Thanks for showing us around. I'm looking to do the same attic setup with an additional discone for vhf uhf and trunked DMR

You're welcome! That's a great touch! I had an FM broadcast dual loop antenna I was going to use up there for other frequencies but it's fixed length and I pick up FM fine so I decided against it.

I should show the balun and ground for the fence antenna. With that I got really really fantastic reception.

    Greetings from Sweden!
You, Sir, just got yourself a new subscriber and a thumps up 🎉
    I'm about to set-up this monster 😅
    I'm a total noob so i need some advice❤
    Questions.
Why did you connect it to the wip antenna outside, was that the ground? If the wip is ground, you connect both attic wires to only one connector on the 1:9.
    Im a bit confused.
Making a dipole by using both connectors.
Making a longwire using one connector and ground it.
I have looked for descriptions, but i get different answers so im about to go outside with a manometer and some wires and test the ohms.
If i not reply to your eventual answer, well, you can send me a prayer 😂

Isn’t that a balun, as in for a balanced antenna such as a dipole and not for an end fed wire? I believe there is a mod, something about cutting a trace, that converts it for end fed. Thanks.

It is a balun, but I think one end is for a grounding line.

Your attic is kinda creepy! I’m looking to build something similar soon. Pretty sure my attic is equally creepy.

The only thing missing is a flux capacitor.
