I LOVED this movie when I was younger. I had an ear infect for 3 days and had to stay home. And sometimes i'd wake up to reruns of this movie. It was kinda sad to me.. and it helped me get through those very painful days. :)
10 minutes in and Kiyomi hasnt even met with an accident . To everybody who know about the series but couldnt really get into it just read the book and then start with the first game . It all fits together . One of the most fascinating story of all times .
Hopefully it will be a Western film. My screenplay is first set in 1977 when Mariko was 30 and Maya was 12. Aya was 5 when her mother and elder sister died in a car accident on Christmas Eve. The story will then progress to 1997, where Aya is 25 and an NYPD detective...
@HarpoTheVillain thank God someone actually said that. so many people think that the game is based on the movie but in the game on day 2, the scientist basically proved that the game was a sequal because the scientist is actually one of the scientists that survived in the movie that was based on the novel
Thank you friend, was long time searching for this movie. I play these Parasite Eve playstation and knew that existed when the movie, I spent the search.
See... I like this kind of movie because they actually inject real science. Of course it's a science fiction and weird elements come in later but the fact that the base for the fiction is real science makes me very happy. Also poor snail. It never stood a chance.
I know we're all huge fans of the game, but please keep in mind it was first a book, then a movie, then Square decided to make a game. This movie doesn't "lose the story." However, remember when Maeda mentioned in the first game about a previous incident? Take the details of that and compare them to the movie. Not sure, but I thought those two references went together.
@DzonatanGavert yeah, the novel shows Mariko traumatized by the failure of first attempt of the kidney transplant, and refuse the operation, but her father pursued her. second, Parasite Eve succeeds on making Mariko give birth to Mitochondria Eve, but Mitochondria dies due to Parasite Eve's miscalculation that mitochondria only transfer their DNA from the mother, making the Mitochondria Eve imperfect. Third, the ending is quite similar, except Toshiaki dies hugging the Mitochondria Eve.
Since the game was a sequel to the novel this movie is based off of, that makes perfect sense. Although I always felt it to be more of a science fiction than a horror genre, it does sort of fall into the realm of both.
For those who don't know this is the backstory to the first game of the parasite eve series, The woman who died in the car crash, her cells became Eve. hope that clears it up
The game came after the film. But they're based off the book. The plot of the book that this film recreates was implemented as a sidenote in the 1st games plot
@Caliburnus300 In the reality of the story in total the first PS1 game is really the sequel to the movie/novel,the details Maeda refers are of the book/movie,also the little girl with the kidney transplant is actually AYA BREA's Mother,u can read the report in the first game at the clinic I think,Aya is half Japanese her mother's name is MARIKO & her married surname is BREA.Hence Aya's sister had the dormant Eve Mitochondria from her Mother, only the years are different in the movie version.
Immer wieder genial anzusehen. Erschreckend...
If you already have a PSX then you could get it on e-bay. Or you could download an emulator along with the game. As for the movie it came in 1997 and it was based on the novel that was published in 1995.
@HarpoTheVillain I can only imagine most people played the game first since it was another JRPG released by Square with Nomura as the character designer and we all know how all the otakus want to play his games (not to mention print is slowly becoming dead).
i didnt realize that there was a movie of parasite eve.... well the game really is great we can compare it to resident evil but here evil fights evil XD
Well the movie is based on the book and the game is set in a timeline after the original movie so I'm guessing thats why the game is so good...I never even knew that they made a movie but I would love to read the book.
Actually the movie came first - my impressions are that the book that they're inspired by was both somber and creepy, and the movie went with somber over creepy, while the game went with creepy over somber. True, the movie is a direct adaptation of the book supposedly, while the game is actually a sequel - so this movie could be, in a sense, thought of as what Maeda was referring to.
I wrote the screenplay for the 'unofficial sequel' to this film back in February 2007 and finished it a while ago. It is based on the 1998 video game and Hideaki Sena's novel. If anyone here want to read it, PM me...
This was allegedly the story that Maeda mentions at the End of Day 2 of the video game, but this movie is NOT 100% of that story. But some elements of this movie was carried over to the video game 1 year later.
@Caliburnus300 Actualy the movie is like a Parasite Eve Zero almost since it comes before the first game and is mentioned in the first game as you said. On a side note I plan to make movies based on the first and second Parasite Eve games.
To Ritzgo, Yes, the book came out before the movie and the game...Then the movie... But the videogame makes references about the movie. Dr. Miyeda (I think that was his name...) said to Aya Brea that "this thing happened to a woman in Japan also..." Refuring to the this movie. So the videogame was kinda like the sequel to the book/movie...And then there was the PE 2 videogame...Which was a sequal to the sequal of the book/movie. I hope that made sense... :/
From what I had been understand, Aya isn't in the movie, because this movie is based on the book, and the game is the sequel to the book. In other words, the game is the sequel to this movie.
@aARIESsSs It's not based on the game, though. In fact, this came out before the game, and it's based on the NOVEL that the game is actually a sequel for.
this is a P.E. movie. for a Physical Education class!! lololol... I could imagine watching one of these on a P.E. class! so educational with the mitochondria and all...
This movie, is the first parasite eve in chronological order, well the novel is, but the movie is based off the novel. The 2 PS games are sequels to this movie, so technically, PE on the novel or movie is PE1, PE1 is PE2, and PE2 is PE3. Then again, I'm being a nerd here.
This was novel before it was turned into a game or the film. If you must know. It was the inspiration. Haha They made the death of the snail look gruesome where in fact the bird would've just snagged it and flew away. Psycho bird lol
have just watched the movie after playing parasite eve on my psp:D...great game if you have played the game you will like the movie and also even if you havent played it, its still an interesting movie to watch. the ending is somehow sad:(
they actually provide our bodies with energy so, your ass CAN actually go ON fire, on its own rarely but possible ,called "spontaneous combustion" ...duh..As in : "dude my ass is on fire...ohh SHI-" good movie btw
I've once watched a report over parasites in snails and it was exactly like the doctor said. These parasites want to be eaten by a higher life form. Humans can be affected by those as well e.g. losing their fear of things or getting aggressive etc. Very interesting topic and very interesting movie so far.
@aARIESsSs Actually, the game was made for the movie, which was made for a book. There's not a whole lot of similarity between any of those and the games, though.
@Ameer18 I don't claim to be able to, it's mostly your use of "u" instead of "you". As for special effects, this is an older movie and American spec effects are really no better. Yes, it's VERY different form the book. So is Jurassic Park. In many aspects they are almost totally different entities and, as such, I view them differently. I didn't say that this was the best movie ever, but it certainly has aspects that I greatly enjoy. I do consider it separate from the book.
I wrote the screenplay for the 'unofficial screenplay' to this film back in February 2007. It is based on the 1998 video game and Hideaki Sena's novel. If anyone here want to read it, PM me...
@aARIESsSs Actually, They made a movie for the book "Parasite Eve" which was later made into a video game. I just finished reading the book. So much better than the movie. Go read it :D
and the parasite will do anything to keep the host alive,so it can stay alive too, if it becomes impossible, the parasite leaves and moves on......the brain worms i talked about earlier, were bacteria sized.....a big deal is.....we have these worms in us too, and some ppl with insanity were improperly treated in the past, when in fact the worms made the symptoms
@Ameer18 I'm not really sure what you're getting at... JP was a science fiction with weird elements but it also had some blatantly wrong parts to it... Still a movie I like, though. Also, it kind of takes away from your sarcastic insult of calling me "smart one" when your comment has no grammar in it what so ever. Oh, and the chat speak and lack of a capital letter.
I LOVED this movie when I was younger. I had an ear infect for 3 days and had to stay home. And sometimes i'd wake up to reruns of this movie. It was kinda sad to me.. and it helped me get through those very painful days. :)

