honestly as a welder the burns that hurt the most are the colder ones. When you get burned with glowing metal it doesn't burn as bad as a lesser burn because it burns off the pain receptors off your fingertips

My experience with burns from the soldering iron tells me that burns at high temperatures (like an empty frying pan) don't really heart when you make them and they hurt mildly after. (ofc. Depending on the severity they can hurt a lot, but most of the time you react quick enough to not get too much damage)

Somehow I was able to calmly pull my flaming, plastic fused hand out of the oven and put it out under the faucet. Weirdly, I think the plastic saved me from the worst of the burning because it coated my palm like another layer of skin. I couldnt get the melted plastic off and had to wait for my skin to naturally let it go as the top layer naturally turns to dead skin cells.
I was using a mandolin slicer a while ago, using the hand guard to slice potatoes and the hand guard kept slipping off the potato and I though to myself,”man why the fuck am I even using this dumbass hand guard?” Move it and went at it by hand, MAYBE 10 seconds later I sliced a little chunk off my middle finger. Bled like a bitch and I just yelled at myself “that’s fucking why you moron” had to go get it cauterized before it would stop bleeding. Sometimes you just gotta learn the hard way lmao, but also if you ever use a mandolin slicer, use the hand guard

My girlfriend and I changed her brakes at one point (one person per side to save time) and we didn’t do something right. So we went down the street. Not even a two minute drive, and parked the car, the brakes were smoking hot. For some odd reason (I still don’t know what possessed her to do this to this day) she touched the brake caliper. Severe second degree burning herself. She didn’t scream in pain (though she did complain about the pain for a week straight.) but the tip of her finger no longer has a finger print. So it doesn’t matter how soft or hard you scream it depends on your pain tolerance.

I mean obv. it's not that unusual, since ppl can have high tolerance....but like, I'm sometimes weirdly sensitive to pain even when it doesn't even hurt?

Idk why, I just put piping hot stuff in my mouth and I'm like "ow, did I just burn myself??" and then constantly think about the first sip/bite for like 5 mins, and then there are times where I think I burn the roof of my mouth and I keep messing w/ the falling skin....
I feel like this might be the reason why I kinda just leave things there and forget to eat until much later
...maybe I'm subconsciously trying not to burn myself???

My girlfriend and I changed her brakes at one point (one person per side to save time) and we didn’t do something right. So we went down the street. Not even a two minute drive, and parked the car, the brakes were smoking hot. For some odd reason (I still don’t know what possessed her to do this to this day) she touched the brake caliper. Severe second degree burning herself. She didn’t scream in pain (though she did complain about the pain for a week straight.) but the tip of her finger no longer has a finger print. So it doesn’t matter how soft or hard you scream it depends on your pain tolerance.
I feel like most people react that way
