I’m a Punjabi Brahmin and my father and grandfather came to India from Lahore after partition. This ritual may differ from region to region but idea is same. Kriya happens on 11th or 13th day after passing away of a person. Till then the soul of the departed person is supposed to stay in this world. Till that time the soul is not liberated from shackles of earthly existence. Only after performing Kriya and Pind-daan the soul frees itself from this world and unites with the ancestors of the family who have already passed away. It’s very difficult to explain all this by writing here but I hope you must have gotten the idea. Once again, keep up the good work and do visit India. 🙏

Some hindu mantras are very effective, like Ganash Mantra for success and Lakhshami mantra for wealth amd money. I do not know much if those are good for salvation or not. Also Dhanwantari mantra to cure decease. These are all Devtas but not supreme lord.
