***** 2 years later, now as someone who realizes that flugel is not all that different and in fact plays more flugel than trumpet...I still think it's amazing!
Very gorgeous tone. You represent the finer qualities of the instrument. I'm also digging the tenuto articulations. You make a beautiful song all the more beautiful
You totally earned this subscription. I too am a fellow trumpet player. You have the prettiest sound I have ever heard. As soon as I get a camera, maybe you can hear me.
The Phillip Phillips of flugelhorn. And I mean that in the best way, gorgeous playing, just hit me with a similar evoked enthusiasm an d a (more than) passing resemblance.
Mark Pilbeam I agree with ***** . You can only be as good as yourself. You decide how good you want to be and do it, and while inspiration is good, it's too easy to let it take the fun out of what you do. Music isn't just about getting as good as someone else, or a means to get famous or rich, it's a means of expression and emotion. Just pick up your instrument and flow with it. Don't weigh yourself down with thoughts on what you should be, or what others do.
That was beautiful.I would like to know the music so I can play.I'm only in middle school, but I play well.I play the trumpet and that song would help my grade and gain respect from not only the rest of my trumpet section, but the whole band.Maybe even the whole school.
Good tone and everything! In love with your videos now lol. Inspires me to actually practice. I play the French horn and people get confused with the flugelhorn horn so -.- Thanks for the amazing videos, keep up the great work!
+FantasyNightcore I feel like they types of people who even know the word flugelhorn should be able to tell the difference between it and a french horn! Then again someone once asked if my sousaphone was a trombone so you never know. XD
I'm a freshman in marching band and I must say I haven't seen too many flugelhorn players but I can defiantly tell you have good tone and embouchure and by the way I play trumpet. +1 sub for you ;)
+TheLellefix it's not too popular but whenever someone sees it it's always exciting for the trumpet section and I am glad you take the time to respond to your viewers that's very kind of you
Awesome playing!!! Just started playing again after a 20yr layoff..you have inspired me to continue. Can you cover "Beautiful Maria of My Soul"? One of my favorites. Q G
Your playing is lovely and your flugel tone is simply beautiful - very rich and mellow, just like a flugel should be. Do you mind my asking what mouthpiece you are using?
Hi! This is nice to listen to fugelhorn on youtube. Very good job. I was wondering where to you find the scores? Do you write them yourself? That will be nice to play some new songs like this.
I wouldn't really say to completely abandon your trumpet. flugelhorn wouldn't usually be used in a traditional concert setting, but it's always nice, being a trumpet player, to have a variety of instruments just to have for whenever needed.
I've played flugelhorn only a few times and it was during marching band season as a freshman in high school. I'm hoping to play it next year too as a sophomore. It has such a great sound and I love it!
hi, i from venezuela, i dont speak english very much, but i love this song, i play trumpet, how find the partiture of this song?, i wanna play the same you play, i hope your understand me jajaja, your sound is very good!
What m mic are you using and I hear a slight effect in there like a reverb but it's slight what is it?. Sounds great... I'm wanting to record and I like your sound. Thanks
In this video I used the Samson G-Track and there is some echo on the flugelhornsound. It's fun to record your music and it's a reason to practice a little more :P
ive played trumpet for 6 years now and recently got a bach strad. model 37 and i really want to get a flugelhorn too. I just can't achieve that same richness with a trumpet. Any suggestions as to what to look at for starters?
I'm wondering if you would have advice for playing the Flugelhorn? I've been playing the trumpet for about 4-5 years, and my band director is having me play the Flugel in marching band next year. I just want to know what I should do differently because he hasn't really told me anything about it.
hmm...that's a good question.. I think there is nothing special to consider. Playing flugel is more or less the same like playing trumpet. If you use a flugelhornmouthpiece your sound will change on it's own. You just should keep in mind that it sounds smoother than trumpet so don't play it to hard. I hope that sort of answered your question..
Is there a major difference between playing the Trumpet and Flugelhorn, besides the minor discrepancies, isn't it just for tone? The flugelhorn helps produce a dark mellow sound while the Trumpet can have a brilliant tone up in range?
If you already play trumpet you have nothing to learn about playing flugelhorn or cornet. If you want to play one ore both you can go to the store and by one (you should by b-flat if your trumpet is b-flat). So you should ask yourself if you really want to play for example flugelhorn and if it's worth to spend a certain amount of money on it. I play flugelhorn mainly for the videos. In other occasions I play trumpet.
MusicLyrics A cornet is "not the same thing" as a trumpet. The cornet is a conical bore instrument while the trumpet is cylindrical. The flugelhorn is just more "conical" than the cornet. The are typically both in b flat but should have slightly different tonal color. You said it "doesn't have a tuning slide" Where in the hell do you get that? I've never seen one that didn't? Please don't use RUclips as a platform for bloviating and pontificating about things you know absolutely nothing about. It makes you look like a fool.
In my opinion Trumpet is a bit more difficult because of the mouthpieceshape. But starting a brass instrument always needs some practice to get a nice sound. Don't give up at the beginning.
It's a Courtois Paris AC 154R. As far as I know is the tone of the silver ones a bit harder. But I think there are many different things like mouthpiece and model of your instrument which have influence to the sound.
Figma Motion It doesn't really matter ultimately, but I recommend getting a trumpet or cornet. Flugelhorn can be limiting in that it won't blend in most settings.
I love the flugelhorn tone so much. It' like halway between a trumpet and french horn. :D
jaman198 yes you're right :P
TheLellefix yi
See
The Flugelhorn is such an underappreciated instrument
And I'm just glad someone else loves it as much as I do

Well, I can't honestly judge this video since I'm not a flugelhorn player. But, as a trumpet player, THIS IS FRICKING BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate this :)
but the flugel horn sounds much better than the trumpet.
***** 2 years later, now as someone who realizes that flugel is not all that different and in fact plays more flugel than trumpet...I still think it's amazing!

