      Hi CartoonUniverse, I'm a big fan of your videos, and I have a potential theory. In the episode with the Starscraper, did you notice all the pillars at the top that had staffs identical to Viren's but with different gem colors? You probably did bc you notice everything, but if you didn't, it would be a cool video topic because I think one of the Katolis high mage's stole or was gifted the purple one. If you see this, please respond! ✌️😋

      I’m confused by the star touched elves decision to execute Leola. She didn’t do anything horrible and she’s just a kid. She also wouldn’t have posed a threat by staying alive if she was taught to not help humans with magic. It seems executing her was for some sort of twisted pleasure.

  • @summertime6785

    I agree with you. While this in no way excuses Aaravos’s monstrous actions, it’s hard not to sympathize with him after learning his own people had his daughter executed for such a *petty* reason. Not to mention their idea of “mercy” was to offer to execute Aaravos with his daughter instead of taking him and sparing her. No wonder he hates the Startouch Elves so much.

    It’s interesting that the council actually made their own prophecy come true, Leola taught humans magic, they kill her, vengeance and grief consumes Aaravos, he acts on his plan of revenge, and that spirals into chaos.
    So their own worry was caused by their cruelty towards a child, more than what she actually did.
    They made it spiral into chaos…

    • @dragonhero14
      @dragonhero14 4 месяца назад +66

      Well this is interesting. They didn't seem to do the same to Aaravos despite all he did before he was sealed. Which means that either they can't have interaction with Xadia without a proper physical form.... or they may have seen this path as the only one forward. The counsel seems to act like they are aware of something not explained. For them to be so severe with the punishment pushes things to desperation. In fact, Xadia being divided like it is may give us a clue. It's possible that Xadia was originally two worlds that have been combined. Or..... Xadia was entirely non magical. But elves and other magical creatures have taken refuge there.

      @@lordpessimism that's a very interesting idea. One's perspective on magic influences their ability to use it. If you see magic as a tool without love then you will use "ingredients", the same way Claudia couldn't help herself but see ingredients when looking at that adorable kitten/ tiger-cub (can't remember how the species was called). But casting a spell with love, instead as just a tool maybe allows one to bypass the need for ingredients. I am kinda miffed that Viren didn't give Soren the letter of apology in that one episode. Granted, an argument could be made that maybe Soren wouldn't believe it
      Regardless of why Viren didn't give him the letter, I'm still upset at that part. It did seem like Soren was upset that Viren sacrificed his own heart instead of Soren's to do that cinder spell to protect everyone from the fire.

      @@DragonGoddess18 They did explain why in Cosmo’s narration. “Truth is everything. But before you give it to another, ask yourself. Are you giving them clarity, light, and purpose? Or are you shifting a burden onto someone who needs all of their strength”.
      There is a chance that Soren reading that letter would do nothing but given him more pain he doesn’t deserve. He might read about what Viren did to his mother and Kpp’ar, and a small part of him would tell him it was somehow his fault. That their family wouldn’t have fallen apart if he hadn’t gotten sick. It’s not at all true, and he may even know that with the logical part of his head, but it would still feel that way.
      And really, I think everything Soren needed to hear, Viren already said in the previous episode. That Soren did not deserve to be treated so coldly and with such cruelty by his father, and that what happened to him wasn’t his fault. Soren knowing the reason for Viren’s cruelty is not required for Soren to heal. And Viren also knows he doesn’t deserve forgiveness. All he wants is to give Soren a sense of closure so he can move in with his life, which he has.
      Also I think Soren did at least respect Viren’s sacrifice, if you look at his expressions right after Viren cast the spell.

