Seriously man? Dane you made out great. Throw them up on the wall for $59.99. with gig bag. Anybody who buys one of those guitars is not going to be shredding up in the 12th to 14th frets anyway. It would be a $60 guitar to play cowboy chords on all day and have some fun and not worry about having to break it. You'll make your money back easily.
hm,nice idea but i dont think he like to help kids,he said he want 50 bucks for each,he said its bad guitar and he buy 30 bucks each, but he want sel it even he know its bad guitars, just like keith urban lol
Hello Dane. I have the “As Seen On TV” Roy Clark acoustic guitar, (with picks, a strap and a pitch pipe) that was given to me by a senior gentleman that was an employee at a Walmart. We became good friends and he remembered that I mentioned that I play guitar. He brought it one day when I went back to Walmart. He showed it to me and he said, “it”s yours now. I can’t play the damn thing.” That was 25 + years ago. It’s plays good, compared to what you have there. 😆 By the way, you’ll probably get your money back with the small practice amps.
I dunno man, seems to me like you could spot level the one fret that's bad and have a decent guitar. The main issue with all cheap guitars from that era was the frets. This was really common for sub $500 acoustics from the late 20-teens. You could get real lucky and only have to repair one fret or you may end up doing several but in the end once that's done that's still a $100-150 guitar. GuitarCenter seems think they're worth around $200. You should come out smelling like a rose on this deal, stop giving negative vibes!
I bought one of these back in the day. I saw it on late night TV . It came with a DVD set of DVDs of instructions on "how to play " of different songs. The real reason I purchased it. I noodle on it around the house . I enjoy it ! There was an electric also available. Thanks for the review. First review I have ever seen .
I got 20 small 10 watt Keith Urban amps from an Unclaimed Freight place in Peoria, Il. I paid 9.99 for each and sold them for 35.00 each. I also got some larger ones for 19.99 each and sold them for 45.00. They had reverb in them. I got one or two that had Randy Jacksons name on the amps too. That was back in 2017.
They look pretty good, a little fretwork and hydration, tune one standard, one downtuned and one open G, would be great to have around the house, no worries about dings.
When my mom bough my first guitar, she said, 'buy one that you always will want to always play'. She bought me a Carvin V220!! I miss that guitar. I once got an Estaban guitar. I had it for about a week. I now have Carvins, Schecters, Ibanez, Godin, Seagull, and other quality instruments. The only way to go is what works for you.
I bought one of his electrics for $50 at a pawn shop. It has a set neck with binding. It actually played decently, but I lowered the nut slots and did a bit of spot leveling on it. The tuners have a lot of slop. That’s the main upgrade they need.
Most likely they did not show Keith the actual production guitars. They showed him prototypes and/or guitars made with more care and QC. Then rolled out cheaper, more quickly made guitars to the public.
No you didnt waste money a few mins with a fret rocker and small and fret eraser its all good even if you want to that ,I just bought a kramer guitar from ams american musical supply it was roughly 800 bucks new and and I had 2 high frets ended up doing alittle work but its alright ,pretty neat guitars really
Congrats on your new guitars....flaws are minor...nothiing to be shocked of...just like any new instrument we purchase....we do some adjusments on it to fit to how we feel during play....goodluck...God bless
hey Dane actually those are not CDs Those are DVDs, you put them into a Blu-ray player or something that can play DVDs and it’s a video of Keith Urban teaching you how to play the guitar and a particular song, I think each DVD has like a lesson of one or two songs on it that shows you how to play it all the way through even the guitar solo I think, not exactly for beginners in my opinion. Just thought I’d let you know.
@ZIMMSGUITARS Those guitars sound excellent. Sounds like you took that offer to pay $90 for all 3 guitars. The tone on all 3 guitars sound excellent. I'm surprised all 3 guitars survived in the boxes and thank goodness they survived these past 7 years.
It is an unfair assessment to any guitar that are not property set up! All brand new guitars need to set up its trust rod and adjust the action. Unlike those bought from the music shops. Music shop usually set up their guitars before they put on display. I do not mind owning these guitars the trust rod and action are adjustable and is not a manufacture defects
My opinion all they need is a good setup and fret job. You can get your money out of them and make a profit. They look great and for the price worth every penny. I've bought a $500 acoustic electric name brand guitar that needed a fret job at the 14th fret. I was highly pissed that happened after less than 30 days. Because it didn't do that at the shop. The shop took care of it, but in hindsight, I should have returned it.
Dude you should be able to sell those quick for like 65 each, another 20 for the amps. They are accoustic electrics in nice shape with a gig bag, I'd buy one for 65!
In spite of it being a cheap infomercial guitar, I'd guess that it's still better than the early 1970's acoustic from Sears catalog I started with back then.
i used to see these at goodwills all over town along with the randy jackson ones (the electrics) couple of years ago, ppl used to buy them turn around and intermediately post them on craigs or market place thinking they were going to make money off of them, they totally dropped the ball by not making randy's basses.
