That is a different way of doing helical stripes from the one I have used. Very interesting, because I now see how to create stripes with more than two colours. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this video! It took me a couple of tries to begin until I understood the staggered starts but now it's going along swimmingly! Brilliant! Pine green, lighter green, and lilac socks! And I also knit Continental style. Thank you! 🎉 p.s. It helped me to turn on the closed captioning. The CC button at the upper right of the screen. 👍
What a terrific tutorial. Because I knit this "continental" way, and my friends seem to all knit the English way, they can't really help me much when I run into difficulties. As a relatively new knitter, I then turn to RUclips for help, but many of the videos are also done by English style knitters. So happy I found your channel, I am now a subscriber. Thank you! ~Diana K.
Thanks for showing this technique in such a clear manner. For those wondering how to start the pattern, she does mention it at least once during the explanation. Also, that last shot of the beginning rows shows the staggered starts.
WOW you knit fast! It took me a moment to figure out what all the yarn is doing, but when I got it, I got it in a whoosh! Total lightbulb moment! Very nice video... thanks for teaching this!
Thanks for this great tutorial. I have never been satisfied with the look of stripes when knitting in the round - now there's the solution I have been looking for :-)!
It was blurred you knit so fast lol. That was great. I’m gonna hit the like button so I can try this down the road for my kids. I’ve just started getting the hang of knitting Thank you for this
Thank you for this. I had done a hat where the stripes were 2 rounds high and used the TECHknitting method of slipping the first stitch in the 2nd round of a color. It worked really well and I don't mind the tidy row of colors being carried up the back of the hat -- it helps me find the back. I didn't understand the helix/barberpole method that blog explained back then, but thanks to your video I get it. Making a baby hat right now and I can *almost* keep up with you.
Im trying to concentrate on what you are saying, but I am just dumb-founded by how fast you knit...I'm paying a lot more attention to that!! #knittinggoals
This is awesome! Thanks so much! To the person who asked about decreasing I'm guessing you do it the usual way and keep the stitches divided by the number of colors you have.
Thank you so much for showing us this fantastic technique. I have not heard of it before. And I have been knitting for a long time lol....your video was very clear, concise and very easy to follow and easy to listen to as well. I love your knitting technique and wish I could learn to knit that way too..I am not a slow knitter, but I would love to increase my speed....thank you once again - Carole, Victoria Australia.
This is really blowing my mind. like. how is it striping the way it is? it doesn't seem logical. I'm going to have to try this out to experience it for myself.
Thank you for this "lesson"! I'm so excited to try this new to me technique that I've started a hat. My question is how do you do the decreases at the top of the hat so they form the spiral? Hoping to hear from you soon.
A truly, beautifully done video! (Thanks to you) I've used this a few times for hats and a pair of socks, I'm really loving this technique. I sure wish I knew what kind of decreases you're using though, because your top is absolutely prefect!
would it be possible to do a video showing how you actually start the project (beginning with the first row after the k1 p1 band)? this technique intrigues me, but I just want to make sure I am clear on how it is done...thank you.
all you do is add the first color and knit 24 stitches or whatever your divisible number is then place a marker and add your second color knitting 24 more sitches and continue this way. the last color you use will not end at 24 sttices it will go on to the first marker. always look inside and and pick up the color strand that is waiting for you at each marker . hope this helps.
This is a beautiful way of knitting but I would rather that you started from the very beginning as I am completely new to this type of knitting. Could you please do another video, this time starting from casting on and going forward? I would really appreciate this and so would other people as well. I am a British knitter so I cannot knit continental style, would it be possible for you to knit this in English Style, please?
Oh yeah, I like this sooo much better than trying to make a seamless color change and ending up with that gap. Thank you so much for that great demonstration! 😄
Have seen others asking the same question(s) that I have but can't find your answers. 1. How are decreases done? 2. How do you end the hat (project)? Love your technique and really want to get started but need to know the answers. THANK YOU!
the pattern on ravelry says that you count stitches for normal decreases and whatever color the decrease is on, that's the color you k2tog (for example) with.
Love love love this! I’ve cast on two right away. I have two questions: is it a good idea to go up in needle size? And how do you decrease? Gradually? Or k2tog the last few rows?
Sure. I'm making mittens that way and the ribbing looks ok. You get the purl bumps on the bottom of course. Personally, I'd prefer a sock with a solid top or toe, depending on your way of knitting, and start the helix for the rest of the article.
I would have liked to see this from the beginning. you talk about the dark stitch marker as the beginning of the round. there are several things that confuse me would you mind doing a video from the beginning. just the first few rows?
such a lifesaver...nothing announces "novice knitter" like striping jogs (unless its laddering) and the other methods of dealing with it are not as tidy as this.
She has cast on 60 stitches. If she used 4 colors, she would change yarn every 15. You just need to make sure that the number of colors you use, divides evenly into the number of stitches you cast on.
Why can't you like videos twice? This one is awesome! Thank you!
I love concise videos like this where the instructor does not spend a lot of time introducing the subject.
That is a different way of doing helical stripes from the one I have used. Very interesting, because I now see how to create stripes with more than two colours. Thank you.
Nice concise and clear explanation. I enjoyed learning from someone who doesn't knit at a snail's pace.
Thank you so much for this video! It took me a couple of tries to begin until I understood the staggered starts but now it's going along swimmingly! Brilliant! Pine green, lighter green, and lilac socks! And I also knit Continental style. Thank you! 🎉
p.s. It helped me to turn on the closed captioning. The CC button at the upper right of the screen. 👍
Very nice tutorial on helix knitting. Clearly explained. Thank you so much for expanding my knitting skills in such a pleasant way!
Thank you! ~Diana K.
I love this. Seeing how to keep the colors organized is awesome!
This is the first video tutorial I've found that uses continental like me! You're great😊
Easy peasy! Great explanation and easy to see what you were doing.
Thanks for showing this technique in such a clear manner. For those wondering how to start the pattern, she does mention it at least once during the explanation. Also, that last shot of the beginning rows shows the staggered starts.
Perfectly explained and shown without complications. Thank you.
WOW you knit fast! It took me a moment to figure out what all the yarn is doing, but when I got it, I got it in a whoosh! Total lightbulb moment! Very nice video... thanks for teaching this!
Laynie Fingers I think she is continental knitting since she is holding the yarn in her left hand.
Mind Blown! I never knew this technique existed! This is really cool and I must give it a try! Thank you for demonstrating it!
Thanks for this great tutorial. I have never been satisfied with the look of stripes when knitting in the round - now there's the solution I have been looking for :-)!
Savage knitter 😳..mesmerizing to watch and listen to the needle sounds
I am an experienced knitter and have never seen this before, pretty impressive and nifty and will remember it!
Cool technique, beautifully demonstrated! Thank you 😘
That's brilliant, I will definitely try this next multi-color project!

