      The Jags have to be one of the three worst teams in the league right now, there is nothing "frisky" about them. Completely unclutch, coaches that are more than likely to be fired if this goes on too much longer, a QB that has lost whatever bit of promise that he once had...this team hasn't won a regular season game in 10 straight attempts going back to last year, and it feels increasingly like the Etienne fumble at the goal line not only blew the game to Miami, but blew their season as well.
      Realistically I think they're probably better than the miserable excuses for product that Miami and NE are trotting out right now and I can see them being better than a Rudolph-led Titans team, but the team has not shown that they would be capable of beating anyone else this year, at all.

      @@Inbal_Feuchtwanger
      This is a silly response. Weak teams surprise good team every so often, that’s just how the NFL is. But weak teams don’t win consistently! The Vikings currently have the best resume out of every team in the NFL. What’s the point of a weekly power ranking if you disregard consistent results? We are NOT talking about the Raiders upsetting the Ravens in week 2. We are talking about the Vikings destroying the Giants on the road, beating a relatively healthy 49ers, blowing out the Texans and going into Green Bay and winning. No other team currently has comparable results!

    • @Inbal_Feuchtwanger
      @Inbal_Feuchtwanger Месяц назад +6

      @@CupOfJoe91 Again, its clear his position is that they are performing above their relative strength. You might disagree with his rankings, but you arnt just looking at who beat who when you do power rankings. You could just as easily have asked why he had the 1-2 SF 49ers as one of the best teams in the NFL when their performance suggested they are not a top team. That just isnt what a power rankings is though.

      You’re kinda making my point for me. This is a WEEKLY power ranking. Even if your argument is that a team is playing above their strength…that still means they are playing at a higher level than the competition for that week! So they should be ranked accordingly for said week!
      And guess what…if they end up playing bad later…you can just lower them the following week! The current level of the Vikings play is easily top 3 if not best in the league. So having them at 6th for this week is BS!

    I think folks have still got the Darnold thing and Vikes thing backwards. I'd suggest that we're watching their floor, not their ceiling.
    He is only 4 weeks in and should only get better as the playbook becomes more intuitive (still a couple of delay of games), and he has more time building his connections with Jefferson, Addison, Jones (he turned the wrong way on that sack play), and soon Hockenson.
    Contrast that to Love who is now in his 5th year in this set up and scheme, or 3rd season for Purdy etc.
    The defence should continue to improve too. Folks overlook that there are 10-12 new players in the defensive rotation, that did not know each other, the Vikes incumbents, or the Flores scheme 4 months ago. They also should only get better as they spend more time together and build combinations, and Turner progresses.

    • @ovoj5631

      @robe2504 Месяц назад

      @@ovoj5631 You never know when a team will have an off day or just hit someone else on a heater, but isn't it just logical that you would expect new players to just improve steadily throughout the season?
      Isn't that what you expect of Jayden Daniels, and Caleb Williams, as they get more familiar with the playbook and teams, or the Ravens as Lamar and King Henry play together more? Isn't that we saw from Jordan Love last season, as he battled through his first 8 games, then started to play more consistently, albeit as the schedule lightened up?
      So why wouldn't you expect Sam to get better with more time with his new WRs, and same for overhauled D?
      Tbh, I could easily see them going 11-0 or 12-0 with their current schedule. I think they'll slaughter the Jets, who might be worse than the Giants.

    I'm usually one of those annoying types who mostly complain, but now I'll step out of character for a moment:
    I really appreciate that the upgrades and downgrades are limited to about +/-5. There are a ton of power rankings that move teams up by +11 or down by - - 12 every week, which I think is total nonsense. If you have a basic understanding of the quality of the teams, no game should surprise you so much that you rate a team that drastically different from one week to the next.
    - The fact that a 2-2 team is sometimes rated higher than a 4-0 team makes complete sense to me. No one needs power rankings that just mirror the standings one-to-one.
    - I also totally agree with ranking the Saints above the Falcons. It's about the impression on game day and in the previous weeks, not just the final score. This level of nuance is something I miss in many other power rankings.
    - Bottom line: These are the best power rankings I know of. Great job!
    Ugh, after all that positive talk, I don’t feel good at all. Uhm, ahh, I totally dislike the Vikings hoodie!!! (Ahh, much better now)

    Falcons fan here and completely fine with the Saints ahead of us. We fell into a win(which I'll sure take), but we were not better. If we can get our O line figured out though, we can run the ball and get Kirk's timing down easily. We'll be a very good team at that point given how well our defense is playing.

      @@ThatFranchiseGuy They've won 4 games, 3 of which were against teams you've consistently said are top 10. Even the Giants don't really look bad this season. Sam Darnold's history as a quarterback shouldn't be a defining factor in your decision making when assessing team's current abilities.
      Their defensive and offensive EPA is currently in another dimension, Darnold has the most passing touchdowns by a country mile and they lead the league in every single defensive metric. Sacks, interceptions, tfls, turnovers. Again if you're using previous seasons of play to define current ratings you aren't assessing the NFL in a constructive way. Players improve and regress, 2 years ago people would have told you the Jaguars should be competing for a Superbowl with Trevor Lawrence. Mac Jones had an incredible rookie season and is now a backup, things CHANGE.

    Much better analysis… although I believe that some of your biases are still coming through.
    Cowboys can’t run, nor can they stop the run… if they don’t start off with a 14 point lead, the defence will struggle to get off the field.
    Bengals don’t have a good enough DLine to allow opposing teams to out score the Bengals air attack
    Jets Oline will be their downfall… Haskett is the worst OC in the league and as good as the defence is… their offence will look even worse once the injury prone OLine is forced to play backups
    Buffalo’s defensive was exposed last week… probably a little early to penalize them, but something to watch going forward
    Seahawks look better than I gave them credit for, and once the Dline returns… they will give a lot of teams a run.
    Buccaneers got punched in the nose by Broncos, but otherwise look better (trap game? Bowles called a crappy game, and were missing DT’s), but probably should be higher
    Vikings have the fantastic coaching and deserving has won every game thus far….
    I still think that the game plan against the Ravens is to load the box, and make the Oline prove that they can pass protect… and the Bucs showed the way to beat the Lions… so on any given Sunday… everyone is vulnerable

Pray that the Lions refuse to do what they're best at in running the ball? That's not actionable.

Commanders are bit like Buffalo where offense is rolling mostly based on playcalling and QB play (both teams have mid tier O-Line and weapons at best). On the defensive side of the ball, I think their front seven is very physical but not quite elite, and their secondary is a big question mark. Week after week they have been torched through the air and without a couple of unlucky breaks for the Seahawks (DK fumble, OPI on Lockett etc.) that could’ve been a very close game.
