The diss Namjoon did wasn't to Zico, they didn't have any beef between each other, they were actually in the same underground rap community back in the days and Zico is still friends with Namjoon and Hobi too!! This "battle"is more of a joint performance in battle form, but they weren't like "I'll do better than you, I'll win" they just performed, Zico said a while ago that they didn't even know beforehand that it'd be "BTS vs Block B", but yeah this was really good!!! Jhope and Jimin killed it, like they were amazing, and I really like the Let's get it started performance at the end with all of them!! But it's crazy how you can see the preference, when BTS were singing it barely focused on them, the camera was on the crowd or in a Block B member but every time someone from Block B sang the camera was on them lol well, the early days... They really were the underdogs

Namjoon and the rapper of block b " Zico " were in the same team when they were in the underground !! They have been friends since teenage and have a song together as well. Block b has some good music as well and Zico as a soloist has some really good songs . This performance will forever be iconic !! Jimin and jhope absolutely devoured them

Namjoon and Zico are old friends. Zico interviewed Jhope on the first episode of his show Give Me a Minute, (check it out!!) about JHope’s album Jack in the Box in 2022. Zico’s production company Koz Entertainment was acquired by Hybe in 2021. Under it he is a soloist and he also manages a new boy group Boy Next Door.
The battle was iconic. We all knew who was win but both were really dope:]]. Zico said that he knew his team would lose as soon as jimin took up his shirt😂

When you said “Don’t act like you’re not impressed” the camera was actually on a member of a group who was super popular back then. That’s what music award shows like MAMA do a lot - if a less popular group is performing and then producers want a bigger reaction from the audience at a certain time, they’d change the camera to someone more popular and their fans would go crazy. I wasn’t an ARMY yet when I did watch MAMA back then (live from home), so I was happy to see my fave groups’ reactions back then. Now, as an ARMY watching these again, I’m like, “You’re missing the one of the best parts, put the camera back!!” 😤😅😂

Fun fact:
I don't remember if it was when they were trainees or rookies but when doing dance practices, they'd do simulations on how to handle stage accidents like hats falling or shoes coming off, etc.
That's how dedicated and determined they were.
It's one of my favorite MAMA's, precisely because I'm crazy about the dark & wild album. Jimin's tattoo was actually fake, but in 2018 he made it permanent (it says “Nevermind”).
The battle was more to introduce the groups and BTS did very well, since at that time the awards didn't give them any visibility.
The dance battle is iconic and still remembered today, Hobi and Jimin were much better, I'm not saying that because I'm an army, but it's totally incomparable (not to mention Jimin tearing his shirt, that was the perfect icing on the cake).
Now about the rap “battle”, Zico and Namjoon are friends, the disses weren't for each other. By the way, interesting trivia, RM's rap was a diss to a guy called Bobby from the group iKON (this guy made a gratuitous diss about RM and BTS, RM didn't miss the chance to respond to the point of shutting the guy up and keeping him quiet), and it's all true, in their book there's information about what happened and Namjoon has already spoken about it, even backstage at this MAMA Bobby went to greet and congratulate RM.

actually rm's pre-debut underground tracks are very fun, people managed to save and reupload a few, at one point while being a trainee he mostly deleted everything, and well old internet spaces have also closed so a lot is lost but we have a few, some even before his voice dropped, it's insane and rm has always been good, no wonder people were scared (bts vault has a lot of the songs with good subtitles, pre-debut songs list on genius is also a good start for anyone who wants to start looking into this)

There is a part where camera focused on one girl with a mole, she is IU, the one that you guys have been reacted to (Loves Win All). Fun fact, Jungkook has said on one interview that IU is his type. There was even a moment fans really wanted them to be together (despite the fact that IU is older than him) because they look cute! But they just remain friends behind the scene. Not to forget, IU already has a boyfriend now. No hate ok🥰 I mention this because this is somehow funny to ARMY because half of BTS member has been collaborated with IU but JK😂 Just thought you guys should know too hahaha. I just wanted to say it, summer you always say what we think haha yes we are army and we definitely have the same feelings. It was really touching to see them again at that time, you could see the difference between the audience's cheers and the absence of chants at that time. It can be seen on their faces that they really want to make the audience interested in them, they are really cool, to be honest, not because I'm ARMY, but I don't think there was a group that could be like them at that time, having only debuted for a year but as great as them, for BTS it looks embarrassing to me, in fact it was very cool and extraordinary and I was very proud and felt like telling them at that time that you don't need to worry because in the future you will be very successful. They were so cool that even when I watch them back now I still think they're really cool.

I might be late but most of the stuff you listed is not Asian culture and is stuff everybody can do. Like moving to Asia, working in boba shops or martial arts, eating with chopsticks, going to Asian grocery stores, and the tattoos. Many Asian people even welcome foreigners to wear traditional Asian clothing as long as they wear it correctly. These things have nothing to do with culture appropriation. You should be worried about being more educated on Asian culture instead of spreading misinformation, since your the only one talking about his hair.

This was a lot of fun! What a throwback. I think BTS and Block B didn't know they were advertising it as a battle, they approached it as a collaboration.
I was disappointed in the camerawork for the group parts. There were a lot of very very distant shots during nice choreo moments. Well, maybe that's just me. I love seeing them live, but I'm often annoyed at tight shots and distance shots that keep me from seeing the all members and their dance clearly. Oh well!

I would really like you to see the presentations from later years in chronological order from here, not only from this contest, the MAMA (Mnet Music Awards) and the MMA (Melon Music Awards), both year-end awards are different but both very important, BTS performed performances with different themes in both without fail
I do not recommend seeing one and discarding the other. To do that would be to miss out on the complete combo. These awards shows the influence and success of BTS in the Asian music industry, which is very different from their success in the Western music industry. You yourselves will notice it if you do. They see the performances of each year as the army bombs gradually devoured the public each year, and after taking a prize at the beginning they ended up taking the prizes in each category without room for anyone in 2019 or when BTS received their first major prize in 2016. behind the scenes of that moment are so exciting

- 2014 in Hong Kong: 1st time invited and 1st performers on the show & in the middle of the show as well with another group called Block B at the same time. This is a legendary performance!
- 2015 in Hong Kong: 9th performer of 28 total performers
- 2016 in Hong Kong: 23th performer of 29 total performers
- In 2017 the show was held for 3 days in Vietnam, Japan & Hong Kong. They attended on the last day which was in Hong Kong and performed last.
- In 2018 it was held for 3 days in S. Korea, Japan & Hong Kong. They attended the 2nd & 3rd day and performed on both days last. So there are 2 separate performances.
- In 2019 it was only held for 1 day because of political issues between S. Korea & Japan and it was held in Japan despite that. They attended and performed last.
- In 2020 it was held for 1 day too and this time in S. Korea because of COVID. They attended and performed last.
The largest entertainment company, SM Entertainment, has decided to boycott the MAMA show since 2018 because of unfairness in the voting system. No artists of SM has appeared on the show ever since. The 2nd largest company, YG Entertainment, faced the same issue in 2015 and hasn't attend the show nor performed besides BLACKPINK only attending in 2018. So because of no artists from these 2 largest companies attending there were no competition in performing nor winning awards against BTS. With MAMA usually if you're nominated and you attend the show you may win the award you're nominated for. But if you're nominated and the end result was obvious that you should have won the award but you didn't attend the show, the award will be given the 2nd place winner. Even if they attended they still won't win the award(s) they were nominated for because BTS was still on top and dominating the nominations. BTS exploded in popularity domestically and internationally since 2016 so much that it overtook the most popular artists from SM Ent & YG Ent since.