Those are nice enough. Condition the necks. You’re certainly not gonna sell them by saying they are terrible. Lol. They sound good. $60 each. $20 on the amps and you’re in business. Also those are instructional DVDs. In reality Keith offered an amazing deal. Those guitars are designed to get people playing Cowboy chords.
I bought a Randy Jackson guitar about 16 years ago and I had to do fret work on it, plus I re-shaved the braces, replaced the nut & saddle with GraphTech saddles, and it sounds like a million bucks now.
I have a purple Randy Jackson "branded" acoustic that my wife gifted me on my birthday (it's sad that I can't remember which birthday, lol). It was horrible. The action was extremely high and had severe fret sprouts. The fretboard was very dry, hence the fret sprouts, and the neck had too much relief, hence the high action. I tried to make the adjustments to the truss rod, but it was almost maxed out. After several passes of increasing and decreasing the relief, I managed to make it playable. I cleaned and conditioned the fretboard, levelled, filed and polished the frets and put on some D'Addario strings. As I previously said, it is playable.
Keith Urban doesn't care, and neither does HSN. They made their money from from people, and that's what matters. My mother-in-law bought two of these from my nieces. One smashed hers to make a RUclips video, and the other is collecting dust in a basement. And she said that's where it'll stay, because she's playing a much better one.
Finish flaw you could probably sand out and polish. Cheap guitar, not surprising there would be a neck problem over 7 years. Fix the frets; should be stable. I’d say $60 easy, maybe more. Amps should easily be worth $30 each. I’d say you did well.
The only downside to this situation: if the guitar is semi-garbage, you may totally scare off the new player. I myself started playing guitar around 1970, and quit soon thereafter. Started/quit guitar 3 or 4 times.....crappy guitars, wouldn't tune, action that could require to the local E.R. to stop the bleeding.... Then my grandfather bought me a Japanese "Heit" brand guitar. Been playing(poorly!)ever since. Give yours to a school or church....
Playing poorly? Can't blame much of that on my equipment...... So just check the guitar before you give it to somebody..... You are only invested wall-hanger $$$$; not much to lose.
If they will stay in tune and are playable, you could double your money and give some kid with not much money a guitar and amp for $60. I would've jumped on that when I was a kid with not much money. Back then $60 might get you a railroad tie with barbed wire on it. And your dad complained this rest of your life that he spent a bunch of money and you didn't stick to it.
I think they'll play with more work than they are probably worth brand new. That said, are they better as fixed gifts. The amp & gig bag might get a return. But the hard part is whether to part them out as a player pack for items or keep them together as a fret & level ? There might be a truss rod adjustment that might cure where what seemed to be a fret out high/low fret that is a single location on each guitar ? Sometimes we do things for saving the good out of the bones of a guitar. These are 7 year old guitars, never unboxed. I ended up with a pre-owned Ovation Applause that had it's share of issues. I took my time with it, but it plays quite well today. I bought it Oct 2019, under $ 200, I never expected it to be a $ 500+ acoustic electric, but with enough work to understand what I needed to fix, I had to learn as a 1st timer, the issues are at least compensated for to arrive at a guitar I wouldn't resell as my personal daily player of an acoustic and that fell into place a couple/few years into my ownership. I'd break out a truss rod wrench and see if I could get rid of the fret buzz for that one problem area with a loosen & tightening process. Eyeballing the neck never really took the place of actually using the straight edge and adjustment process. My eyeballing is relatively close for accuracy, but it's not that good that the fretboard ruler wasn't more accurate for making sure it was flat. Just as a fret rocker is going to be better for determining the high vs level vs low frets. String height action gauge being the 3rd tool that will help you determine. As for profitable ? If these guitars haven't sold in 7 years, the market, the economics of that has sailed I think. Are we staring 2024 & guitar market has dried up from a 2020-2022ish pandemic frenzy when the guitar industry had it's best run for inflation ?
You and Dan Wexler could be brothers🤣 Not sure if doing a fret level to kill the buzz would be worth the time. Ive done a couple and they seem to stay playable....but its Chinese junk, what can ya do
I have seen Gibson and Martins that don't measure up also. I have played both that fret out. It would be a good guitar for a student or a person wanting to learn to set up guitars or become a luthier.
