Ive been playing this today. It's way better than a 4. This score is absurd. It's very Arcady. It's not long, but playing with other people is great fun, the levelling system is cool, and you can unlock different emblems and show them off in your profile. I will admit this game could have been really really good and it's wasted potential. But for what it is, it is enjoyable. It's easily a 7/10 at least. I wouldn't personally score it any lower. I guess it depends on what your expectations are going into it.
No you're not. This game is awesome. And the reviews are extremely bias. The reviewers will basically judge a game based on their own personal petty preference and not as a "whole" rather. Which that in itself, is bias and not a legitimate review. Same happened with Call Of Juerz The Cartel.
+AnthonyTheAwesome500 in case you think i hate the game I don't but there is something about it mainly points different reviewers have made it doesn't feel as good as Transformers or Metal gear Rising Combat system & is probably shorter than them both
lol so mad overwatch is the best thing in years and you aren't good enough to play it with all of your friends. all of your friends are playing 10/10 overwatch and here you are, sitting all alone playing this garbage. give me a break with you haters lolol
Its honestly a 7 out of 10 game. The gameplay and co-op makes it worth your time.idk who buys platinum games for the stories lol,the biggest issue is definitely the achievements since each mission type is random
It's a shame because the Turtles deserve a really awesome game. I really want a Out of the Shadows/Arkham esque game but with more money and time put behind it to make it brilliant. I can only dream.
I made the mistake of pre purchasing this on steam. All I did was ask myself: "This came from Platnium?!?!?!?". The game runs at 30FPS and the combat is shallow af. Never have I been so disappointed in my life. Don't buy this game.
And people criticize that Out of the Shadows game that was 15 buck$ and had a deep combat based on the Arkham style action, progression, customization, story mode and couch co-op arcade mode. it was a great game and quickly became my favorite turtle game of all time! it just felt right. finally a turtle game evolved from being just a fun but shallow button mashing beat em up co-op. And people didn´t apreciated it. (ps: I played it on PS3 more than 1 year latter than the Xbox release. I know the xbox version is criticized for being bugged beyond broken. But the PS3 version was not. Didin´t come across any bug at all.)
Sooo wait for the price to drop? I main I still play the 2K3 Turtles games along with Out of the Shadows. But this game appears to be more expensive than its worth. Also I knew the flashy attacks would be a bad idea, while watching the beta footage it got too crazy with all the slash waves and shock waves. Would have preferred the "Crash!" and "Boooom!" from the first 2K3 game instead of colorful slash waves.
Second consecutive Turtles game we get that lacks local co-op. I'm out for that reason alone. It's pretty sad that my NES understood the value of this concept back in 90.
I just want a good tmnt game to play, best one I ever played was the 2003 game on GameCube. I wanna another one to play that’s not tied into movies or shows
the one for original xbox was amazing...the local co op was sooo fuckin fun...weither it was jsut 1 of ur freinds or u and 3 of ur friends it was so fun...and way 2 hard by urself so u needed at least one person 2 play with u it was fucking awsome
I actually like the game. It gets better as you power up your turtle which helps the fighting quite a bit. Is it as good as Transformers?...no but it's decent for what it is. I think they should have went the old school route with this one. A brand new arcade/SNES style TMNT game would be cool to have on current gen systems. Maybe next time we'll get that.
No TMNT game will be as good as Turtles in Time (because nostalgia). This review is pretty harsh, but I would recommend waiting till it comes down to $30 or so. I've put in 80 hours or so already, and am still enjoying the game, but I'm just trying to beat every level on Very Hard to play all the secret boss battles. There are several challenges that make it very repayable like beating a level on Normal or Higher difficulty without getting shell shocked with each character. I'd buy again for $50, but I really enjoy beat em up style games, but if you're just a trying to casually play this game or just want to play the game once on Normal or Easy difficulty for the story you will be disappointed because the game is fairly short. On easy difficulty I beat every level in about 3 hours. On Very Hard it can take 6-12 hours though (depending on your skill and that of your friends) because you will die, and enemies are very formidable. I'd give it a 8/10 if it was $30, but for $50 5/10 is about right for the average gamer.
No they are underrated and sell too little. People would buy Cods and over vanquished, darksiders 1 over bayonetta and deny themselves good games and add a complaint that the industry lacks creativity.
