Wow really cool. I feel like that statement about responsible harvesting should be earlier in the video. Would also love book recommendations and resources for this subject of you have any.
Point Rays has elderberry and Hackle Barry. Just understand as a disclaimer that you need to know 100 percent of what you are eating. There is a lot of plants out there that look the same but are not. The dangers of eating the wrong can affect your mental and physical state quickly. Best to eat stuff that an expert on plants is with you that know what you are eating. Best of luck hope that helps.
“Learn your plants” he said it all in a not shell! I didn’t know they had red elderberries I’ve only seen them purple so we must’ve seen the right ones ha ha elderberries really good For you I always do elderberry tincture’s when I’m starting to get sick and it keeps it from attacking my system! Great stuff! Man this guys got a Lotta knowledge!!
Hey, Julian the Elderberry you see in the video are the Blue Elderberries. These or the ones that you see in the hotter dryer parts of the bay area. The Red Elderberries are toxic and grow in the cooler areas in the fog belt of the bay. That's why it very important to know your plants before you start eating anything you see. In regards to Toyon Berry's, they can be toxic if eaten in large amounts. Indigenous peoples would cook the toyon berries for food in small amounts. Also, Toyon makes for great fall color and a wonderful replacement instead of holly during Christmas. Hopes this helps thanks for checking out the channel. Really appreciated your comment. Have a wonderful day and stay safe.
