I'm using Rapid Set Cement All, which is a quick-drying cement. I also added some flow control powder to increase its flowability and workability, but it doesn't have the exact texture of clay. It sets up really fast, so I only have a few minutes to work with it before it hardens.

When you're just starting out, it's a good idea to practice making smaller cement planters first. Once you get a feel for how cement behaves, then you can try making larger ones. If the size goes over 20 centimeters, I'd suggest adding an extra layer of mesh tape to reinforce the structure. As for the issue of cement cracking that you mentioned, it might be because the ratio of cement to sand isn't quite right. I use pre-mixed cement, so I don't have that problem. But if you can't find it, you could try mixing your own cement and sand in a 1:2 ratio and see how it goes. Good luck!