Wowwwww thank you very much. This is an amazing way to knit. I’m very happy that I have learn that method
WOW! Mind blown! Thank you for a clear and easy to understand video. I'm so glad that I am not the only one that knits at "warp speed " lol.
You can knit at that speed??! Wow!! Can you give any advice on how to build your speed when knitting?

Thanks so much! Just amazed at how this works! A fun project and using up stash😃
Very clear instructions! Thank you.
It was blurred you knit so fast lol. That was great. I’m gonna hit the like button so I can try this down the road for my kids. I’ve just started getting the hang of knitting
Thank you for this
This is a beautiful technique I can’t wait to start one I will make a small sample first
Thank you, what an excellent tutorial!

I love your video ! I will try this method to make a Christmas gift :D
Great explanation. Thank you! ❤
Fascinating and pretty too. Thank you.

This is the blog and post I'm talking about: techknitting.blogspot.com/2007/01/jogless-stripes.html
Im trying to concentrate on what you are saying, but I am just dumb-founded by how fast you knit...I'm paying a lot more attention to that!! #knittinggoals
Thanks for sharing this useful information.
That is so smart! Thank you!!!!
This is awesome! Thanks so much! To the person who asked about decreasing I'm guessing you do it the usual way and keep the stitches divided by the number of colors you have.