Awesome movie. Slow at first, but the suspense just keeps on building until... FIRE POWERS!
@HarpoTheVillain thank God someone actually said that. so many people think that the game is based on the movie but in the game on day 2, the scientist basically proved that the game was a sequal because the scientist is actually one of the scientists that survived in the movie that was based on the novel

-seeing a snail geting eaten by a hawk- "You konw for kids!" -NC quote
Waaah? I didnt know there was a Parasite Eve movie, awesome I'm watching this :)
Awesome, I never knew there's a movie for this. Thank you for sharing!

A MOVIE of that game....???? Thx infinitly for uploading... I know what to do this evening...!!
@DzonatanGavert
yeah, the novel shows Mariko traumatized by the failure of first attempt of the kidney transplant, and refuse the operation, but her father pursued her.

Unless I haven't found it yet, nowhere. You have to buy it or watch it.
~MC
^ 'Tis why I'm watching this. Wanna watch the movie before I play the game.
Maeda refers to the movie/book in the first game. the movie/book is part of the story of the games!
Since the game was a sequel to the novel this movie is based off of, that makes perfect sense. Although I always felt it to be more of a science fiction than a horror genre, it does sort of fall into the realm of both.
For those who don't know this is the backstory to the first game of the parasite eve series, The woman who died in the car crash, her cells became Eve. hope that clears it up
I used to have this movie when it first came out but it got lost somewhere. I have to order it again. I miss it.........but thanks for the upload.
That is the most dramatic Zombie Snail scene I have ever seen. DAMN YOU FLUKES!!
The game came after the film. But they're based off the book.
The plot of the book that this film recreates was implemented as a sidenote in the 1st games plot
Never knew they made a movie. Sweet!

