For those interested:
- The wooden slabs are used for filtering out spiders from spawning because i think they need 3x3 space.
- The trapdoors filter out the rest because creepers are a bit smaller than zombies or skellys and they need 2 complete block height to spawn.

@@LeoMuzi Bed is 9/16 of a block tall, so it must have something to do with hitbox sizes. (Maybe snowmen wouldn't be able to shoot otherwise?)

So what might be the problem then if I'm still having spiders spawn? Is it possibly a bedrock issue, or builder error?

Thanks for the amazing video! I made this is just under 3 hours last night. It was relatively painless to make compared to the old multilayered creeper farm designs. The only annoying part was the trap doors, but just throw a video on in the background and it wont be to bad.
If anyone is curious, here are my results:
I built this on a java server over a Lukewarm ocean. You can still see some islands in the far distance, but nothing to close. After being AFK for 6 hours, I generated 7488 gunpowder. Safe to say rockets are no longer an issue. :)
Thanks for this comment, it's really useful! I'm on my own server and a deep ocean was 3000 blocks away, so knowing lukewarm oceans worked almost as well was a relief. As I'm building this farm I have 2 rockets in my inventory so I hope it works as well as yours!

This is a really cool farm that works well. I had tried a different design that was similar and it was spawning spiders in it as well and working very poorly. This one only spawns creepers and works quickly. If you also want to make it into an XP farm, you can extend space between the bottom fence gates and the hoppers by 19 blocks and the creepers will be nearly dead when they fall to the bottom so you can smack them with a fortune III sword... Although I can confirm it works much better as an AFK farm where you sit above it on a platform. The creepers don't seem to spawn anywhere near as much if you're sitting at the bottom.

The 16 snow golems are notional numbers.
If you spawn too many of them, they won't let the creepers get near the killing ground.
If you put too few of them in, the creepers are less likely to aggro, and therefore less likely to die.
You ask the right questions

@FREEZarts comment might help you, good luck on it
I built this farm a few days ago, and it works amazing. But putting the trapdoors in is a massive headache, and was the most challenging part of the whole process.
If you replace the slabs or trapdoors on the ground with carpets the creepers can walk over them and improve rates
@@ItsWeldonMedia I was referring to the trapdoors that are on the ceiling- since you need to put them in before the roof slabs (otherwise the light level will get too low and creepers will start spawning).
Just put the trapdoors in before putting the floor slabs down. Then you can just walk in the space right in front of the last row of trapdoors sideways, and hold left click, pointing to the side of the last row of trapdoors. Takes about 5 minutes for the whole build.

the farm keeps exploding, not quite sure whats happening but i think that the corner that separates snow golems from the creepers is letting the creepers to come to the golems and explode
maybe forgot a trapdoor above the corner?
To every people complaining about snowmen dying :
Make the fence cross of the top 1 longer. So instead of 5 fences on snowmen's head level, you shall have 9. (explanation in seperate comment)
So basically, each snowmen stack is given a quarter of the spawning place to fire at.
Problem happens whan some snowmen attack the quarter they are not assigned to. the siagonal snowball may hit the very edge of an other group's hitbox. Doing then a bit of damage, which over the time does kill some of your snowmen.
Making the fence cross longer restrict a bit more what each snowmen view, thus they don't aim anymore at creeper which are too much out of their assigned quarter.
While doing so I didn't spot any creeper being in some kind of blind spot. But this souldn't be a problem since any movement would put them out of any tiny blind spot.
tysm

Same here just the occasional spider
if it spawn spiders, either the trapdoors
or (more likely) the slabs are wrong )because they prevent the spiders from spawning
Tip: build the farm a bit higher up so that drowns wont spawn nearby making the mob spawn slow
thank you for the tutorial! It was easy to follow despite the size of the farm. Now I have all the gunpowder I need! ^^
is it for bedrock or for java?
For java
For java
Amazing video Shulkercraft, I can't belive it was this easy all along! I have one question though: Do you happen to know if this works on bedrock? I play mainly on Java but I'm just curious to see if it works on bedrock too, every now and again I play on Bedrock. Thanks guys for the weekly uploads too!
Yes it works but rates will be less
It would work, but it wouldn’t be worth the effort or recourses it takes to build it. Creeper based gunpowder farms are very bad on bedrock. Something more worth your time would be a ghast based gunpowder farm. I know a design that is pretty good by silentwhisperer. I suggest going and checking it out.
Good question btw @SnakeyDog
@@vel_murugan roughly how much less
@@JacobHorn-wp6md 1700+ gunpowder will be 700+ gunpowder
@@JacobHorn-wp6md about 2 stacks an hour if you're lucky
This farm works like a charm! Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! Almost an hour of AFKing got me more than 15 stacks of gunpowder!!
Can someone help me out creepers aren’t spawning in mine i rewatched the video and I did everything correct if somone could give me a tip if anything to fix it?
Did you find an answer?
same
This was very easy to follow. Unfortunately it did not work for me. I play on the Xbox and test everything in creative before trying it in survival. I did everything this tutorial said and made sure I was at 189 height. I left my game on when I went to bed, the next day there was nothing in the chests.
I built it on java and it didn't work for me either. 1.19.2 server.
The creepers spawn, and I'm at the right height, however, no creepers are aggroed by the snow golems.
We are on a PS5. When mobs spawn, the golems go after them, but mobs rarely spawn. We tried hanging out at various heights, lighting up the ocean floor, and regardless of what we have done, creepers only spawn while we are close to the build, like looking in the side, and more spiders spawn than creepers. We have had maybe 40 mobs spawn in 12+ hours and only about 10 were creepers.
0:25 flying with rockets. That's exactly what I need this farm for
love how you made the video with the stacks needed and in survival! does this work in bedrock as well?
no.
does this work on bedrock, I already built the whole thing and I don't think it's working.
I did the same thing it doesn’t work 😔
I’m pretty sure bedrock just spawns way, way less mobs in than Java
Honestly, you’re probably not gonna have much luck with mobs farms on bedrock that don’t involve spawners
Are we supposed to AFK at the platform at Y189? Just wondering why that part was added
Yes.
@@MattTacc oh wow that's great to know. I played a lot before and I don't think mob spawning worked like that. If I recall it was chunk based mob spawning.
@@in_ftw if you were afk at ground level you'd have to place torches on all of the caves below, as they spawn mobs that don't end up despawning unless you get away.
@@MattTacc But imagine if i want to put more layers do i have to move the height of the afk platform ?
Farm works wonders ! Built it in a cold ocean and made exactly 64 gunpowder in the first ten minutes so that's 384 gunpowder an hour. The schematics for the farm were great :) Thanks mate !
With this creeper farm, if a couple snow golems die, and the afk platform isnt exactly 115 blocks above the farm (i built it at y=200 for better rates), will that affect it in any way?
Just a question, would you consider not using bricks in future tutorials? It makes it pretty hard to follow when you can't easily look and count how many blocks are in a certain section. Something like iron blocks works really well for that.
Yea, but they are making it in survival. They have a massive iron farm for sure but It'd be a waste considering they probably have a better creeper farm
