With circle hooks you don’t sweep the rod to set the hook. Just reel in at a moderate pace. You won’t gut hook so many and your hook up percentage will go up. I find mono is better for live lining than braid. It is a crazy good bite with 50” fish in the mix.
30# test main line with 40# test fluorocarbon leaders. We don’t break off many. They aren’t leader shy when they are on bunker. You can put the heat on them to turn them from lobster pots and other stuff. We also use large spinning rods for casting and picking up slack. We have caught multiple fish over 40” and a couple over 50” with this gear.
Dude you are slow!!! why do you wait so long to pull that rod after that click ?? That’s why you lose them !!! As soon as you hear that click pull your rod right away !!!! 😢 you need more fishing practice
Gotta let 'em eat it. Unless that line rips off going 100 mph the little tugs at the beginning are the pogies being chased, if you hit right away it will pull it out of the zone. Leave it till it runs, then hit it, Josh did it right.
What pound test leader do you use and what size circles? Thanks
30# and 9/0 for bunker and 3/0 for eels
@@BendItFishing thanks

I'm not sure if you can see the date of the video but it's from 2022, before they were protecting the 2015 year class fish. The slot was 28" to 35"
Well done brother! You guys will be eating like kings for a few days!
Stripers are like snakes lol I caught a lot 26, 28 inches stripers on live bunker and I always wonder how they can eat an adult bunker. 😅
They vacuum it right in!!

It was getting chaser by a schoolie
