58:00 - sums up how I ended up here. Found the show when I moved to a new town and these guys felt like family at a time I didn't know I needed them. Been an earworm for me ever since. Welcome aboard Pablo.
pablo is probably one of the few people who is actually the same in front of the mic/camera as he's in real life. so happy for him to have come back to the lebatard ship.
Good morning yall. Just wanted to say that these past few SBS have been some of your best work Dan. Still wanna see Bomani going in-depth w/Stugotz tho. 😂
@Reese espn messed up not having dan do these interviews like he was supposed to "the art of the interview" think he got like Two in before espn got all woke lol
Wow. My life is the exact same as Pablo’s from childhood through bombing the lsat. Studied for a year nonstop, panic attack bombed the exam. Studied for another whole year and aced it, got into law school and self sabotaged my way right out. Imposter syndrome to the highest degree. I’m glad Pablo found his way. I’m hoping to do the same. One day.
"i wake up every day and I am so glad that I failed the test that I thought would define my entire life" this is rly impactful. i hope im glad one day.
It’s a family…. With these we get to see why each person is so important in Dans life, it’s like each person is something Dan wishes he was more of but in turn it seems to be symbiotic!! Then, one friend is introduced to another friend and it continues to just feed off of itself and grow into this just amazing thing!!! Thanks for sharing it with us Dude!!!
Couple of wordsmiths cutten it up, huh. Love these SBS with the people on the show. Nice to know more about all of y'all, and that we all have the same crap going on inside our heads.
Years ago I thought Dan had something special and kept creating something special… he should get his flowers while he is alive. He should get his acknowledgment that he has used his platform and leverage to help others grow and bring them along the journey. Most people do not do that. Lets be honest people get in good positions and they do not stick their necks out, they do not actively seek to bring others up. So those people who say why talk about dan or think it’s egotistical, are the selfish people who would never do the same . Its simple to read between those lines. Real character is and integrity towards humans, or even your own job endeavors is at a low in society. Thats not even debatable. So keep growing the garden, keep passing it forward, I hope the rest of the guys on the show learn to do similar with their lives.
For every dan and pablo who buck the trend and went into a non-STEM field to achieve their own American Dream there are a lot of us who discarded other passions and went the STEM route. I can totally relate to Dan and his father being angry at dan cause when i mentioned the fine arts to my dad he immediately told me people are born with that talent in effort to dissaude me. To prove that talent is something that can be trained and improved on Ed Sheeren played a recording of the first time he sang. Needless to say it sounded bad and there was nothing that said he was born to be a musician. He worked on it and now hes a world famous musician.
Me to. U tell urself ur a loser everyday an other people r doing fantastical things while I go to work come home go to sleep an do it all again I had a gf for 13 years but I loved my drugs to much to leave em behind an take her hand So I lost what still feels like everything 5 years later I miss friends an the smell of a woman after they get out of the shower Don't b like me
Since Pablo got his start as a stats intern at SI, this feels like the appropriate place to put this. So here it is, your in-comment Stat of the Day! **Mike Schur voice** Thank you for turning on original sound so that I can hear the music. This stat is courtesy of StatMuse and Basketball Reference, because I cite my sources like a professional. Dan, my beloved Sacramento Kings play the Golden State Warriors tonight, looking to stave off elimination and once again LIGHT THE MOTHERF*CKING BEAM. We all know the Warriors: Steph, Klay, Draymond, the remnants of Jordan Poole after Draymond punched him. But one oft forgotten Warrior: Kevon Looney. And you can see why: he's played 153 minutes total this postseason, which is tied for 55th amongst all players. Who's he tied with? Ja Morant, who's only played in four of Memphis' five games. Mikal Bridges and Spencer Dinwiddie have played more minutes for the Nets than Looney, despite being swept; and Looney's played over a quarter's less worth of minutes than the likes of Norm Powell, Caris LeVert, and Stugotz's beloved Jordan Hart (err, Josh Hart). He's 11th in minutes even just among centers. And yet, despite all of this, Kevon Looney is leading all players in the playoffs in rebounds. He has 72 of them, which is four more than closest competitor Anthony Davis, ten more than Nikola Jokic, 26 more than Stu's beloved Al Horford, and 29 more than Edrice Adebayo. That, is your stat of the day presented by our soulmates at Draft Kings; bet responsibly.
Being anxious to provide for your daughter...when you are a Harvard graduate and are on freaking ESPN all the time, call me an asshole but this kind of sounds a little too much for me. I get that there always is pressure but how do you think mere mortal people manage with 10 times less income ?
Dan has a coaching tree. Bomani, Pablo, Mina, Dominique, Sarah Spain, Katie, etc... When I see these people I almost immediately think of Dan. 🎉
Forgot about Izzie

Dan convinced me to quit my job...take a small pay cut and go do the thing I enjoy. Taught me to quit tying my "success" to titles and income.
Love this comment. Hope you are loving what you do.
This is awesome, Dave. Wish I had the same cojones.

I just love the new sbs. Glad to see Pablo and hear that laugh. This show makes me happy
I absolutely love the addition of Pablo to the show. He's going to be the MVP this year.
Thank you and all the work you guys do. I think this episode is the definition of how we all fell in love with the show.
Man. What an episode. 👏👏👏👏
Another great sob beach session Dan! We want the Stugotz session next!
Dear lord, Pablo’s description of his experience preparing for the LSAT really hit home 😳
💯 had a very similar experience (just not the lsat) senior yr at the U.
Dan’s quote at 33:15 was incredible.
Love these SBS. Would love to see with the rest of the crew, also get Tony Kornhiesor would be great.
I liked when LeBatard was like I’m him with the pen…🧐

This tortured writer needed this session! Thank you gentlemen
this one made me more emotional than the others for some reason.

Dan is correct. Wisconsin is no place for someone with an appetite for cholesterol.