    • @DragonGoddess18
      @DragonGoddess18 4 месяца назад +9

      @@LauraM96829 I don't deny Kosmo's viewpoint on that. However, it's not really a "one-size fits all" solution/tactic
      My take is this: Soren would have a better understanding of what happened instead of a foggy recollection of what happened when he was a little kid. Maybe even a mature view on it all. They could have talked a bit more and Viren would reassure him that it wasn't Soren's fault at all. Besides, I don't think Lissa is still that great either.
      Yes,Viren was harsh that day and he should have apologized to her after they talked to each other with cooler heads. At the same time, she still chose to leave the kids behind in spite of not trusting Viren anymore. Viren wasn't perfect but Lissa wasn't a good mother either since she wasn't there for her children after the divorce

    I don’t know, I feel like Aaravos’ story might be highly embellished to say the least. Remember, he was telling it subjectively to Claudia to make her feel sympathy. He had a clear motive to twist the tale in a way that makes him seem like the victim. But he conveniently didn’t bring up this story or his “inner motivation” until it served his goals. What better way to convince someone than telling them a story that is strikingly similar to your own? He also never said “for Leola” or anything like that while killing Sol Regem, he just enjoyed mocking his death. I’m sure some elements of his story may be true, but I can’t trust his tale until it’s cross-referenced. Especially knowing him, he loves to twist the truth into ways he can manipulate people. Either way, as Terry said, whatever Aaravos is going to do, he’s not doing it for love, only hate. He also directed Sol Regem to destroy innocent humans and had a smile on his face doing it. Even if someone had done nothing to him, he has no hesitation killing them.

    • @supremeoverlorde2109
      @supremeoverlorde2109 4 месяца назад +86

      I don't think he was significantly embellishing or twisting the truth, if only because I think him being as hurt as he was fits a core theme of the show. If it's true that Aaravos lost his child in such a horrific way, it means he's a lot like Harrow or the Moonshadow Assassins or anyone else throughout Xadia's history who sought vengeance and perpetuated a cycle of hate. Him being just evil because he likes it flies in the face of everything the series has been saying since season 1.
      I'm more inclined to believe that Aaravos has spent centuries and centuries letting his hatred fester, never moving on or building new authentic relationships due to his sole focus on revenge. And eventually, as he sank deeper into darkness, his capacity for empathy grew smaller. Now, he's at a point where he is comfortable killing for personal gain or using his daughter's death as a manipulation tool.
      It's notable that Viren, too, started out wanting to protect his loved ones, but then eventually reached a point where he was pushing his son to murder a couple of kids. And Claudia has often acted out of love, but also likes dark magic and having power over others a bit too much, becoming willing to stoop to lower and lower lows to get what she wants.
      I think the point is that power and vengeance can be a slippery slope, wearing away at your morals and sense of empathy. As someone used to say in one of my old favorite TV shows --- "Evil isn't born. It's made."

      @skylarfernandez8415 4 месяца назад +17

      I agree. There were many instances in his story that had me questioning its legitimacy. The first one being that he looked like his current form when Leola was a baby. We know Aaravos looked different prior to his status as a Fallen Star, and clearly the story happened before him falling, so why does he look the same? Now, clearly Claudia and Terry wouldn't be able to see what he looked like previously, but we as the viewers can, and I find it odd he still had the same form as the one he has today when we know he looked different.
      The second issue I had was their home. The home and the prison being one and the same I just find odd. Why would you imprison a clearly powerful being who can manipulate things on the outside, and has been proven to be a horrible man overall, in his own home? His home, where he knows every single nook and cranny, and can hide anything he wanted? Why not imprison him in a different place, one which he's unfamiliar with? As far as I remember they only took his cube. Are you telling me this man seriously had nothing else in his humble abode that would be a threat? It just doesn't make sense how in the story, his home and the prison are the same. It doesn't make sense to do that at all.
      Third, he chose to live. I can't imagine a parent, especially one who seemed to love his own child so much, would choose to live. Why did he choose that option? He even asked the others from the cosmic justice to take him instead. He offered himself to die instead. But when actually given the choice to die alongside his daughter, he chooses to live? Why? To enact revenge? Living for the sake of revenge is indeed plausible, but again, he already asked to be taken instead. So, why? What was his reason?
      I don't doubt that Aaravos had a child. And I don't doubt that he loved her in some way. But Aaravos has always seemed also incapable of fully loving to me. He's also an unreliable narrator. He's an unreliable person in general. I don't doubt for one second that Leola was his daughter. But I also think he's not telling the full truth. That he's twisting it. Something is off with his story. And considering there's been mention of Anok Arow, I hope we get to see him in the next season. Especially since he's been brought up quite a few times now. And even more especially since he was also mentioned as having been a witness. Time will only tell though.

