Mashallah, it’s amazing there is even a Khutba at what I assume is after fajr (7 am) on a Saturday! I see imam Nadim bashir as well. May allah swt continue to bless your community in this life and the hereafter and make me among those who pray fajr and continue to learn from the uploads via this channel.
As Salam ale kum. I need your prayers...I am currently separated from my husband. The issues between us are big, but not bigger than allah swt. Please pray for me.
I’m interested in learning why different qirat is not considered different “versions” of the Quran? I say version in quotes because I believe the Quran is a unchanged book as the word of Allah swt. But, how is that reconciled if there are different qirats?
Qiraat usually translated into recitations. From what ive learned, it is just on how an ayah is recited. The differences is just on grammatical aspects; the tajweed such as imalah, tanwin, ghunnah, mad and etc. EVERY recitation have the same ayah i.e. the intended meaning of the verse, the word order, the wording itself. The differences between the qiraah is subtle and does not change the verse or wording of each ayah. Hence, it is a mistake to say qiraat equivalent to version, like the different version of the bible (some verse of the bible have different word and even different verse in some translation). The reason of this differences is because the prophet himself said in one sahih hadith that the quran have been revealed in 7 wording (the meaning is that it have different recitation, not different version). Some scholars said that is because of the different dialects of the arab tribes of that time. In order to ease the people to recite the Quran, Allah with His wisdom, revealed the quran in different 'wording'. The differences is only limited in the 10 mutawatir qiraat that have been studied and verified by the great ulama of islam. You should try listening to other qiraat. It is quite interesting and beautiful to hear a verse recited differently but with the same wording. Go to your local imam if he know somes.
Muhammad Nabeel thank you for this explanation! That was my thought too, but I wasn’t sure. I hope sheikh yq does a lecture about this, it’s fascinating. My only question is that it sounds as if the wording is different as well (even if the meaning is identical) based on This lecture