Sounds like they got the Legend of Korra treatment with a newer release price. I'll grab it for $15 or less. I wish Platinum would get a budget for Korra and TMNT as big as they get for Bayonetta.
I thought it was obvious that all along people just want a side-scrolling beat-em up like the classic Ninja Turtles, I'm not a big fan of the franchise but even I know that.
I don't care how good it is, these review sites expect way to much...they expect the game to be perfect on it's first attempt, I don't care what game we are talking about, there's very few games that are that good right out of the gate. Games take time to get good, the only thing that matters in the begging is do people like it, I mean when a developer tries doing something new or different or god forbid original everyone craps on it if it's not perfect. I mean look a Borderlands, the first one doesn't compare to the second game but it was cool, the street fighter game that put that franchise on the map was II, the first one wasn't even a fighter, it was a sides scroller. There's too many examples to think of but the point is clear, sometimes it's what the game represents or is trying to be, even if it's not there yet. I mean damn man some games take countless iterations before they even come close to being good.
I remember when I had sone reservations about a certain game and got jumped on by a bunch of people saying Platinum doesn't make shitty games, and telling me their legacy like I had no idea. Well, the certainly do make shitty ones now. This is around 2 to 3 in a row depending on a person's outlook. The Transformers one was sorta passable, but nothing special. If they make one or two more they'll be at about a 50% shitty/mediocre to awesome ratio. Kinda sad really. In a way they are super disappointing because you've come to expect more from a studio. They should really go back to original IP instead of tarnishing their good name with licensed shit. Sometimes those names can sell a few extra copies. You don't want people to start thinking, "Oh, it's by Platinum...not getting it...don't they make all those shitty licensed games? I remember them making excellent titles, but it was so long ago I can't remember." It's like continuing the licensed game curse that I thought was dead after the Arkham games. Pretty sad when Platinum can't even make your license into a fun gaming experience. I don't necessarily go by reviews though. I can't remember anyone liking Korra, but did anyone here enjoy Devastation or this one? Or maybe some positives about them? I really like both properties, and I almost bought this one, I saw a lot of people streaming and playing it, but the reviews killed it for me. I can't spend $50 on a chance and something only a few hours without much replay value.
Korra was a fucking blast, especially for 15 dollars. Devestation is solid, and this TMNT game is pretty fun too. Are any of these up to Metal Gear Rising/Bayonetta? No, but they're still fun games.
+Alex Phinney as someone who loves avatar and platinum, Korra is not a fucking blast. It's insanely repetitive and hard. I play it for 20 minutes, die 3 times on a sudden difficult spike, then cut it off. Transformers wasn't great, but at least the combat was fun.
Oh God I hate fetch quest, that's one of the problem I had with the original TMNT on NES. If they make it more like Turtles in Time for SNES or Manhattan Project for NES but in 2.5D that would be awesome. It's too bad this game was rush too soon.
I remember the first vids of Devastation and being insanely hyped thinking it would be this long in depth game similar to Bayonetta, then I got it and was bored after 2 levels. Fast fwd to this, same exact process cept I haven't bought this game. I'm gonna learn this time around and wait for it to be cheap
It boggles the brain how all these reviewers are agreeing on one thing and they try to sound like they loved the arcade games but complain about the repetitiveness and chaos. Those were 2 things that made arcade games!! lol Also seems like they forgot about Out of the Shadows game lol
So, this is the second time Platinum 'failed' because they gave the game away to someone else to finish it for them? That perfect record of theirs soiled again, they already addressed that exact mistake last time, and they did it again. Nier: Automata better be more than twice the stature of this game (an 8) or i'll be actually pissed. I loved Nier.
I don't get this because for this week ign has been showing the games play through as if they like the game. If ign doesn't like the game, why keep showing all of these play throughs?
3 years later and still sore for this disappointment. And I marvel at people being able to lie to themselves just because they desperately wanted this game to be good. Streets of Rage 4 has shown that its possible to give a proper treatment to those franchises. But to dream about a Turtles game as good as SOR4... it's just this, a dream. :)
It's extremely hard to take this review seriously after hearing the game being described as an action RPG, which it fucking isn't. I guess this guy has never played any of Platinum's games.
