Definitely get the nuka-cola collectron - you can then build it or set other collectrons to collect nuka-cola, which are frequently part of challenges. If you build a different collectron and change its subroutine, it'll collect its original items plus whatever you set the program to.
Recently go ahold of the ammo converter myself however I got it from Minerva, which was my only way to get it since I personally actually hate the concept of "working with raiders". Frankly, on the one hand it's useful if you're like me and often find yourself with leftover rounds from either boxes or bodies when using melee (since they give you random amounts in daily ops, expeditions, or ammo boxes) to weapons you KNOW you aren't gonna use (think pipe guns with .38s and revolvers with .44s) but it really is a critical flaw that you can't just give it whatever you have when you have it. It would be much better even if the points were as minimal as single digits if it had a "convert all remaining" option over exact amounts, not to mention seemingly missing ammo types still like alien blaster rounds making those specifically worthless to the machine. While Armco is better, it's problem is that it's a higher reputation requirement and I believe Minerva also doesn't sell it. I'd love to have it, but I'm unlikely to be able to at this rate.
Bethesda NEEDS you to have left over ammo in your inventory, so that you feel pressured to buy their Fallout 1st subscription hehe Jokes aside though, the reputation stuff goes by pretty fast, bro, and after a while you run out of things to do, so might as well do the raider stuff as well :D And if you played their missions, you'll see these aren't like...terrible raiders... By no means are they good lol, but they aren't horrible people haha
See I'd consider it more if not for two details. Firstly, after Fallout 3 and 4 ( _especially Nuka-World_ ) Bethesda has basically conditioned me to assume the term "raider" means "generic unstable psycho that deserves no remorse because they have none" and they have themselves to blame for that opinion forming. As well, I've seen interactions with them as part of the entire Brotherhood storyline they added, these raiders mean so little in the grand scheme the one time I chose mindless violence on them with that raider from the opening where Shin is testing you and she never came up again. I only got scolded the one time by the person following me for the mission half-way though the quest. If Bethesda wanted me to find them acceptable at best, they should have called them anything but "raiders". Maybe it's just that I like New Vegas, but I would have even taken "Crater gangers" or something. I could believe a kind of aggressive gang is not the worst if moral grey for their own reason, but "raiders" implies they don't care and are the exact things I'm fighting.
...What version, this matters. (For the record, I sided with Paladin Rahmani and did the quest with intent to talk Shin into seeing the worth in focusing in Appalachia but obviously he chose to leave and I didn't stop him.)