The fret work level & crown. Also the fretboards appear to be dry as well... LOL I married a youngee woman however I'm 60 & would rather have a CD than a record which doesn't allow you to hear the lowest notes. Tapes which stretch out & Downloads which can be wiped out, especially since both N Korea & primarily Russia have threatened to cut the under water cables for the Internet 🛜 as well as hack & wipe out stored Data... CD'S are my favorite. Yeah my wife and I saw the Keith Urban guitars at Walmart and it made me laugh... You could probably get $35 s piece for the guitars each once fixed easily. Or $70 for the Kit a piece once the guitars are fixed. Cheers 🍻🥃🥃🎸🎵🎶🎶🎶
Here is the problem that I bet you havent noticed yet. The tops on those are so thin that any vigorous strumming flexes the top and throws it badly out of tune.
It's possible, Dane, that one or more of these relics has accidentally aged into viability during the 7 years they were sitting around in their boxes. Could be they're actually worthwhile now. Hope that's the case, because if so, you could recoup on the guitars alone!
I think you got a great chance on recoup on your money on the amps and guitar bags.. I bought a orangewood for 190 and had the same string buzz on high e string. their claims on prof. setup is a sales gimmick. sad but most all are made in china..
Well, looking at your YT stats that we can see... You're lookin' good for a few grand for the unboxing video, lol $30 for each of the 10Watt "collectable" Keith Urban bedroom amps, and at least 20K on the "3 fret jobs-in-one" video and then you will have the "Highly Collectable" Red "white" and blue matched set of the world's only working, Complete Set of "NOS, 2017 Keith Urban, "American Patriot" Double Autographed set of guitars" (batteries included!) Since you know Keith it should be no sweat to get him to sign the headstock or sign right above the factory sig on the back. He'll love this concept, and imagine how much the value of the 2017s will rise when you two release the New and Improved line for 2025! LOLin' This can only end with this being THE BEST $90 Investment EVER. You guys are gonna be Phukin' RICH!
Zim everything you said was true Thank goodness the strings full stretched out and.tuned to full tenchen. All Chinese strings can stretchy. Then to the storage seams have been not to changing in temperature. But some as you have fret sprout. All we all know. Lack of proper.wood.aging. is the biggest instrument problem. Not the only but key. That's why they are trying to get out of using wood. You did well but they will never be regular gig instruments. If used occasionally not left under full tenchem.for long periods in tenp control environment they will last. Fingerboard.oiling. And yes i have rescued some Estabons Only inlaided. Models. Even in the ads on tv you could hear brassy and radely they sounded. I have yet to see one that did need a make over setup. Or worst. But with extra care and only played ounce in a while. Plus everything i said they will last. There like people born hemophilia. As they bruse snd damage easily. But i am justntrying to save what i can.
I have only had experience with their electrics and they were not horrible. They need the usual set ups, some fret work, neck adjustment etc inexpensive guitar seem to need right out of the box. They can be decent players when properly fixed. I have gotten a few for free fixed them up and given them away after. I do not do acoustic guitars I can pretty much set up and make an electric work well but acoustics just are something I avoid.
I'd gladly give you your money back on them. 30 bucks, and a light fret job, and some kid would be thrilled. As far as the C Ds go I still play them, they are far from useless, even though I prefer my vinal collection.
You did okay. You should easily double your money. Sell the guitars as Chris Urban signature guitars. Maybe they are collector items for Urban fans. They are cool wall hangers.
what a bargain - id be putting them cd tins up on ebay, the amps could be given with the guitars all you have to do is tap in or level each of the high frets and oil the fretboards surley some one would love a Keith Urban guitar pack, well him Mom might anyways. You should easily triple your investment here.
November 2, 2024. Plenty of time to wrap each guitar with the DVD'S and have Keith gift them with you to someone who watches your videos. Maybe Rick Beato can arrange the historic event.
Keith is a good guy. I blame the makers! However, he should've had quality control in place. I guess he was a "Stupid Boy", which was written by my friend Dave Berg. That song actually began as "Stupid Girl". Ha! You'll make your money back Dane just because it came from you. :)
Imagine if they built these guitars today. The fretboard and neck could be heat-treated to remove stability and movement problems. I don't know if those guitars have truss rods as they are, but they almost certainly would have them today. In short, these would probably be decent buys if made with current processes.
I remember seeing those on the shopping network, and they were mostly cool looking guitars to bad they don't play as well as they look .I guess I'm glad I never took the plunge and bought one.
I will never again buy a guitar and assume it's good to go. Not without having a luthier go over it. Those $30 guitars had a bad fret or two? A guitar mechanic could knock those out in no time. Plug them in.
Exactly.
You could always donate the guitars to a high school in Mesa, if they still have music classes.
And get a tax deduction!

Maybe ya got good deal wood has been drying in box a couple years low tension. Cant go lower than 30 each.
Dane, what did you think about Ozzie’s induction?
iT WAS COOL!!
The finish in them is horrible and the fret board is junk.
The finish has a low drag coefficient of 0.26 if that helps 😊
Some nice blue plywood there
As long as you make your money back, the only thing wasted might be your time. But it’s all about the journey right..? 🤘🏼
PS, Kieth Urban is Already rich... Just Sayin'😇
He should apologize for his music first.
