We visited the port of Warnemunde (for Berlin) on our Baltic cruise on the NCL Getaway in 2022.

  • Warnemunde is the port for Berlin (although the transfer to Berlin is several hours) Having already been to Berlin ( from the UK it's only a short flight ) we decided to just have a mooch and general wander around Warnemunde itself. We knew there was a lighthouse that you could go up so this was a must see as we love a tower but we didn't know how to get there and how far away it was. When we docked in Warnemunde we could see that we were right next to the railway line which would give you easy access to nearby Rostock or do a DIY to Berlin (although I personally wouldn't choose that option as the distance from the ship would worry me). We could see the lighthouse in the distance from our balcony which was encouraging. It took approximately 30 mins to walk to the lighthouse, entrance was 2 euros and the climb was fairly easy going and added another tower to our list of towers climbed. We walked through the town on our way back to the ship, it was a very pleasant and peaceful walk with pretty houses and shops. Of course if you have travelled from further afield you would probably choose to see Berlin (a magnificent city) which is why ships spend lots of time docked here. Have a lovely time whatever you choose to do.
