- Patsy (Community Outreach Leader) and Jane (Chief Executive Officer) at Karinya Young Women’s Service describe the realities of providing smoking cessation support to clients in an organisation funded for crisis care.
The relatively short time with clients reduces the opportunity for forming ongoing relationships and there is no long-term case management. Clients are often experiencing acute trauma and are not emotionally or physically ready to consider their smoking.
For young people, opportunities for smoke-free living start in the home, with peers, and with education through schools.