Actually, it was a novel, that was adapted into a movie and the parasite eve games my square are official sequels to the movie/novel. (Yay for info)
Immer wieder genial anzusehen.

LOL Snail LOL 'scaring story' Loving it! Never played the game but the science lesson has been fun.
They stated before that the game is a sequel to the movie/book and Maeda refers to it a lot.
For those who love the game this is a must watch!
It's a video game released on the Playstation back in 1998, I believe. Awesome game....
pantherablaze is right - this movie came out in 1997. I saw it in a Tokyo cinema that year.
If you already have a PSX then you could get it on e-bay. Or you could download an emulator along with the game. As for the movie it came in 1997 and it was based on the novel that was published in 1995.
What...? No...this is just the first time a good videogame has been made off of a movie.
@HarpoTheVillain I can only imagine most people played the game first since it was another JRPG released by Square with Nomura as the character designer and we all know how all the otakus want to play his games (not to mention print is slowly becoming dead).
i didnt realize that there was a movie of parasite eve.... well the game really is great we can compare it to resident evil but here evil fights evil XD
i never new this was a movie
So this was the incident in Japan Maeda was talking about in the video game Parasite Eve 1.
wow i just found this by chance o.o! didn't know they made movie of this awesome game ! WOOO
Well the movie is based on the book and the game is set in a timeline after the original movie so I'm guessing thats why the game is so good...I never even knew that they made a movie but I would love to read the book.

And now we have "The 3rd Birthday". A spin-off of the game, that is a "sequel" to the movie that was inspired by the novel xD
I wrote the screenplay for the 'unofficial sequel' to this film back in February 2007 and finished it a while ago. It is based on the 1998 video game and Hideaki Sena's novel. If anyone here want to read it, PM me...
The games and this movie rocks.. Dont know about the book but i guess that is terrific aswell..

well this was actually made after the book was released that the parasite eve games are based off
Holy shit theres a parasite eve movie!!
nice movie
that's what the person said. the person said this movie is based off of the book so they already said the book came first.
Well, My mom just bought me the book, I'm at the point right after Mariko gets the Transplant.
This movie, is the first parasite eve in chronological order, well the novel is, but the movie is based off the novel. The 2 PS games are sequels to this movie, so technically, PE on the novel or movie is PE1, PE1 is PE2, and PE2 is PE3.

I Really Like the story... :)
oh damn! i didnt know they made a movie of this.
I've seen the game...i should read the book :0
1995, 1997: Book of Terror
1998: PARASITE EVE PLAYSTATION
Found it! Thank you for this video. I'm finding this movie. :3
But the problem is the quality. -_-
@aARIESsSs Actually, They made a movie for the book "Parasite Eve" which was later made into a video game. I just finished reading the book. So much better than the movie. Go read it :D
lol the bird part was awsome lol
The bird and snail had me dying!
and the parasite will do anything to keep the host alive,so it can stay alive too, if it becomes impossible, the parasite leaves and moves on......the brain worms i talked about earlier, were bacteria sized.....a big deal is.....we have these worms in us too, and some ppl with insanity were improperly treated in the past, when in fact the worms made the symptoms
@Barbabapan well, the game is based off a novel, with this movie is based off of, which the game started to be a sequel to.. in a sense.
diantres esto es una verdadera chingonada esta pelicula esta con madre
Eleven people's mitochondria are going to be very pissed off at them......
That snail got FUCKED UP!
The movie is based off the book, which is a prequel to the video game series.
Any other place I can dl this besides torrents? I don't think there are many seeds for this. Shall start watching now. Thank you for sharing.
whoops, but from what I heard, Aya from the PS games is half japanese, and her mother is the "mariko" character in this movie, but I can't prove it.
"Katamari" is a clump of stuff. Like a ball of dough. "Damashii" is spirit.
the eagle part was totally creepy!
Love this movie. :) Almost as much as I love the game.
bird: FALCON EAT!!
snail: ..(left in pieces)
Oh shit!!! that snail part had me rotflmfao!!!!!
Don't worry about the mitochondrial, worry about what your fellow man seeks to acheive with virus'es --swine flu etc...and forced injections.
@exaflare
Ya, because most of are interested in games, that is why we enjoy learning from it or getting to know more about it.
Im learning more from the game and this movie then I ever did in biology XD
The VHS has English subtitles...check Amazon you should be able to get a new copy cheap.
clean
It's coming out on the PSP.
Yes, but someone later on translated it into English, so there's one in both languages. ;)
Face first to the pool that gonna hurt...
the game is a squeal to the book which this movie is based off of
wow would you mind if I read the thing you wrote? I would very much like to read it if you don't mind that is
just to let you guys know, Parasite Eve originated from a novel.
Let me remind you all as to read the book first and then play the playstation game, then its sequel then, the third and have yourself a good day SIR!
Very true
