I bought a 99 vstar 650 with 19k miles needing a new tire and carb rebuild for only 1,000$. Got the tire and carbs rebuilt and fluids changed for only 300$. Got it as a Father’s Day gift for my dad and myself to share.
I have a 2001 vstar and had it for 2 years and I love it... Still puts a smile on my face. Had to tune it because some idiot didn't rejet it for pipes and elevation before I bought it. But she purrs
You guys have become my "go to" guys for bike reviews. You cover everything that matters to the rider, not the tech specs that journalists are always telling me about. I don't care one bit how fast it goes, what its 0 to 60 time is, what the compression ratio is... I want to know how it handles, from a biker's perspective, and what it's good for, again from a biker's perspective. I wish you guys would do some cross country touring videos and review more than just the bike. Well done, and "thanks".
Great review. I bought v-star year ago and it has been joy to drive. So easy to do maintenance and cheap. Only difference is that, here in Finland V-star bike are named dragstar. Same bike but logo on the tank is different.
ALWAYS put the kickstand down BEFORE you get off the bike! The OEM Bridgestone tire is heavier, makes the bike feel more stable, and it lasts longer. Nice review of the bike.
I got a 2002 650 vstar custom n its a bad A machine i take it thru anything and anywhere never let me down. I took curbs that was to be taken at 25mph doing 75 easy np . had a 250 virago that would take on anything as well both bad azz bikes
I’m looking at a vstar 650 with 12,000 miles on it needs a carb rebuild but nothing to crazy but I’m worried about something more being wrong with it because it’s not running it starts but floods I can’t take it on a test ride. I could really use some advice, he is selling it for 1700 and I don’t have a lotta money so I wanna make sure I make a good purchase.
Just drove my first motorcycle ever today, my 2007 Yamaha 650 V-Star. Really awesome to ride I had fun!
@@keithquinn5624 pretty good buddy thanks for asking!
Ken is such a character. I enjoy his take on everything. So entertaining. He really gets me through these tough times.
Thanks Ron! ML&R

funny that in Finland they would have a different official name for the V-Star, but its still English words in the name....
My exact bike, same paint and all. Loving it I just need to adjust the clutch lever
My first Bike I Signed for was a Yamaha 600 sports bike, now my Daily Driver is a 2005 Yamaha V-Star 1100
I have this exact bike! I started on the V-Star 250 though, so I know they do make a 250!

I also have the 2002 Silverado, it’s my 1st bike, and from what I can tell, I made the right choice. It’s very fun to ride.
Wrong. The smallest one is the Yamaha V Star 250.

Never been into cruisers (I do love me a custom cafe racer though). But this would run circles around harleys while they leak their oil continuously.
Reading this as my 07 Sportster 1200 is in my garage....... Yup, leaking oil😢
good reliable bikes
Why is it such a small motorcycle?

3000 takes it home
