As men, Peter really summed up what we want from out wives; Respect. If we are providing, protecting and being a good leader for the family, to hear our wives say "honey, I respect you so much. The work you do, the love you show us and how you get up EVERYDAY and do it all for us makes me love you even more". As a man, hearing this....I would walk through fire for that woman. Men need women also because we are kind of "rough diamonds". There are insensitive things we say or do. A good woman will wait until they both get a private moment and say "You know, you said something that kind of hurt me/someone and I know you didn't mean that, but please try not to do that okay?". Good men would respond "You know, sometimes I just fly something out there without thinking. I am sorry about that and will think a little more before I think/act that way again. Pray for me would you?". Talk about a good marriage!
I've studied the subject to an extent and when you go back to see what did Moses say it makes more sense than to just say someone is in an unscriptural marriage. Mose said the adultery was the act of taking (example), a virgin and marry her to sleep with her and then put her away. And a woman who was not a virgin but claimed to be and married the man she was guilty of commiting adultery. The couple had to take the sheets to the inlaws to prove she was a virgin. Moses had to do something to allow the man or woman to get out of that marriage. He did it because of the hardness of their hearts. It's an act not a life event. Just as murder, stealing etc it was not to be done in the beginning but a person can be forgiven of that act just like the act of adultery. I love listening to you guys and most of the time agree but not this time. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! 💕
If someone dies you’re automatically not married anymore so no need for divorce... but I’d also defo be interested to know the answer to the latter example, with the unbelieving spouse leaving 🤔
@@SavySavannah. 1 Corinthians 7:12-17 NLT - Now, I will speak to the rest of you, though I do not have a direct command from the Lord. If a Christian man has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to continue living with him, he must not leave her. And if a Christian woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to continue living with her, she must not leave him. For the Christian wife brings holiness to her marriage, and the Christian husband brings holiness to his marriage. Otherwise, your children would not be holy, but now they are holy. (But if the husband or wife who isn’t a believer insists on leaving, let them go. In such cases the Christian husband or wife is no longer bound to the other, for God has called you to live in peace.) Don’t you wives realize that your husbands might be saved because of you? And don’t you husbands realize that your wives might be saved because of you? Each of you should continue to live in whatever situation the Lord has placed you, and remain as you were when God first called you. This is my rule for all the churches.
Would it be safe or accurate to say when scripture says take up your cross and up your cross and it could be implying also to taking/carry your coffin or bring your coffin with you? Metaphorically speaking?
Henry VIII killed beheaded his wives because he knew the seriousness of divorce in the eyes of the church of his day.. He thought murder could be forgiven and he could move on.
Y'all don't ever worry about time! We want all of the sound content you're all willing to provide!

Question. Aren't there 3 grounds for divorce? Adultery, death, and an unbelieving spouse leaving?

God the Father gave his daughter Eve to Adam in marriage.... just like earthly dads give their daughters away to the groom.
Hey as long as you don’t teach that people have to get a divorce before baptism in order to be saved.
Does the CoC believe that their baptistry has replaced the cross?
No
No. The same way repentance didn't replace the cross
What what if your husband is mentally and physically abusing you and has tried to kill you? Do you still got to stay in that marriage!!
