  • This is a tutorial on my way of making a Blackfish float.
    It normally doesn't take this long for me to make a float but I took my time for demonstration purposes. If you use the same process as I did, making more than one float at a time will be beneficial.
    I hope you find this video informative.

    I can clearly see that the skills you have developed building Model ships serves you well when making floats - they look like fantastic floats !
    That is one of the unfortunately forgotten aspects of fishing - a lot of the gear can be home made and more often than not is better than the commercial stuff .

      I do enjoy model ship building and certainly some of those skills do come in handy when it comes to making certain things for fishing

    Great floats mate.
    Would you be able to tell me what varnish or sealer u use on ur float body?

      Polyurethane Varnish for the cork or Marine Varnish would be better in my opinion

    Good vid again ed . Do you think the welding rod bottom of the float has any advantage over using wooden stick right through .

    • @letsgofishing3249
      @letsgofishing3249  2 года назад

      You would have a hard time breaking those floats. There have been times when a Luderick fishermen snapped their favorite float and went home in discuss. That would be one of these float advantages.

    Couldn't you also just use tig welding rods and save the step of removing the flux or are they to flimsy?. A how long are the stick welding electrodes?

    • @letsgofishing3249
      @letsgofishing3249  2 года назад

      The tig wire is to thin but if you can get a hold of some stainless bicycle spokes from an old bike they might work I haven't tried it yet.

      @@letsgofishing3249 you can get 2.4mm and 3.2mm tig filler rods in stainless do you think they will work as they are cheaper also then stick electrodes
