I’m glad you enjoyed the video, yes it has many different meaning but to me it’s about the struggles of dealing with your insecurities and the voices that tell you only the negatives about your self . Instead of looking at the good . If anything we are our worst enemy. Being more judgmental on ourselves . There are interviews with her on her portals album and she explains it a whole lot better than I can . I suggest you look them up. She’s very intelligent and such a sweet person .btw I believe the last scene of the tower has a tarot card meaning 🤔
Totally agree, we are our worst enemy 👍
When she pulls the trigger and butterflies come out, she’s killing the negative thoughts in her head (turn them into beauty so to speak)
She did explain that the void is that stage where you're forced to be alone with your own thoughts which cue in depression, anxiety and all that stuff though I'm sure it's also open to many interpretations alongside of that. The best part of the MV to explain this is that scene where she's chased by replicas of herself representing her inner thoughts) and her looking at a version of herself in a sac as the lyrics 'as i judge myself' plays. A couple of times in the choreography too she showed the gesture of a knife/weapon to her stomach.
What I do think of the flowers and butterflies and all that, is almost like, you're pushed to the brink of dark thoughts and impulses but instead making it something creative no matter if that beauty is seen as dark. It reminded me too of how Harley Quinn perceived blood and gore in such a flowery colourful detail, except the difference between that and the character in this MV (for me) is that Crybaby (this character) is not actually doing harm, but instead is trying to put something out from it.
Good reaction btw. I wonder if you're going to watch her older works? Crybaby album has an MV for every song, while K-12 has a whole movie. Portals is more spiritual, more personal, but that isn't the case throughout. Even if every song has a deep lesson on its own, I guess the storytelling change cause Crybaby seemed to be more to expand on the character, while K-12 touches on a lot of social issues.
Thanks for sharing all the insights
Well said. I was trying to word it but u did perfectly.❤
It was so cool seeing how happy you got that she is being herself and abstract and artsy. Her music is generally like this and tends to have double meanings. This is the third and final album focused around a character named cry baby (which is why in the death video the mushroom tombstone said RIP CRYBABY) crybaby is Melanie when she has split hair and is human. The first album (crybaby) focused around crybaby’s upbringing and family life but is all metaphors for adult themes. The second album (K-12 meaning kindergarten through 12 grade) is about crybaby’s life throughout school and the education system but it is all metaphors for society, celebrity culture, the industry. The final album (portals) which void is the second song and single of is centered around crybaby’s experience in the afterlife. where her soul has taken on a new form (a nymph like creature). This final album deals with themes of sexualization, cancel culture, social hierarchy, toxic and pure love etc. she is a great artist and doesn’t shy away from being herself. All of her album songs have music videos and the second album has a movie that featured music videos. Portals is set to have individual music videos as well as a story focused movie that isn’t centered on musicality as much.
We share in the appreciation of artistic depth
She's now crybaby anymore. Crybaby is died. She never revealed the name of her new form or what she is. But I believe she's a fairy.
At the end of void it show mel escaping a tower which is one of the Tarot cards and at the beginning of Choreography it at the same time of death video
Ahhh noted
@stayspiritual and the heart is another reference to her account name @littlebodybigheart
the tower is another tarot card titled "THE TOWER" and yes, she used a lot of symbolism right there, when Tunnel Vision comes along which I suppose will have another reference to tarot cards, at the beginning of the letter it says "Drink from the fountain Death's Holy Water..." refers to Greek or Roman mythology, I don't remember well, that those who were not purged needed to drink from the source to forget everything and in turn enter the afterlife that would be heaven and start another life
She is trying to scape the void, the Void is the depression and anxiety!
Your not only one sharing that interpretation 👍
On her ever mv she tries to tell a story
👍
The butterfly when she pulled the trigger represent the same thing when she cut the worm thing her line in the that moment was “Alchemize the dark within me” meaning she’s turning a dark thought 💭 into something beautiful since she the void is in her mind which is why she can’t escape it
Great interpretation 👍
I really like the meaning of this VOID song. I'm afraid i won't live to see tomorrow as bloody as a corpse has come to me. The empty room kept repeating in my head, away from a dark place where you leave your own thoughts to see the inner body to find the light within yourself, I look at myself and my feelings in the dark where no one but you criticizes you, the way society pushes unrealistic standards on people that you should overcome your insecurities. Tell me is this hell. Melanie's voice is perfect in my head like a cathedral above all wonderful VOID. 😊
nice reaction!
Hey yo thx 👍👍
"I dont know whats shes escaping here" I mean listen to the lyrics. Its pretty much about anxiety, depression, her mental self, and so on
This is awesome!
Hay thx
The building at the end looks like The Tower
The butterflies and moths represent teansformation w
I really feel like a lot of the symbolism in this video has to do with reincarnation. Crybaby has died and she is who is in the heart but it’s the fairy creature (Aka the soul) who escapes the heart and the whole journey reminds me of what it would be like for a soul to escape a physical body. They’d encounter bugs that are there to help decompose the flesh of her past self and it would all be pretty gory. I could be wrong but that’s totally my take away from it, especially after watching the MV for Death where the fairy/soul/creature is tethered to its former life but is able to break free from the connection it has to Crybaby’s body. It’s all very death positive.
I’m not religious but it’s giving demons vibes - also I hear her speech impediment also wether real or edited in
I'm sure Justin will be glad not to think he was the only one hearing it. 👍
how does the story of a girl being reincarnated as a faerie give demon vibes?? 😭
HOW???? its literally about a girl, more clearly Crybaby(the character that melanie had created), being reincarnated as a nymph😅 she explained it in instagram😅
A pink fairy with 4 eyes is a demon now?!?! yall so obsessed with demonic stuff.. it's getting scary
She’s just singing about her depression and anxiety and using her own style of art to tell the story how’s that demonic…
