Your channel shows how the small farmer worked in days gone by. They worked with equipment they liked and repaired it the best they could Maybe not always the right way but it worked for them. I am restoring antique tractors and I don't criticize the farm repairs, I marvel at the creative ways farmers made do with what they had and could afford. Nice job.
Not that your shifting levers are rusted or anything but a little tip for viewers who need to get the chrome polished up. A tip we use on cub cadets is a brillo or sos stainless steel pad does a great job of removing rust making the chrome shine. Love this 826. You got a real good buy on one that's in very good condition.
The steering wheel looks great! I am always entertained when I watch your channel! I'm not going farming any time soon lol! Thank you for sharing my friend!
Agree, only reason I got into farming was because I grew up on a farm and I absolutely love it. I have an off the farm job that pays for my farming expenses. We always knew it would cost a boat load of money to get started but I’m willing to do the work and my wife is willing to allow it hahaha plus raising my kids in this lifestyle is important to us. The lessons of hard work, loving the land, caring for animals and the sting of loss cannot be learned from a textbook.
Hi. This has nothing to do with steering wheels, but wanted to tell you this, cause i like your videos.... Tires are made of dehydrated oil as they dehydrate more over time they crack... So once in awhile rub your yoused oil onto the tires between the lugs for many years of more use... Transmission fluid tires love the best.... Keep the videos coming thanks....
Little off topic here but just wanted to tell you that my uncle was a Super in the Ag division of a steel mill in western Pa and they supplied the disc blades for IH. Your probably plowing with some of those blades on those old discs. That tractor(diesel) sure takes a nice picture from the front. Bill
What I get a kick out of on all these farm channels and homestead channels is how quick they are to tell another they are doing it wrong. I don't think there is a such thing...I think while one method may work for one, it won't work for another. People forget there's a thing called variables. Not every method can work the same foe every farmer, rancher or homesteader. Those kind of channels need to grow up.
34 years of selling seed corn and I can tell you you are exactly right what works on one side of the road doesn't necessarily work on the other side of the road.

Also another funny part the Steering wheel in 1968 McCormick International 105C combine was bigger 1968 International 624 A Desiel motor & 1978 International 724 B loader Desiel fuel motor tractor shocking me and but never replaced them ever shock me ! But do super videos and fixed up to Geno ! Yes farming sure challenge and changes my area lots even hard raise cows and land to cash crops to get plant on ! Like cat and mouse Lol ! I glad you can still Geno :) and nice places you have !
You are totally right about people getting out of farming most of the farms are now becoming housing and the puller you used is the same as I used on my 454 and it worked great keep the good videos coming
I would use never seize on the spline and threads. Although I agree that you probably won't have to replace the steering wheel, you may have to remove it. Those orbit motors can develop leaks and repairing them requires the removal of the steering wheel, and if you use never seize, you can remove it without breaking it. A couple of years ago, I was through the same thing with our 706 loader tractor. I know from your operations that you're doing it for demonstration purposes because you use the same 10ish acres for all your videos. You certainly could farm much more ground with your equipment and as far as any of us know, you probably do. We do farm with old stuff and have equipment to farm 4 times the land we do. My farming videos are all actual operations that we are doing. As far as farming practices, go, there's lots of newer practices that I don't only disagree with, but want to see outlawed. Crop desiccation is one of those practices. I think some farmers today are too big, and they have more ground than they can cover properly. And although I have no frame of reference for $2.50/bushel corn, (we don't grow corn except for silage) experience tells me, the more acres you farm, the more low prices hurt. More acres may mean more bushels, but it also means more input costs. And the costs are not just proportionally more. Figure out the cost of equipment. We can conceivably farm 500 acres with less that $50K worth of equipment (buy old.) Those who farm thousands of acres, also have multimillions tied up in equipment. I sincerely doubt it's all paid for! Our old equipment, is worth what we paid for it, and sometimes with work we can gain value. That's never true of those who buy new. A $1M combine is worth $200K after 1000 hours. With new equipment comes more expense, not less. You generally cannot repair new equipment, and therefore it's all hired out. Our neighbour has two John Deere S-680 combines, and last year he put $50K in repairs in them. Same is true with other implements. At Olson's a few years ago when they still did live auctions, a John Deere 567 round baler sold with $13K in work orders with the electronics. I know which farmer you were referring to exactly, and know why he can't monetize. Although his political views align with mine almost perfectly, calling those on the other side F-tards and stuff like that explains a lot. Although I am looking for land elsewhere to farm, it's not quite the same thing as a newbie starting farming. I'm looking for a creative way to expand operations. This is my opinion. But I don't believe it's even possible to learn how to farm through RUclips. No 2 pieces of ground are completely alike. Climates vary, soil varies, terrain varies, weeds vary within a few miles. What works for one farmer, may not work at all for another. You almost have to grow up with farming to get it. You keep learning as you go along and sometimes with costly lessons.
