Glad to help, i'm no expert on this thing either, but I figure if I find out something useful, someone else is going to benefit too. Oh and welcome to the world of simulation...
Absolutely brilliant 😮, makes everything look so much more realistic. Just as a foot note, you can also get other positions using RH, mouse & obviously save, as you explained, using the Num-Keypad.
Thank you so much! This really helped me out a lot, especially as I began flying with the Zibo's B738 because I always had to "move" the camera in an awkward and completely stressful way. Now my workflow is way smoother and I can get in the air as fast as possible. You definitely got a sub from me bud!
There were two things that got me away from XPlane. The horrible textures of clouds and the change of views in the cabin. At least I have one problem less. Thank you very much
I do miss slightly better clouds, but I use skymaxx pro and its not bad now. not prefect, but with Ortho4XP and the flight models i'm not leaving X-plane any time soon.
Hello, My Xpl11 has some problem in the virtual cinema, it does not disable, do you know what it can be? The camera keeps going up and down emitting G forces.... I've tried everything to disable plugins etc...
Glad to help. I keep meaning to make more of these little videos as I found there were not a huge amount of useful videos on the simple things in x-plane we all have to figure out.
Only just acquired X Plane 11. Think that is going to be a great help for checking various instruments to prevent me from crashing and burning 😂 Thanks Does XP 11 store these settings ?
REMEMBER THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "TEACHING" AND PRATICING: WHEN PRACTICING YOU CAN SPEND ANY AMOUNT OF TIME, WHEN TEACHING YOU MUST COME TO ESSENTIALS QUICKLY AND "EXPLAIN THE HANDLING WELL STRUCTURED AND AS CLEARLY AS YOU CAN". MOST PEOPLE CONFUSE TEACHING AND PRACTICING. THAT GOES FOR ALL TUTORIALS OF ANY KIND, NOT ONLY FLIGHT SIMULATORS.
Scroll wheel zooms too. Is it a different thing? (I use comma and period to exit the aircraft and move around, whereas scroll zoom seems different, but, I am new to this sim)
Hello and thank you! Q: Is there a way to do this but send each view to fourth screen leaving the main screens just showing scenery out the front (main screens)? Similar to using AirManager for a dashboard view in a Cesna...
Great video. Im pretty new to XP (not to flt simming). I learnt more in 9.33 mins on how to increase the enjoyment I get from X Plane than all other videos I have watched. I don’t suppose you know how to get the NAV button in the Toliss A321 to work 😃
Unfortunately this does not seem to work on the Apple iMac keyboard. Tried several different key combinations and still can't get it to memorize via the ctrl and num# keys. Any suggestions on getting this to work on an iMac?? V11
I think you might have to re-assign the keys for quicklook in config section. I do not have a Mac I can try this on though. but I bet you could re-assign all quicklook keys so you can assign/use the quicklook in X-plane.
I have the same issue. Here is a partial fix: osxdaily.com/2014/12/01/number-keys-not-working-mac-keyboard-fix/ However, the numerical assignments to various views is not consistent.
Liked it. I am very new to xplane as a very late transitor from fsx and am searching around for knowledge. This has been a big help. Can you say whether this will sit well or not with track ir or hat track? thanks
Great video. but I believe this does not work in VR mode. (I can't get it working!) Even tho in vr we move around easily, it'd be cool to have pre-selected views for a dozen reasons.
Ok I just had the same problem since upgrading to X-plane 11.10. The solution to me was to use the left CTRL on my keyboard, to set the view. for some reason the right CTRL is now not mapped to do that. try that and let me know.
Hi, Cool video. Thanks for creating and sharing. I have a question, I am using X Plane 11 on a MacBook Pro. Thus, I don't have the luxury of a numpad. How do I go about setting up views? I tried pressing the cut+1 (any number key), but it doesn't work... any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.
hmm, good question. Not having used a Mac in years and always one with a number pad im not sure you deal with that! Maybe in the key binding section you can alter the hot keys to your function keys possibly... like key combo. CTRL-F1 to Ctrl-F9 ?? and set them with CTRL-Shift-f1 to f9... but as I said you need to find where those keys are currently bound and change that....
not sure! im wondering if you can look in the key mappings section of x-plane and see what those keys might be mapped to? Maybe they default to something else? another option is buying a USB keypad perhaps? they ar about $10 on amazon.
If you want other views, I switch to using X-camera plugin for this. I did a video on it a while back. The developer of X-camera has a whole series of videos talking through every fine point of x-camera. It really is awesome. I jsut dont use it all the time during my flights as quickview works inside the cockpit. i go back after and use X-camera to watch other "non-standard" viewpoints. I do wing views, inside cabin etc. Go look up x-camera.
*UPDATE* ...... I just found out how to do it ! just change the line " -solid_camera " to " _no_solid_camera " in the COCKPIT.OBJ file . this way you can look TRHU the cockpit door ! For example the default 737-800 , it is in the folder : C:\Xplane 11 - Aircraft - Laminar Research - Boeing B737-800 - b738_cockpit.obj Open it with ' wordpad ' and there ( almost at the buttom ) you will find the line " ATTR_solid_camera " change that to " ATTR_no_solid_camera " and save . You can do this with any airplane with "locked" cockpit doors . Safe landings !
Its been 3 years and still works like a charm, Thank you!!!
Thank you, saved me alot of frustration I'd been experiencing
Of all the videos I have watched since getting X plane 11 this one has been the most helpful. lol Thanks!
Glad to help. I just figure whenever I figure something out, why not share it. I'm sure others want to know too.
Wonderful - things got a lot easier!! Now I can "move my head around the cockpit" as I might when actually flying.
Thank you so much. Took all of 2 mins and you were straight to the point. Subscribed!
Thank you. Straight to the point and very helpful for someone new to simulators, such as myself.
Glad to help, i'm no expert on this thing either, but I figure if I find out something useful, someone else is going to benefit too. Oh and welcome to the world of simulation...

