know crazy Eddie a little better. 😄
After I heard you call him Chris Cornell I immediately jumped into the comment section to see if you were being skewered for it, and to my surprise you weren't. Very helpful replies.
This song was written about a woman that broke Eddie’s heart. It talks about the way it was when he was with her “then the air that he tastes and breathes is taking a turn” when they breakup. That’s the pain you hear in this performance.
EDDIE VEDDER, right there, Jack. LOL Chris Cornell and him were very close friends, so confusing him for Chris, would be ok with him. 😊 LOVE that you appreciated it so much...to me, Eddie is a DREAM with his live performances. His ability to convey emotions with his voice are unmatched and the way he connects with the music...man. SOOOO...You are confusing the two, because they were in Temple of the Dog together. Chris Cornell was the singer for Soundgarden at that time...and Eddie here has always been the singer of Pearl Jam. They had a friend, Andrew, who sang for Mother Love Bone and died tragically of overdose. So the members of Soundgarden (w/ Chris) and members of Pear Jam (w/ Eddie) came together to form the band Temple of the Dog for a ONE TIME album as a Tribute to their dear friend. In the song Hunger Strike, that I think you reacted to...Chris was the one with the massive lungs hitting those unbelievable long high notes (super long hair and mustache)...Eddie's voice is lower and thick with emotion. Shoulder length long hair, no mustache. LOL) But, as always...Love this reaction, love your channel. : )

I pulled up this song and sang along with it for my wife. She cried, and said my voice is as incredible as his... 🤷🏻♂️

She's pushed me to get out from behind the drums, singing the occasional backing vocal, to audition as a Lead Singer.
You likely recognize Eddie from the "Temple of The Dog" Hunger Strike reaction, which was him and Chris.
LOL I Live By My Messes. Kinda Make Me ME. U Know?
@@LFRFAMILY 👍 I hear ya. I got a kick out of how excited you got about Chris Cornell singing in yet another band, like man, this dude is everywhere! 👀 But now that you've opened up this Pandora's box, you know you are going to have to dive down the grunge rabbit hole. Get ready for a million requests. I'll start, Pearl Jam Porch live at Pink Pop. That way you can get to know crazy Eddie a little better. 😄
This is so funny. Just so happy that its (not) chris cornell haha. Can see how ud get confused bro
Do Soundgarden "burden in my hands" thats chris cornell
Josh Towe YES!!!!!
Right on! That's my favorite Soundgarden song.
Levi Brand Mine too
yup
A special thank you to the woman who broke his heart that caused him to write this amazing song.
That’s the pain you hear in this performance.
lol best reaction ever at the end - no words
I love this song. It brought back so many memories from my younger days.
He crossed paths with Temple of the Dog some time ago and his memory recalled both legends...