I hope they explain that.
    And here’s the interesting fact: Sol Regem was not only a dragon prince but also started this whole conflict. There could be several reasons for this plot hole, probably just Aaravos being an unreliable narrator. I wonder if it wasn't permanent (it seemed implied but I dunno if it was actually said) and perhaps that's why they didn't seem hesitant to kill her?

    The Star Elves Converting living being into magical energy, is that not what Dark Mage do and the first to teach Dark Magic to human was a Star Elves? Like Ziard was shown to convert birds into magical energy to attack the Sun Dragon King.
    It would make sense if other Star Elves know some form of dark magic.

      I think Dark Magic is the way to kill them and that it may be connected to the Star primal source or is an Arcanum of it's own. This is extra evidence but there are dragons called Star Devourer dragons that are of the star primal source in the wiki while I believe they are actually connected to dark magic. I think they are praetors that prey on star creatures and just creatures of primal sources in general.
      I think he might make a spell that can actually destroy physical stars, perhaps a black hole since light can't escape them, or a supernova, even maybe hydrogen starving them with science if Viren can kill thunder, Aaravos can kill the merciful one.

That dark magic is based on a aspect of star magic as Aravos daughter was a star touched elf. Also it was stated in the show that star magic is the strongest primal source and that arravos has mastered every primal magic.
      I mean what if star magic combines every other source and humans trying to copy star magic where they probably needed a star touch to teach them. So they continued to practice till they found that the life of other primal creatures could be used to cast this type of magic this is just theory. If you have the time please share your thoughts.

    OMG, I LOVE your commentary around historical mysticism. I'm seeing the season with a whole new perspective!
    Note, since I see confusion in the fandom: Leola didn't give humans dark magic. She gave them primal magic; the first primal stones. And that's according to the TDP wiki. Aaravos is the one that taught humans dark magic (and, as you pointed out, dark magic is how he manipulates their bodies & dreams). It's probable engineered dark magic to be HIS magic, to pull off his vengeance.
    Also, logically, a young child, described as innocent & beloved by all, wouldn't teach others a type of magic that requires murder of magical creatures to work, let alone use it herself....

    I'm 100% confident that the startouched elves interpretation of the future is wrong, no matter how well they can read the future. You can see it is one of those selffufillinf prophesis from a mile away. Aravors's daughter teach humans magic and gets executed for it, because prophesy says that it was the beggining of a slow chaotic end (for whom? The startouched themselves perhaps? And they read their end as THE end since they think they are ethernal) and Aravos then creates dark magic because of it and starts the chaos. If there was no prophesy nothing would have happened.