Nice video. Very helpful. Thank you
Well explained! Love it
Very clear explanation. Thank you.
I may have to give this a try! oooo Thanks for the video! :)
Easy taught!!! Lots. Of thanks. !!!!!
Great tutorial! Thankyou.
Omg you're so fast!!! I need more practice D: i didnt even know it was possible. I can crochet fast. But that is really fast knitting :D love it!
Can you possibly show how you started this and how do you increase/decrease in this method thanks
I love using 3 yarns to knit all these colors !
Wonderful! Will try this soon thanks!
Oh and how I wish I could knit Continental style as fast as you do!!
A truly, beautifully done video! (Thanks to you) I've used this a few times for hats and a pair of socks, I'm really loving this technique. I sure wish I knew what kind of decreases you're using though, because your top is absolutely prefect!

He!lo, Just found your channel I'm new at knitting great tutorial, I just subscribed.
love this video for helix
It would have been nice to see it from the beginning
there are some other helix knitting vidios that show you from the beginning.
@@lindamcneely Too bad you didn’t do that. Now we have to find a better tutorial showing how to start the other 2 colors
simply look up helix knitting its not hard
@@lindamcneely.. Any you particularly recommend?
you knit really fast! I'm going to try this.
Brilliant! Thank you.
That is so cool. Thank you.
I would love to do this! Question is.... how do you start? lol
+Ozzy Lita You read my mind
lol a new talent lol
+Ozzy Lita I found a video that shows how to start it.
saweet!
+mktcxs where is it then ?
Works great for single stripes. If you want wider stripes then you need a separate ball for each round even if it’s the same color.
She says do your favorite cast on, then knit your band and add the new yarn color at the predetermined stitch count (in the case of this hat...20 sts)
June Brown At
It makes no difference what knitting style you use. Just knit, changing colors as she shows here.
gorgeous. I'm trying this. Would be nice to see you decreasing though
Oh good point, I would love to see that too
Perfecto! Gracias!🌹
That's amazing. Thanks
C'est merveilleux ! Pour faire : bleu blanc rouge blanc, il faut deux pelotes de blanc et deviser par 4 ? Merci.
THANK YOU!
So how do you decrease when making the hat to keep it even all the way around
the pattern on ravelry says that you count stitches for normal decreases and whatever color the decrease is on, that's the color you k2tog (for example) with.
Спасибо большое. Привет из России.
Love this method! but what happens when you come to the end? do you simply dontinue the same way?
this is fantastic! how are there any thumb downs??! haha thanks for sharing!
This would be lovely to knit striped socks. Thank you.
Yup. Gonna try this
Wonderful
Love love love this! I’ve cast on two right away. I have two questions: is it a good idea to go up in needle size? And how do you decrease? Gradually? Or k2tog the last few rows?
I have never heard of Helix, but found it really interesting and neat. I will have to try it sometime! Can you make socks this way?
Sure. I'm making mittens that way and the ribbing looks ok. You get the purl bumps on the bottom of course. Personally, I'd prefer a sock with a solid top or toe, depending on your way of knitting, and start the helix for the rest of the article.
Wow...so cool! How did you cast on?
I would have liked to see this from the beginning. you talk about the dark stitch marker as the beginning of the round. there are several things that confuse me would you mind doing a video from the beginning. just the first few rows?
such a lifesaver...nothing announces "novice knitter" like striping jogs (unless its laddering) and the other methods of dealing with it are not as tidy as this.
I love the hat you show earlier in the video can you tell me the pattern you used? I would like to knit it thank you!
How do you start this hat project? Is there a full video show from start to finish?
Great 🎉🎉🎉 Thank you
I would have liked to also see the cast on for this. But otherwise, very cool.
It would be really helpful to show how to to add new colors because it tends to be a bit more difficult than the regular rows.
Brilliant video, does this only work with odd numbers of colours?
It works with any number of colors, but only with stripes that are 1 round each.
She has cast on 60 stitches. If she used 4 colors, she would change yarn every 15. You just need to make sure that the number of colors you use, divides evenly into the number of stitches you cast on.
Hello, I like the yarn you have there. What yarn are you using?
Nice yarn ..what kind of yarn is that and what is the size of the needles?? ..thanx