It's really a bummer this game didn't turn out well... I've been looking forward to this for a while now and had hopes that it would be a fun, new, turtles game! It's made by Platinum, it could have been an amazing local co-op game, and I love the ninja turtles. Too bad it was just another Legend of Korra game, I guess we can't trust Platinum when it's not one of their IPs...
was really hoping this would be good. definitley doesnt deserve the $50 pricetag with all the other stellar games out right now. Not sure if its platinum or activision to blame...
I think you fail to realize that there's only been 1 good Ninja Turtles game on a console format in history and that's the Manhattan Project. these hack and slash beat em ups I've been the way this franchise has been going for years now and I feel like it's what they need to get away from.
just saying the game is nowhere near as bad as the game that came out a few years ago called tmnt out of the shadows which ironically is the same name as the movie that comes out in a few days
This game looks good. Not every fucking game needs to be a long drawn out story!!! Actually I can only play story “one and done games” twice a year. Some people like button mash games, it’s fun and brings you back to childhood
Really? After Transformers was ok, Korra was junk, Wonderful 101 was neat but had some mechanics issues, Star Fox 0, and Scalebound was being complained against when it showed at last years Gamescom ... I really don't trust them anymore! Bayonets 1 and 2 are looking more like flukes than Platinum's "standard."
This game sucks. The missions suck. The faces of the turtles suck. And the level design sucks too. It's true, this game had the potential to be great. The only thing that stands out are the boss fights, although you feel like kid Gohan and Krillin fighting Super Saiyan Vegeta if you get what I'm sayin. The missions are completely disconnected from the story. So you have a cool cut scene at the start of the level, you waist 30 minutes running around listening to April giving you orders then you find the sewer that takes you to the boss and you get another cut scene then the cool boss battle that takes 15 minutes to kill. I wish that they would have taken some pointers from OUT OF THE SHADOWS and made the combat style feel more real plus make the level design more immersive.
Boring game, no couch local coop, bad graphics (for the stages), empty maps. The only things that are actually cool are the musics, the Boss, their paterns and the turtles moves. Its a 3/10 for me. My TMNT turtles in time SNES cartridge can sleep peacefuly, the new best TNMT game is not here yet.
Ive been playing this today. It's way better than a 4. This score is absurd. It's very Arcady. It's not long, but playing with other people is great fun, the levelling system is cool, and you can unlock different emblems and show them off in your profile.

Bosses are also very challenging, which is a huge plus.
i must be one of the few who actually like this game
me too dude , i really like it
No you're not. This game is awesome. And the reviews are extremely bias.
The reviewers will basically judge a game based on their own personal petty preference and not as a "whole" rather. Which that in itself, is bias and not a legitimate review. Same happened with Call Of Juerz The Cartel.
It's still the best turtle game ever made
A 4? Holy shit...... I actually kinda liked maybe a 6 or a 7
Nope I completely agree
50 bucks, short as f* game , broken and underdeveloped mechanics
Quit crying
+Steve Jones Gaming
It's only short if you play on easy, try playing this game on hard tho.
+NascarFanMel141820 3 hours long
i just finished playing through the game and i enjoyed it. it wasnt what i was expecting but i had fun with it.
50$, a little over 3 hours to complete, 30 FPS, not satisfying gameplay and stupid jokes. What a time to be alive.
YOU WHERE THE CHOSEN ONE PLATINUM YOU WHERE MEANT TO BRING BLANCE TO CRAPPY MODERN VIDEO GAMES NOT DESTROY IT!!!
Nice revenge of the sith reference.
+AnthonyTheAwesome500 in case you think i hate the game I don't but there is something about it mainly points different reviewers have made it doesn't feel as good as Transformers or Metal gear Rising Combat system & is probably shorter than them both
*WERE
+Tom Franco you forgot the blance. balance*
+Cho Tube how about it was 4:30am & I'd just woken up
Looks better than Overwatch
not really
lol so mad overwatch is the best thing in years and you aren't good enough to play it with all of your friends. all of your friends are playing 10/10 overwatch and here you are, sitting all alone playing this garbage. give me a break with you haters lolol
lol battleborn funboy bullshitting here
What's the deal with Overwatch? I couldn't care any less about a MP shooter
"...poorly designed rooftops..."
wot
Trust him. He's seen some well designed rooftops in his lifetime, maybe
+Liam Timmerman Or assassins creed 2 and brotherhood
He's obviously meaning the level design and the theme, you fucking idiot.