    I theorize that Aaravos is capable of killing the other startouched elves with Dark Magic. In the wiki they say Star Devourer dragons are of the Star Arcanum but I personally believe that they may be of the Dark magic Arcanum, but because they consume stars they should be capable of damaging the physical form of dragons. Furthermore Dark Magic has corrupting properties, Claudia's staff is a corrupted form of the Sun Arcanum in it's eclipse like state, I think that Dark Magic is his way to get revenge.
    It's ironic that Leola was killed for giving humans primal magic but it shows that Xadia wanted to have supremacy over humans due to their magical advantages and that it's possible the other Startouched elves would take Callum as a threat due to his primal magic use. It also adds up since Startouch elves like Aaravos are the only people actually connected to multiple Arcanums like Callum. If anything the Dark Magic humans have access to now is far more dangerous than any primal magic due to the cost and the power it wields. Viren was able to kill Thunder with a Unicorn horn, that shows that there are ways that humans and other lower beings can defeat Archdragons and above.
    I thoroughly believe the corrupting ability and magical absorption is what's truly dangerous about Aaravos, he's fallen but i'm curious if that means that he's lost Startouch connection somewhat or if he's more connected to the Dark Primal, but either way I think he has the power to kill the Startouched elves. Furthermore I wonder what ways he could do it, he could be direct and manipulate a Star Devourer dragon, but perhaps he could attempt to make a spell that destroys the physical star, or maybe one that can correlate the mortal body to the physical star in some way.
    Actually I saw the season but I was listening to the video but what if like Callum would be if he used Dark Magic Again, Aaravos was completely filled with Dark Magic, he's fallen because he's completely overcome by darkness.
    I wonder if Luna Tenebris's death was manipulated in obscuring the likely Star Nexus, he predicted her pet's grief, and planned to keep them from becoming time blind.
    The real question is if Leola is actually dead or fallen Like Aaravos, if she's fallen then she could rise again potentially, but if she's gone permanently than Aaravos could attempt a genocide on his own people.
    I wonder if Callum's first primal stone was made by Leola, I wish their were some factions of humans that supported Aaravos more ngl, I feel like he'd have some sorta small cult following, or at least Callum would call out Zubeia and the Dragon's bigotry towards humans in the past but no.

  • @daviemeister3355
    @daviemeister3355 4 месяца назад +14

    I am actually incline to believe some people here in the comments when they say that Aaravos’ story cannot be fully trusted. One thing that I dont know if everyone caught was that Aaravos was the reason her father was dead. The reason why Sol Regem didnt show up to Karim’s rebellion was that Aaravos had possessed the mage rider or Sol Regem himself and took him towards Katolis to destroy.
    If he didn’t invade Katolis, then Viren wouldn’t have a reason to sacrifice his life. It’s more likely that Aaravos played upon the fact that Viren doesn’t want to do dark magic anymore, so he is more likely to sacrifice himself instead of his son or someone else’s heart to beat the dragon. It was intentionally designed such that Claudia would stumble unto Katolis, with her father dead and the Aaravos’ prison conveniently waiting right next to his dead body for her to complete his resurrection.
    So he indirectly killed Claudia’s father, disposed of Sol Regem to remove any witnesses that could tell Claudia that Aaravos sicced him on her father and put Claudia in a vulnerable position for his story to resonate with her.
    Remember Claudia said that she would make her decision upon meeting her father. But Aaravos knew that if she actually met her father, she was likely to move on and no longer want to help Aaravos anymore. So he ensured that they never met by using Sol Regem to destroy Katolis.
    It all makes sense. We forget that Aaravos in the past has orchestrated wars and battles amongst powerful kingdoms and creatures before. We are told this in earlier seasons. This is nothing new for him.
    Even if Aaravos’ story is true, it doesn’t mean that his cause has anything to do with his daughter currently. For someone who understands what it’s like to lose a daughter, he sure didn’t hesitate in intentionally causing a daughter to lose her father.

    • @Mallasify
      @Mallasify 4 месяца назад +2

      I also dont believe Aaravos. Because when Council suggest to die with his daughter he didn't choose that... He let his daughter die while he was just watching?! And thinking about revenge?!
      Loving father would better die with his child on arm than watch...