Just so nice!
Anthony Minsky thank you! :)
I've just begun playing Flugelhorn and this piece is inspirational but, at the same time, makes me seriously doubt that I'll ever be that good.
Great thank you :) the most important is to have fun playing not to be good as somebody
Mark Pilbeam I agree with ***** . You can only be as good as yourself. What a talent that is! I wish I could give this a thousand likes but we're only limited to one. Ugh

+FantasyNightcore I feel like they types of people who even know the word flugelhorn should be able to tell the difference between it and a french horn! Then again someone once asked if my sousaphone was a trombone so you never know. XD
XD well there's a lot of French horn jokes when people say "is that a fluggle horn? Trombone?" And plenty more.
I just bought a flugel and my sister called it a French horn 😭
Lol xD
wonderful.
Very good. Great!!
Lindo som ! Parabéns pela interpretação !!!

I'm happy for every comment so I hope i can give something back by answering
I play trumpet and have always loved how he flugle sounded. I've only played it once and fell in love. wanting one so bad 🙁
+Ryze vM it's really nice to play..maybe one day you get one! :)
Graduating from high school soon and will probably use some money I get from graduation to purchase one. Do you have any suggestions on brand? Model?
Awesome playing!!! Just started playing again after a 20yr layoff..you have inspired me to continue. Can you cover "Beautiful Maria of My Soul"? One of my favorites. Q G

Your playing is lovely and your flugel tone is simply beautiful - very rich and mellow, just like a flugel should be. Do you mind my asking what mouthpiece you are using?
Hey thank you so much :) It's the Courtois Paris - B 3C
Whoooo! Yeah!
Hi! This is nice to listen to fugelhorn on youtube. Very good job. I was wondering where to you find the scores? Do you write them yourself? That will be nice to play some new songs like this.
Kavouintze Freja I listen to the songs and try to play to them.

I play the trumpet, and thinking of playing the flugelhorn, should I?
I wouldn't really say to completely abandon your trumpet. flugelhorn wouldn't usually be used in a traditional concert setting, but it's always nice, being a trumpet player, to have a variety of instruments just to have for whenever needed.
Kris Batanero yes, but one. but not an expensive one, you won't use a flugel as much as trumpet
I've played flugelhorn only a few times and it was during marching band season as a freshman in high school. I'm hoping to play it next year too as a sophomore. It has such a great sound and I love it!
Is flugelhorn your first instrument? I mean, used to play trumpet before? You make a wonderful sound with that!
Thank you :) trumpet is my first instrument when I play with others. But right now I like the flugelhorn more.
+TheLellefix Hello , very beautiful sound of his instrument , play trumpet hope one day play like you

JediMasterOW the main difference is the mouthpiece. But if you play trumpet you'll easily manage to play flugelhorn.
how did you do it
sehr weich gespielt!, gefällt mir :)
Linus Schneider Dankeschön :) :)
do you have sheet music or just the notes? i love it!
SeansMashups I wouldn't mind having the sheet music myself
Volta a postar mais videos de flugelhorn, por favor !
I play the trunpet right now...I was interested in trying this instrument but I have up on it. I could play certain songs but not much.
Justin Medina with some practice you'll get better ;)
Muito bom
Do you think it would be difficult going from a regular Bb trumpet to a flugelhorn?
+ProfessorMc12 no it's not..you just need a flugelhorn. Playing is more or less the same.
love this song hey you should do lessons because i would be willing to take a lesson with you. i play trumpet. i love your music.
I thought about giving lessons but. Maybe one day. But right now I have little time :( thank you for writing :)
I play alto sax and trumpet, do you think I should learn cornet or flugelhorn next?

yg mau tidur karna dengar musik ini mna suaranya::
did u put some swing into this?
I planning to learn a brass instrument and i have a question. What do you think is the most difficult to learn, a normal Trumpet or a Flugelhorn ?
In my opinion Trumpet is a bit more difficult because of the mouthpieceshape.
But starting a brass instrument always needs some practice to get a nice sound. Don't give up at the beginning.
Ok, thanks for your anwser !
:D - me the whole time
What brand is your flugelhorn?
È possibile avere lo spartito ?
What mic do u use? if u dont mind me asking?
Just wondering, what brand/model is your Flugelhorn? Does it matter if the horn is lacquered or nickel plated?
It's a Courtois Paris AC 154R. As far as I know is the tone of the silver ones a bit harder. But I think there are many different things like mouthpiece and model of your instrument which have influence to the sound.
Thanks a bunch! I'm learning to play at the moment and I find your vids inspiring! ^_^
thank you and have fun playing :)
Poxa top
Is the flugelhorn a B flat instrument like trumpet
Yep it's the same tuning
È possibile trovare gli spartiti di questi brani ?
Tipo de bocal adequado para fazer soprano
what's the difference between the flugel and the trumpet?
it's a conical instrument so the sound is a bit smoother.
Could you get me the sheet music of this song please? or know where I get the sheet music?
for example on my facebookpage ;)
What horn & mouthpiece do you use ?
barmillsmodels I'm playing on a Courtois Paris AV 154R Flugelhorn with a B 3C Mouthpiece of the same brand.
***** is Flugelhorn better for a beginer than the trumpet ? im looking to buy a instrument
Figma Motion It doesn't really matter ultimately, but I recommend getting a trumpet or cornet. Flugelhorn can be limiting in that it won't blend in most settings.
Figma Motion I agree with Dr. Logos
Figma Motion I'd say getting a Bb Trumpet would be best for you to get if you are going to start playing.