+sergiomonty no shit. I know what he meant, but I'm commenting on how he said. He makes it seem like the rooftops themselves are bad.
Dominic Gianna Costa You're a loser.
I've said it before and I'll keep on saying it. ROCKSTEADY need to make a TMNT game.
did anyone else noticed they spelt it Manhatten ? with an E
Hey i needed to know how i could change the teenage mutant subtitle language from russia to english please help
Better than Korra IMHO
korra waz $15 though
how much is this?
Chris Sukam WOW. That's gonna go down to $25 or be on sale frequently I'm sure, with these poor reviews. It's gonna be a big loss for them
$40 on Steam but i wouldn't pay more then $5 for it.
Its $40 everywhere not $50.
Hmmm, still might give this game a try. I'm a fan of old school beat-em-ups.
Awesome beat em up game loved this game.
This is hack 'n' slash, not beat 'em up.
+MadFinnTech cause they use slashing weapons?
+MadFinnTech hahaha you fuckin nerd
Lance Cade. would it be a good game for kids? i was thinking of picking it up for my boy, he is 9.
Where do i pick up this "DLC"?
It seems like they farted it out just before the film came out.
that's probably pretty accurate
I'll pick it up for $20
You may have some enjoyment. :)
it's one of the best ninja turtle games yet and i can't wait for the next new game because I'm sure it's going to be just as good .🐢🖒
a 4 is way too high! this game deserved a 1 at best
damn. why so low? not even mediocre
Big corporate sites like Gamespot are gaming industry cheerleaders. I'm surprised they were willing to give it less than a 5.
I made the mistake of pre purchasing this on steam. All I did was ask myself: "This came from Platnium?!?!?!?". The game runs at 30FPS and the combat is shallow af. Never have I been so disappointed in my life. Don't buy this game.
I can't find it anywhere in ps store
I have to say TMNT 2003 is the best turtles tv show. Too bad its so hard to find them on dvd.
(ps: I played it on PS3 more than 1 year latter than the Xbox release. I know the xbox version is criticized for being bugged beyond broken. But the PS3 version was not. Didin´t come across any bug at all.)
Now we have to suck on this... screw it!
I want Out of The Shadows 2!
Activision, turning everything into shit.
Still waiting on a Rocksteady Turtles game, I know it will never happen but a man can dream
The game feels like it was concerned with looking like a TMNT game instead of functioning like one.
I feel like they rushed this game for the movie release
Sooo wait for the price to drop? I main I still play the 2K3 Turtles games along with Out of the Shadows. But this game appears to be more expensive than its worth.
Also I knew the flashy attacks would be a bad idea, while watching the beta footage it got too crazy with all the slash waves and shock waves. Would have preferred the "Crash!" and "Boooom!" from the first 2K3 game instead of colorful slash waves.
And once again...i'll go back to Turtles in Time...is kind of baffling that there hasn't been a single game that can hold a candle to that classic.
i love this game it was worth full price. Turtlez rule man.
OMFG I was really looking forward to this!
Second consecutive Turtles game we get that lacks local co-op. I'm out for that reason alone. It's pretty sad that my NES understood the value of this concept back in 90.

Good review.
Can you play split screen
damm, NES's one is still the best TMNT game ever
I actually like the game. It gets better as you power up your turtle which helps the fighting quite a bit. Is it as good as Transformers?...no but it's decent for what it is. I think they should have went the old school route with this one. A brand new arcade/SNES style TMNT game would be cool to have on current gen systems.
Maybe next time we'll get that.

my hopes being crushed away...
What is this? PS2 game?
why everone talk bad about this game? this is best game in years behind, ITS GREAT TO BE TURTLE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
aww man...but hey they actually use the IDW Mateus Santolouco art style rather than the Bay one
So turtals in time is still the best one?
The look of this kind of reminds me of that TMNT 03 game on PS2.
Who remembers the old TMNT arcade game back in the day. That was waaaaaaaay better then this.
Platinum games are overrated
Not ALL of them, most are great
No they are underrated and sell too little. People would buy Cods and over vanquished, darksiders 1 over bayonetta and deny themselves good games and add a complaint that the industry lacks creativity.