    • @daviemeister3355
      @daviemeister3355 4 месяца назад +3

      @@Mallasify Exactly you get it. 😁 Although, I don’t think a loving father would sacrifice himself along with his child either. I personally wouldn’t like that option either. Instead, a loving father would fight against the powers that be for both himself and his child to live.
      The moment I heard that BS speech about their twisted idea of ‘mercy’, I would have considered them public enemy #1. Whether Aaravos would actually have the power to defy them and defeat them is a whole different story. So it’s easy to say that I would go against the council, but whether i actually had the power to, is a different story. Especially since the council members are also star-touch elves, who would likely be as powerful as I am, if not more.
      It actually makes me curious as to what their idea of the “Order” is and where it came from? It seems these elves are the reason that humans didn’t know that they could use magic. My theory is that humans always had the ability to use primal magic, like Callum but based on how badly these elves dread humans gaining magic, they seem to believe that humans having magic disrupts some sort of order.
      Whether thats true or it is just BS being spout to make themselves feel better, it is something I do hope we find out in later seasons. Why are they afraid of humans gaining magic? And what kind of magic do they mean? Are they afraid of humans getting dark magic or primal magic? What sort of natural order gets disrupted by that? Is it a civilization thing where humans having magic stagnates our ability to progress technologically or something? That’s a really interesting mystery of the story.
      Either way, the startouch elves judgements are warped and it just doesn’t seem right, no matter what justifications there are. On top of this, Aaravos serves as a potential unreliable narrator where everything we have concluded so far could be false. Perhaps the other startouch elves aren’t actually bad or cruel. Or maybe they are more nuanced than Aaravos believes them to be. I am so excited to find out the truth in book 7.

    You asked a good question about why the Star Touched Elves (STE) havent killed Aaravos for teaching humans dark magic. I think it goes back to the concepts of balance that you mentioned, that humans having magic like elves creates chaos. Aaravos could teach humans Dark magic because it is a system with rules and limitations that maintains balance. You can only cast spells with sacrifices, and the cost of such spells prevents abuses that could destabilize things.
    There is no such cost with arcanums. However, Elves have an innate balance with magic because they are born bound to a single arcanum. They are incapable of learning and casting from other arcanums (except the other STEs, which we now know are basically gods, not regular elves).
    However, as Callum has shown us, humans have no such limitations. Given enough time and effort, humans could learn to cast from all the arcanums and become mortals with the power of gods like the STEs. So basically, what the STEs fear is Callum, and other humans if they are able to do what he has done.

What if the Council is not intervening on Aaravos' actions because all of his schemes and manipulations are actually a way of trying to atone for his daughter's original mistake, and in doing so, maybe he could get her back? What if he's trying to make humans forget about magic by making them commit atrocities with it? We even saw it on Soren, he's one of the first who ever said that maybe magic shouldn't exist at all. What if that was his goal all along, the reason why he gave all of his harbingers as much magical knowledge and power as they desired? To eventually cause the end of magic for humans? Or worse. What if the other Startouch elves are as conniving as he is? What if they are allowing him to cause as much chaos in the mortal world as he wants because, in the end, his wrath and schemes will end up solving the problem his daughter started?

    The thing I keeping thinking when it came to the flashbacks is who telling us the story. Aaravos. He could be lying about the whole thing or refusing to acknowledge what the real wrongs or true story is. Is it all a lie by chance, cause he specifically talking to Claudia and he wants her to emphasize with him. To release him and what better way than a story of a father and daughter?
    I did wonder if his daughter was half star elf and half another race, cause they state that Aaravos can only able to gain a body on earth when his stars align and allow it...than wouldn't his daughter need the same thing? And yet she just there, so was she born on earth?
    Also when they said kill his daughter, did they mean death, or remove her primordial magic? Cause wouldn't that be a form of death to all elves? not being able to do magic and access their specific abilities? If the daughter exist couldn't she be a mortal being? Mortality to a race of being that are immortal (in a way), wouldn't that be consider a form of death as well?
    There are too many questions and not enough answer that can be trusted.

    And we've seen that natural talent can be given to humans, as Callum gained magic of his own, but only after touching the darkness. He had to have that magic within him to give himself something of a light within.

He could easily misinterpret Leola playing with her friends as her teaching them magic. Even if she did teach them something, the question remains what it actually was. We have the already established connection between unicorns and primal stones, so that could well be it. However, both helping her friends to get connected to an arcanum in the same way that Callum did or Leola teaching them dark magic are also viable options.