Fantastic. So it follows then once I set a number to a view I can map that to my hotas hat switch, or any other button. Great help, thank you.
Thank you so much!

You definitely got a sub from me bud!
As a newbie, I found this hugely valuable.
same
Thanks a lot that was the BEST tutorial a about views and the only one that worked
There were two things that got me away from XPlane.
The horrible textures of clouds and the change of views in the cabin.
At least I have one problem less.
Thank you very much

Manuel Miranda if you hate the textures download custom scenery on X-Plane.org
YOU ARE THE BEST! I love how simple and exact you made the video.
Thanks! Finally I have those amazong wing views!
Yup - me too - that's exactly what I've been looking for!
Thanks bud for a great video, I'm new to all this and it really helps
Thank you, this was very helpful!
Excellent tip. Exactly what I’ve been looking for.
Wow, this has made a huge difference to my cockpit navigating!
Thanks for a great easy to follow tutorial
thank you very much. this is very useful for me!
Hello, My Xpl11 has some problem in the virtual cinema, it does not disable, do you know what it can be? The camera keeps going up and down emitting G forces.... I've tried everything to disable plugins etc...
New to flying, a god send. TNXXX
Thanks man! Clear and concise!
Brilliant, just got x 11 and was struggling with all the views
Thanks for tip, this has sorted my issues now. great.
Great video! Thanks for the tips!
You're a life saver. Thank you.
Thanks! Very helpful
What if my Mac keyboard doesn’t have numeric keypad? Is it still possible somehow?
Thank you so much, this was really helpful, but one quick question. How did you get the Jetway to your airplane?
its proably a plugin
I have a TKL keyboard and don't have a keypad, could I map the views to buttons on my joystick?
Thanks a lot mate. Helped me out big.
Thanks so HELPFULL and it works fine on my PC win 10
Glad to help. I keep meaning to make more of these little videos as I found there were not a huge amount of useful videos on the simple things in x-plane we all have to figure out.
phillip beharall I
My R and F keys do not move my view squarely like that. It moves it at an angle. Do you know why?
well done, thank you, changed my life
Thank you not many channels mention to hit the num lock
Only just acquired X Plane 11. Think that is going to be a great help for checking various instruments to prevent me from crashing and burning 😂 Thanks
Does XP 11 store these settings ?
Can you tell me how to do this on a Mac with mini keyboard????? Really struggling with this.
I want to take off using only Keyboard, I don't to use mouse. can i do this?
Great tip! Many thanks.
I would love to have an app for iPad so I could map all these keyboard commands to image buttons grouped in many pages I want.
Thank you. I am using X-Plane 12 on an iMac and don't have a numeric keypad. Any workaround for this?
Go to quick views in keyboard settings and you can change the numpad button to a key on your keyboard.
Good job , thank you
Hey how do I zoom out in the cockpit? Becuase I’m max zoomed out in my cockpit but it’s still r ally zoomed in!
Interesting from 3:35....validate assigning shortcut view : hold "ctrl button" + NUM PAD...that's all!
ik im a little too late for this, but what if I play in a Laptop and dont have a numpad?

