Marquez will do four things that recent Pacquiao opponents didn't do:
1. Throwing Jabs
2. Breaking down the initial punches of Pacquiao's large combinations
3. Counterpunching along the fight some solid shots from Pacquiao.
4. Walking down along the ring properly
does anyone know what weight they are fighting at? i'm assuming they are going to fight at 147. JMM is better small and i think pac is too, maybe they should fight at 140 or 135? even though pac has established himself at welterweight. either way it should be an exciting fight, only if it doesn't end early.
@huskysglare1 ..No, I'm talking about Juan. He fights at 135, that's the weight he's best at. He will do no good higher than 140. Any fight higher than 140 will be a disadvantage to him, advantage to whoever he's gonna fight. Manny Pacquiao.
@ErasingIgnorance I am basing my analysis on fights I saw so I guess that is kind of wrong. Maybe I should just watch them hit speed bags and compare or do drills that consist of handspeed only? I guess that is a better way.

@bjlibrero he's not different from when he fought marquez 2. u only think so cuz of his success against the heavier guys. but if u watch the whole marquez 2 fight again, and watch his fights recently aka mosley/clottey etc. he's exactly the same. just heavier

in my opinion this will be the best fight of 2011 but for in order for that to happen both fighters need to try there best at the end of the day and everytime these to fight its gunna be a brawl cause these guys brawl for the full fight and in my opinion it will be a hard one to call but for me pacquiao will win.

Juan is just working on getting a sweat going here, that's why he has the hat and big jacket on. What's intersteing is how much he's concentrating on his feet, circling, and throwing to the body. Mostly this is for the people watching but he throws a couple a real combinations and his hands look fast to me. He also pops the speed bag at the end of the video, which is hard as hell to do. He looks good and I wish him well.

@WESTSIDETRUE You are saying Pacquiao will be a lot heavier then 144 after he rehydrated? Are you joking? Pac's normal weight is around 144. He'd been entering the ring at 144-148. He doesn't dehydrate himself to make weight. It's his normal weight. He was 145 on fight night with Mosley. How is that a huge advantage for Pac? That just means they both will come in the ring without having to dehydrate first.

@greenisnottheenemy Heres the thing though, the reason many see Marquez as having won the first fight is because even though Pacquiao got three knockdowns, Marquez ended up dominating the rest of the fight and it was still close in the scorecards. A fight is not based all in one round, it's a 12 round fight. Also, Pacquiao does NOT have the more accurate punches, accurate means landing all that is thrown, Juan threw less both fights than Paqcuiao and still landed more, both fights. Plus, (cont.)

@huskysglare1 Yeah, when he fights at 135, he re-hydrates to about 145. He's gonna come in at 144, and re-hydrate even higher. Which does make a difference, it favors Manny so much.

@robmeleu1 you dont know boxing bro. if the fight is in 135lbs i think marquez has a better chances of winning the fight. but the problem is this is a welterweight fight i dont think marquez can hurt pac, he is not a power puncher like cotto, margarito, pac can also box marquez like he did to delahoya coto margarito. when marquez fight mayweather in this same division he is not that fast thats why mayweather dominate the fight and he had no power in that fight.

I know for a fact that Floyd will embarass Ortiz because I truly believe Floyd will embarass anyone in his weight class. I do agree that this is a tune-up for Pac though (even though Ortiz is still very good talent)
For those who know more about boxing than me, I have a question. Are catchweights designed only to place penalties on fighters who go ABOVE contracted weight?
I ask this because I would like to see JMM enter between 138 and 140 and if my question if true, I think he just might.

@fighthub he never claimed he can't make 140, did he? I heard in a pretty recent interview that he claims that he's a 140lb fighter.
@greenisnottheenemy Pacquiao's style hasn't changed since this fight. Literally. I'm not hating Paqciuao at all. I'm being completely honest. Also, the second fight, it was extremely close but I had Marquez winning by one point when i judged the fight based upon who got rocked, punches actually landed, knockdowns of course, and the crazy thing is, even though Pacquiao is stronger, he got staggered more because Marquez's punches landed perfectly unlike Paqcuiao whose sometimes landed but (cont.)

Juan Manuel Marquez just secured a third match with Manny Pacquiao. Likar got KTFO in the 1st round. Likar was a decent opponent but the fight was made. Give credit where credit is due. Go MARQUEZ!!!
@spyph Experience does give advantages to fighters, but if you DON'T have a lot of experience that doesn't mean anything for the 1000th time. Like I keep saying over and over, their have been plenty of fighters who were "raw" on experience and defeated their opponents, who have had a TON of experience convincingly. Hell if YOU were naturally good and had better skills than JMM, you could beat him. Inexperienced fighters beat experienced fighters all the time, that is all i'm saying.
@razerick Ortiz has a chance since he is coming off a victory, starting to reach his prime and actually holds all the physical attributes over Floyd. He is bigger/stronger, has good hand speed, aggressive, and he is a freakin southpaw (stylistically the only kind of fighter that can give Floyd problems). He has a WAY better chance than old ass Marquez against Pacman. Marquez will be 38 by fight night and he is fighting at 144 (a horrible weight for him).

@razerick Actually, many agree that Marquez won both fights. I say he won the first for sure and the second could've gone either way. Plus, if you knock down Marquez, he gets right back and comes back harder. I'm being completely unbiased here being a student of boxing and an avid watcher. and your right, Marquez is slower and not as strong but his punches are much more accurate and well placed. It is a fight of Skill and Technique vs Physical attributes such as speed and power.

It's funny how Pacquiao fans are so irritated by the humilliation Marquez applied to recently... It was supposed that Pacquiao was going to KO Marquez in 4 rounds according to him, Freddy Roach and Alex Ariza... but the point is that he looked like a caveman in the ring. He's a decade far from Marquez' technical level... you can insult all you want but the world just saw how Manny isn't the best P4P... he looked bad, frustrated and limited, he lost a fight but he was awarded with the victory

Even when they brawled (not boxing), Pacquiao won most of those sections but if you see, some of the punches still staggered pacquiao because Marquez countered in those moments which proved good sometimes and bad others. During brawling moments, Pacquiao won 70% of the time whilst Marquez 30%. During boxing moments, Marquez won 80% of the time while Pacquiao won 20%. Most of the fight was boxing btw. Just being honest. Pacquiao is still a best but marquez

I like Marquez and he is a great technician but Pacquiao has carried his power up to welterweight and speed marquez is not great at this weight level which was samrt on Paquaios part to have this fight at 144. Pacquaio has improved also this is not the same fighter from back then that Marquez is fighting. It will not last 12 rounds, this fight will be stopped early
marquez trained 18weeks but pacquiao 10weeks only. but why marquez didnt hurt pacquiao? pacman didnt worry to the power of marquez, but when pacquiao hit marquez, marquez is backing off, he feel the power of pacman... and marquez dont want to trade punches with pacman,,, pacman is the champ why marquez is not aggressived? he is the challenger he neends to chase pacquiao, but pacquiao is chasing him....
