One of the first formally published works (by Alphonse Leduc) of Jean-Louis Florentz is entitled 'Moon of Blood' for horn in F, one of two works which does not bear an opus number (the other is 'Vocalise'); alluding to a lunar phenomenon occurring during eclipses where the moon's reddish tone is caused via illuminations by sunlight filtered and refracted by the earth's atmosphere.