In the 737, my default cockpit view is like zoomed in too much but i cant zoom out.. what do i do to make it look like yours?
Its probably your FOV, change it in the settings
Sippi yes i figured it out a couple of days a go.. but thanks
EXCELLENT VIDEO.

once you have the views saved can you then assign them to joystick buttons?
It works! Thanks man.
Glad to help.
Thank you
How to set the day light on keyboard??
I'm not sure I understand what you mean?
Shift K and shift L
thanks for this video also can u pls show me how to setup the view for outside views.
Cursor key? What's that?
Mine isn’t letting me save the view, i know how to get into the view i want but cant save them, any suggestions? Please really need some help!!
Ok I just had the same problem since upgrading to X-plane 11.10. The solution to me was to use the left CTRL on my keyboard, to set the view. for some reason the right CTRL is now not mapped to do that. try that and let me know.
After pressing numlock and then control+7 my views still don't get saved! What am I doing wrong?
try the other control key, I have found with my PC that only the right control seems to work.
Laminar Flow Gaming I tried both and it still didn't work :/
Do not press numlock, only press CTRL+7 or any number between 0 and 9 in the numeric keypad.
Why the hell can i not do this? I have done all of your instructions. Every single one. But it still does not work. Why? Help.
So i just got xplane 11 and my view is too zoomed in, when i start zooming out a little i go through the seat
I need tocheck my setup at home, but I think you can adjust your field of view in the graphics settings if you feel too zoomed in.
@@LaminarFlowGaming yeah i figured that out a while ago. But thanks man!
Doesn't work with mine I don't have numbers on the right hand side
Great and informative video. Maybe work on the intro
Csn you tell me how to get high framerate like you too
Can you make a Video on how to actually turn on the aircraft
If you don’t want to start it the spawn with engines running.
I tried everything I could! My Num Lock doesn’t flash too. (I have a gaming laptop)
tnx very helpfull
can you increase the look\eye size unlike in FSX?
you mean the Field of View? FOV, then yes you can in the graphics settings in X-plane.
no, if that wasnt what you mean , i meant the camera
Does this still work
Thx!!

The . key and the , key are NOT for zooming. They MOVE the view forwards and backwards.
Great Tut......
I know what i mean, and it isn't always what i say :)
This only discusses (without such notice to viewers) Windows' operations with unfortunately no mention of how to program views on a Mac.
What happens if you don't have a numric keypad/ num pad
not sure! im wondering if you can look in the key mappings section of x-plane and see what those keys might be mapped to? Maybe they default to something else? another option is buying a USB keypad perhaps? they ar about $10 on amazon.
what about external views ?
i dont have a num lock
my key board is small
thx bro
i love u
doesnt work
help
plz
?
didnt fuckin understand and i need this way too much
LEFT CTRL+NUMBER FROM NUM LOCK !
doesnt work for me
Still no wing view !

that's good to know!
I just updated my last comment , now everybody can do it :-)
no working
Thank you!!! Helped a lot!
