- This cockpit video was shot with the aid of the Transport Division at the Wing F7 Såtenäs in Sweden during their display at the Military Air Show at Malmen 2012.
The total duration of the video is about 43 minutes, so bring out a beer, or some non-alchohol alternative beverage, and enjoy this cockpit video from one of the Swedish
C-130, or TP 84 Hercules as it is called in Sweden!
And... don't be afraid to subscribe! :-))

Here is another interesting cockpit video of the C-130. • BEST FOOTAGE EVER!!! C...
I loved this video. I was a EC130 ABCCC flying status crew chief starting in 1987. Being in the flight deck on take off and landings before I notice the crew was very professional. I could tell they where performing ops checks also did a end of runway runup prior to taking off. Pilot and Copilot looked so young. Not going to say which ones but some of these comments are nuts. I would fly around the world with these men. Thanks for the video.
Wow! Great job! I love the sound of C-130 engines
Those procedures are charming, thats the main reason why we love Hercules. I remember standing behind close to the engines when pilots would put from "run" to ground idle, engines would clearly pant making a lovely music. Thanks for the answer!!!
I believe Sweden and New Zealand operate the oldest C-130Hs currently in service. Those two countries were one of the first customers for the H model in 1965/1966. Two of the Swedish examples have been retired from service.
Thanks for the video and your service.
Hi Joe and Ron! Well, regarding the audio... I agree. I would've loved to record the communication between the crew members on the C-130! At the time I had not time for this. Good idea though! :-) Regarding the camera angle, I don't agree. We needed to se the pilot and his face when operating the C-130, as well as as much of the panel as possible. This was a good compromise I think. I would appreciate your opinions on a better placing of the camera in a situation like this, really. Any thoughts? Take care! /Tille, TeamM
Amazing how fast the take-offs and landings are.
i never envisioned that the cockpit would be so strange looking compared to what we see in the airline cockpits.
In 1974 flew on a C-130 from Okinawa, Japan To Iwakuni, Japan. The bird flapped its wings like a bird!!!! Was an interesting flight Marine Corps
Nice to see there's no "passengers" in that cockpit. They all have a job to do :-)
AWESOME! Thanks for sharing. Kudos to the flight crew!
Video is fantastic.
very good video!the pilot is ..all the money!!
I always wondered how the look & feel of a Herc was fromout the cockpit. Nice video! Liked!
I was a crew chief c- 130B model Mactan rpi, Tansanute AFB Vietnam,Sewart AFB TENN. Little RockAFB. Arkansaw. Was engin Run Sertified .Loved the, C130. Have a lot of good memories. If i were 19 again I would sign up tomorrow.THANKS; For sharing.
Looks like a complete pleasure to fly!
excellent vid dude!! please keep posting more. the landing was very smooth, almost unnoticed.
every time I see it, I enjoy it very much. I just subscribed ok
Great video! Engine sound, plus wind noise, great. I need to get a recurrent in YTB because the older "Reply" link no longer shows on some comments. But for the comment on the "small" steering wheel to steer a large airplane, the wheel has been used from large airplanes to small corporate jets for decades. The nose gear turns far a greater ratio than the steering wheel turns, plus hydraulics involved, makes it work. Most large aircraft have some interconnection for steering with the rudders pedals, but it's normally limited to under 10 degrees L/R of center (for straight taxing, or takeoff and landings), whereas the steering wheel turning radius can be as much as 75 degrees L/R of center on some aircraft.
He selected "Low Speed Ground Idle". Standard procedure for these engines is to idle for 2 minutes in low speed before shutdown, so most crews just select it as they taxi in since low speed is still enough torque to move the aircraft on the ground.
You do that with rudder, the crosswind correction goes in with aileron, so on take off you deploy full aileron into the wind (Coming from left, raise the left), and as the ailerons become effective, you slowly take it out
I love your videos, keep up updating please you have a new fan here :)
AWESOME video...
Its not at Malmen. The airforce base is called Melmen, its at Linkoping
Awesome video!!
Nifty video, thank you!