Imran Ahmad Infinite Space is SEVERELY underrated
*too
Tom Franco Sorry I was rage typing.
Sounds like they got the Legend of Korra treatment with a newer release price.
I'll grab it for $15 or less.

Its $40
Korra was a fucking blast, especially for 15 dollars. Devestation is solid, and this TMNT game is pretty fun too. Are any of these up to Metal Gear Rising/Bayonetta? No, but they're still fun games.
this is not platinum main team .. big team works on Scalebound , secondary team are making these low/med budget titles like kora ..

Joe Musashi?
I remember the first vids of Devastation and being insanely hyped thinking it would be this long in depth game similar to Bayonetta, then I got it and was bored after 2 levels. Fast fwd to this, same exact process cept I haven't bought this game. I'm gonna learn this time around and wait for it to be cheap
This is not "beat 'em up". This is hack 'n' slash. Two completely different genres.
Wrong. Hack n slash is a type of beat em up.
It boggles the brain how all these reviewers are agreeing on one thing and they try to sound like they loved the arcade games but complain about the repetitiveness and chaos. Those were 2 things that made arcade games!! lol Also seems like they forgot about Out of the Shadows game lol
i dont understand how no good tmnt games have been made, cmon already
This looks fun tho why the harsh rating????
TheSherlockHokage psn sale? just bought it myself.

I think the 2008 movie is OK I don't know why people talk shit about it. I liked the dark story and a break from the goofy story.
I don't get this because for this week ign has been showing the games play through as if they like the game. If ign doesn't like the game, why keep showing all of these play throughs?
awesome this games done now work on that kill la kill game
This game is sick it has the same stuff in the movie and jumping of buildings and free roam
Did he seriously say that the fact you can't button mash that the game is bad you have to be kidding me right
3 years later and still sore for this disappointment. And I marvel at people being able to lie to themselves just because they desperately wanted this game to be good. You can't be serious.
why not, its such a wonder i want a good TMNT game?
it is a good tmnt game the best one since Turtles in time.. and thats not saying much i know but it's fun not perfect but not bad by any means.
yea, kinda rate that, played it and i say to not expect much from it, take it as an arcade game at most and u will have fun
Ciprian Pânzariu Yeah it's simple yet enjoyment to be had for sure :)
Fancy checking out a picture of Leo I just drew? instagram.com/p/BGFjeApHTuY/
Cowabunga! Dudes!
Wow, Platinum Games are on a bad game streak on their latest releases. Korra, Star Fox and now this?
was really hoping this would be good. definitley doesnt deserve the $50 pricetag with all the other stellar games out right now. Not sure if its platinum or activision to blame...
Definitely Activision
It's likely not Platinum's fault, they have a nearly spotless record. Activision on the other hand rushes out garbage constantly.
jaquan541 lol
Considering that Transformers came out to be a good game I'm gonna say Activision.
Could see it coming
I was excited to buy it, but after the bad reviews, I don't think so :(
Wow, I didn't know Gamespot gave less than a 5 for any highly publicized game. This game must be REALLY bad.
Misspelled Manhattan in the title.
a beat em up isn't deep enough for them.....wait what
I think you fail to realize that there's only been 1 good Ninja Turtles game on a console format in history and that's the Manhattan Project. these hack and slash beat em ups I've been the way this franchise has been going for years now and I feel like it's what they need to get away from.

This review seems extremely biased
The only thing I liked about this game is the design and the cutscene
Well that was.. unexpected...
What a surprise! Nobody could have been expecting it to be shit!
This game looks good. Not every fucking game needs to be a long drawn out story!!! Actually I can only play story “one and done games” twice a year. Some people like button mash games, it’s fun and brings you back to childhood
I would give it a eight
Dammit Platinum Games I trusted you...
Really? I really don't trust them anymore! Bayonets 1 and 2 are looking more like flukes than Platinum's "standard."
+Randall Adkins the only people complaining about Scale bound were Sony people
I'll still buy it.
I saw this coming from a mile away.....
Personally one of the most disappointing games ever, since I'm a huge turtle fan, I really wanted to like this but it just was bad
I really wanted this game to be good...
It's funny maybe 7 or 8, but 4? No way.
Not even a 6, fuck I wanted this to be so good :(
What!! a new ninja turtles game who made it ?