Music? His artistic license has been revoked 😊
Zim everything you said was true
Thank goodness the strings full stretched out and.tuned to full tenchen.
And yes i have rescued some Estabons
Only inlaided. Models. Even in the ads on tv you could hear brassy and radely they sounded. I have yet to see one that did need a make over setup. Or worst. But with extra care and only played ounce in a while. Plus everything i said they will last.
There like people born hemophilia.
As they bruse snd damage easily.
But i am justntrying to save what i can.
i say smash all the guitars and make a video calling out keith urban!! u can get more than$90 bucks out of the 3 amps and 3 gig bags
The amp works ok for what they are. My wife bought one for herself. I can’t get it in tuned for her. So now she uses my Washburn d10s.
Dude!!! I live in Mesa!!! Where are you located?
Mesa boogie of course 😊
Still a great buy for 90 bucks. Give 'em a quick setup donate 'em to a school music program or kids hanging out at the store!
No effects loop on on the amp you definitely got ripped off. Send them back!
They have a built in circle back facility straight to the Home Shopping Network
You just need a good luthier to fix them.
I bought two rogue basses in the early 90's for 99.00 for teaching guitars. they both still function and are solid low budget instruments.
Set them up. Most guys on the tube setup their purchases happily!
This would be a most miserable setup
I'd gladly give you your money back on them. 30 bucks, and a light fret job, and some kid would be thrilled. As far as the C Ds go I still play them, they are far from useless, even though I prefer my vinal collection.
You did okay. You should easily double your money. Sell the guitars as Chris Urban signature guitars. Maybe they are collector items for Urban fans. They are cool wall hangers.
Just level that one dodgy fret. Most folks that buy that are mostly only going to play the cowboy chords anyway.
The guitars like dean guitars, the natural looks the best, good deal for the price,
Why ask me? I've wasted $90 on dumber things...
Haha. Me too. Like a slot machine.
@@michaelsine5586 wanted to comment the same 😂
Seems like a tiny business risk for a fun little video. Give it a tremolo lol. Happy Halloween 🎃
what a bargain - id be putting them cd tins up on ebay, the amps could be given with the guitars all you have to do is tap in or level each of the high frets and oil the fretboards surley some one would love a Keith Urban guitar pack, well him Mom might anyways. You should easily triple your investment here.
Perfect guitar to take on camping trips and play 4 chord wonders around a fire.
Then use it for firewood 😊
You did pretty good Dane! Even if you sell them at a ridiculously low price of $100 you will make a good profit.
For everyone commenting Major Zimm is very proficient in setting up guitars , you can roll a turd in glitter but it will always be a turd
Make your money back off the amps at 30 each and maybe donate the guitars to a local schools music program.
Great for kids to learn on,especially if they can't afford to buy a expensive one😉😊👍
So you're telling me poor kids dressed in rags should play substandard musical instruments 😮
Any left handed guitars????
No they just feel like your playing a left handed guitar 😊
...maybe can use for alternate tunings....Urban OWES !
Think they alternate tune by their own volition 😊
@@steveoswin6084 hahahahahaha.....
November 2, 2024. Plenty of time to wrap each guitar with the DVD'S and have Keith gift them with you to someone who watches your videos. Maybe Rick Beato can arrange the historic event.
Imagination is a wonderful thing 😂
Keith is a good guy. I blame the makers! However, he should've had quality control in place. I guess he was a "Stupid Boy", which was written by my friend Dave Berg. That song actually began as "Stupid Girl". Ha! You'll make your money back Dane just because it came from you. :)
Sell em for a hundred dollars a piece and you tripled your profit
You are a wise sage, if everyone had your fiscal prowess ,we would all be wealthy and successful 😊
Imagine if they built these guitars today. The fretboard and neck could be heat-treated to remove stability and movement problems. I don't know if those guitars have truss rods as they are, but they almost certainly would have them today. In short, these would probably be decent buys if made with current processes.
They have truss rods
@@ZIMMSGUITARS Most excellent! 👍
Sounds like you are talking about a medieval lute or something ? not something slapped together a decade ago.
I remember seeing those on the shopping network, and they were mostly cool looking guitars to bad they don't play as well as they look .I guess I'm glad I never took the plunge and bought one.
You dodged the bullet ,I thank you for your service 😊
All seems to AV the same issue around the 12 th frett,I'd donate to schools after a quick frett dress
Do a level and crown and sell them with the amp for 120$
Ive played an electric keith urban guitar..it was garbage also...he scammed people..
I will never again buy a guitar and assume it's good to go. Not without having a luthier go over it. Those $30 guitars had a bad fret or two? A guitar mechanic could knock those out in no time. Plug them in.