They only use the small wheel to steer for about halfway down the runway then he takes the main yoke to control aircraft, and yes the guy in the third seat is a flight engineer mate.
Karminou: Thanks for the nice comment. I will certainly keep updating with aviation videos. Take care! /Tille, TeamM
Foxdie is correct, but also there is structural integrity to consider as a Hercules is pressurised and the forces on a single screen would probably be to great. Bear in mind that Hercules being a military aircraft are quite often shot at so you wouldn't want to lose the windscreen from a sinle strike.
Please, you two guys, I beg you, leave the politics and rude comments out of this channel. If you do not agree with any comments, well that's OK of course, but this area is not a place for political or rude discussions. I will not comment any further on this thread.
Excellent video, thank you for sharing.
The camera placement is good. Additional cameras would be interesting, and offer different view-points.
Great flight! Tanks ;-)
great video!!
Hi Martin R. Well, the crosswind that day was rather tough, coming in from the port side of the airplane (left). I hope this gave you an explanation to your question. /Tille, TeamM
i've met these ppl irl :) In school we have days when you can try different jobs, so me and my friend went to såtenäs (F7), we were able to "fly" the simulator that the pilots "fly" daily, it was very interesting :)
Good video
OMG! Its bebopvox is the pilots seat! He said he works on c-130's
Cute little pilot! Where is his Raybans?
Cool vid. 100 years from now kids will watch this video and say, "people actually flew airplanes?!"
Hey.......it looks easy!.....that is, after several thousand hours of flying experience!
Awesome!! Headset audio would be nice.
Thanks for sharing! At 8:53, as the t/o thrust was set, why was the pilot´s initial input to the left? Was it due to a crosswind or perhaps a p-factor correction?
Yes it does. Great channel, I am subscribed.
A friend of mine flies C-130s for Denmark.
Those flight instruments look fairly ancient there....I don't even see the basic 6 pack...That looks like your basic old school seat of the pants flying! Too cool.
nice video
Gloves are worn by military to avoid contamination of instruments and keep them clean of oils etc.
No the gloves are nomex as the flight suit flame retardent for crew safety. I know because I was a flight engineer for many years WC 130 H and C141Bs.
Paul Adams and mandatory in my day.
Hay guy's I have a 2 pt.question the small wheel the pilot uses to steer the noise wheel with is it very difficult to steer an aircraft that large with such a small steering wheel? second the guy in the middle seat is he a flight engineer or something ? Thanks I enjoy your video's !
Admirable!!!!!
It looks like a VFR (visual flight rules) flight. If you notice the pilot is glancing at the instrument panel and at the same time keeping his eyes outside. You can't be looking at the panels all the time specially when you are flying that low. You have to watch out for other airplanes in the area and obstructions. Pilots will rely solely on instruments at night or in poor visibility or IFR (instrument flight rules).
Does, during taxi, pilot set throttle in reverse to decelerate the aircraft?
What ratings/certifications do you have to have to fly this plane?
Thanks for comment ronALd, and you are most welcome! This year we mounted GoPro cameras inside the following airplanes: Extra-300 (RJFs) during display, Saab Safir, Sk-61 Scottish Bulldog, Pitts S2C, Sukhoi SU 29 (wint tip and cockpit) and Pilatus B4 (wing tip and cockpit) during air display, and some hostorical and military helicopters. All the video footage will be used in our upcoming air show DVD "Air Show Special 2013". Take care! /Tille, TeamM
Har svenska militären någon C-130 eller liknande i beredskap? Med vänlig hälsning.
what did just the copilot do to the engines at 40:02???, changes the sound.
Sounds good MrSISPUP!
Man I would love to fly in one of these babies, along with the C-5. Any military plane for that matter!
As the taxi and occasionally pull back power it sounds like the engine pitch increases. Is that because the engines run at a constant power load and simply change prop pitch?
Yes. I was a C-130 mechanic in the early 60s.
Thanks for serving but one cam? No dialogue and imperceptible view?
Hello sir and all the others, does somebody maybe know why they are wearing gloves ? Is it usual ?
Is the crank on the left side next to the yoke for the nosewheel? Instead of using the pedals for ground control?
That's actually called a tiler, and it's present on most multi engine aircrafts.
No checklist handling?
Crosswinds on takeoff are countered by ailerons. P factor correction is all rudder.
why did the pilot look like he was about to lose his lunch throughout the flight?
I always wondered how do they steer the aircraft on the ground, the yoke operates the wings right ?
Super101Hero they use the rudder pedals. Same place the pedals on a car would be
C-130 = Bugsmasher. Its like flying a Cesna 180 when you normally fly a 777.
Which model is it ?
Hi Hakim,
Well, that's an interesting question. Anybody that wishes to elaborate on this? Maybe the pilot in the video will answser himself... Who knows... /Tille, TeamM
Hi Hakim Baraja,
Sorry, but I cannot understand you question. Please, rephrase. /Tille, TeamM
So if anyone makes any revenue for these kind of videos, do they belong to YT or DoD?!?v (They did make it while on the job) Asking for a friend.
where are the Ray-Ban?
brad friedel sitting in the back?
no music? at least a conversation
Ask the manufacturer.
I never knew that the c-130 had a steering wheel for taxing I thought it was the rudders or something
I was asking him what he was saying. I didn't understand and it sounded kinda rude.
I flew the Hercules C130 for 18 years and I loved that old bird. Too bad, the pilot didn't kill three engines and perform a one engine landing, now that's a lot of fun. It's a shame you didn't have a Y-connector you could have put on the co-pilot's/FO's headset cord for the audio between the crew. I trained many a C-130 Jock on how to fly this plane under many different scenarios. Fin stalls, wind shear, engine outs, and many other training scenarios were interesting to watch even experienced pilot's fly. You should have also put the camera behind the co-pilot/FO facing forward with a partial view of the crew, as well as a view of the instrument panel, throttle quadrant, and windshield.
I realize you may have unprepared for this ride, but your set-up was extremely poor for this long of a video.
Sir, I thank you sincerely for your very insightful comments! I would have loved to record the comm. But this was an opportunity for us which arised with very short notice. Regarding the positioning of the camera, well... I wanted to see the faces of the crew, and if we where to do an interview with the pilot, a shot of him and his crew as a b-roll would be a perfect shot for us. We only had this one opportunity to film this and, to be honest, if I were to do it again, I would place the camera in the same position.
But, again, I'm so glad to read your comments. And I truly respect them, as well as your professional background.
This footage was also used in our DVD-series "Air Show Special", and you can purchase it at www.teamm.se.
As you suggested got a beer
Fermin B F: Thanks for your comments and review of the video. Well, regarding more uploads, we have tons of aviation video stuff not used in any production yet! I'll se what I can do to produce some more videos for you. In the mean time, here is a link to my facebook page, onto which I uploaded a video i filmed during our video editing of our upcoming "Air Show Special 2014" DVD. facebook.com/video.php?v=984218664924862&pnref=story
Copilot puking?
it's scary to see the pilot let go the throttle and yoke at the same time when wheels down.
So, what the point?
the truck of the heavens...
Disfruto del sonido de los motores, una sonata en expo
Nice...
No audio apart from engine sounds and daft camera angle. Crap. Have seen better.... lucky pilot though!
The pilot can but the aircraft brakes are used when taxiing in and around other aircraft and parking.
Nicaragua derribo uno con un misil SAM.7..!CAYO en Patuca Honduras.
the pilot capt. looks like kevin cosner lol
WOW! I certainly wasn't expecting the big crash at the end! What a surprise ending!

존나 카리스마 있네!
Very fast for a taxi, not???
Why are they wearing gloves? Commercial pilots never wear gloves, hence my question :)
jeffrey haitsma because they don't fly in combat or perform tactical maneuvers
Good plane too
Engine run at 7:15.
Agora é o KC 390 da Embraer
Quisiera un vuelo bautismo
det tycker jag ;)
WTF are you talking about?
We don't need der face to b watch
